Both the wide blade ad the third prog are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does ot fit ito your outlet, cosult a electricia for replacemet of the obsolete outlet. 10. 5 SECTION 2 INSTALLATION 2 HARDWARE INSTALLATION This chapter describes the istallatio of the system hardware. For details of operatio, see the supplied Operatio Istructios. Note: Esure that you read all safety precautios. 2.1 SYSTEM CABLE For the itercoectio betwee the moitor ad camera a 15m/45ft system cable is supplied with the camera. For a optimum picture ad soud quality you should always use 4-wire dual twisted-pair cable whe extedig the coectio. The maximum allowed cable legth is 200m/600ft. Pay attetio that the coectors are fixed to the cable correspodig to the figure below. (Figure 3.1) If the legth of the system cable is over 200m/600ft (up to 300m/900ft), a iterface box should be used to feed the accessory or camera (see optioal accessories i the Operatio Istructios). Cautio: The plugs used for the observatio system have the same dimesios as stadard telephoe plugs. (RJ-11) Never coect telephoe equipmet or cable to the observatio system. 2.2 SYSTEM CONNECTION Camera iputs (1 to 4) The cameras are coected to iputs 1 through to 4, depedig o the umber of cameras used Slave output A output for a slave moitor (optioal accessory) is available. This output ca also be used to coect a optioal Network Observatio System Aux. output/iput You ca cofigure a auxiliary output cofiguratio via the meu optio (see System settigs). The auxiliary output provides loop-through from oe of the 4 camera iputs or presetatio mode where you ca coect aother video source to aux-i. It is possible to switch betwee this video source ad oe of the camera pictures. Note: The supplied A/V cable ca be used for Aux. output/iput coectio. However, if you are usig two VCRs, you will eed to order a secod A/V cable (see your local supplier). Coect the Mii Di plug to the Aux. coector of the system moitor. 6 Coect the BNC coectors to the video i ad video output of the VCR or CVBS moitor. Coect the RCA plugs to the Audio i ad Audio out of your VCR or CVBS moitor VCR i/output The VCR i/output allows you to coect a VCR to record camera images. Coect the Mii Di plug to the VCR coector of the system moitor. Coect the BNC coectors to the video i ad video output of the VCR. Attetio: The Video I plug of the A/V cable must be coected to the Video out of the VCR. The Video Out plug of the A/V cable must be coected to the Video I of the VCR. 2.3 WIZARD INSTALLATION Whe the system is powered up the FIRST time, the WIZARD setup optio is displayed. The Istallatio Wizard will guide you through the most importat settigs of the system. Follow the scree optios ad select usig the ROTARY wheel. Note: Whe a additioal camera or accessory is coected to the system, the WIZARD fuctio is automatically eabled ad you are guided through the appropriate meus at power up. Durig startup the followig scree is displayed: PHILIPS OBSERVATION SYSTEM VERSION x.x Coect the RCA coectors to the Audio i ad Audio out of your VCR. The followig meu is displayed after a umber of secods: Attetio: The Audio I plug of the A/V cable must be coected to the Audio out of the VCR. The Audio Out plug of the A/V cable must be coected to the Audio I of the VCR Alarm output cotact (N.O./N.C.) I case of a alarm a potetial free relay cotact (Normally Ope/Normally Closed; 24V/2A max.) ca activate a VCR, sire or telephoe selector. If the alarm output is coected to the alarm iput of a video recorder, the recordig speed will switch from timelapse to ormal speed i case of a alarm. This will result i the recordig of more pictures per secod. If the alarm is ackowledged by the user or automatically after 30 secods the VCR switches back to time-lapse mode RS232 For service purposes to coect a PC/Laptop to istall/cofigure the observatio System Mais Power Coector Esure that you observe all safety precautios whe coectig the mais power cable ad switchig o the power. Attetio: Whe the cofiguratio is chaged, the system must be scaed agai. Therefore always switch off the system before a camera or accessory is added or removed. After power up the system moitor will recogize the item that was added or removed. LANGUAGE ENGLISH FRANCAIS DEUTCH ITALIANO PORTUGUES ESPAGNOL NEDERLANDS Tur the ROTARY wheel util the required laguage is highlighted. Select your preferred laguage by pressig the ROTARY wheel. The followig meu is displayed: CONFIGURATION START INSTALLATION WIZARD? YES NO Select YES to start the wizard setup. The wizard setup eables you to cofigure the system to your ow settigs ad guides you through the process automatically. Select NO to eable the system to automatically cofigure itself to the factory default settigs. 7 Whe completed the followig scree will appear: CONFIGURATION CONFIGURATION WIZARD COMPLETED 2.4 SYSTEM SETTINGS The system settigs that ca be cofigured to your ow requiremets. The system is setup via o-scree meus. To access the meu optios: Press the MENU butto. Toggle to switch o/off. The ROTARY wheel cotrols the meu avigatio as described i the Operatio Istructios. At the ed of this chapter you ca fid the complete meu structure i a diagram Mai Meu After pressig the meu butto the followig meu will be displayed: SWITCH TO PLAYBACK VIEW > HISTORY > VIEW SETTINGS > TIME/DATE > SYSTEM SETTINGS > Note: SWITCH TO PLAYBACK VIEW, the HISTORY, VIEW SETTINGS ad TIME/DATE fuctios are described more detailed i the Operatio Istructios. Remark: After eterig the system settigs, alarms are disabled System Settigs Meu With the System settigs meu you ca cofigure the system accordig to your ow requiremets. Cofiguratios that ca be chaged are: Select system settigs from the mai meu ad the followig meu will appear: SYSTEM SETTINGS SEQUENCE ALARMS AUX-OUTPUT VCR INSTALLATION SERVICE Sequece You ca chage the sequece dwell time from 02 sec to 30 secs. Sequece/dwell time is the legth of time a image is displayed before the ext image i the sequece is show. SYSTEM SETTINGS SEQUENCE DWELL TIME 05 SEC Alarms The Alarm Profiles ca be accessed from the Alarm meu. SYSTEM SETTINGS ALARMS ALARM DURATION05 ALARM PROFILE DAY ALARM PROFILE NIGHT EVENT REPLAY SEC ALARM This defies the period of time (5 DURATION sec. to 15 mi.) that the alarm beeper ad the alarm relay are activated, uless the operator ackowledges the alarm. ALARM PROFILE DAY SYSTEM SETTINGS ALARMS ALARM PROFILE DAY EXIT DELAY 0 SEC TITLE MOTIONALARM-BOX DOORBELL 1 OFF OFF OFF 2 OFF OFF ON 3 OFF OFF OFF 4 OFF OFF OFF EXIT DELAY Alarm Exit Delay (0 sec. to 4 mi.) is the amout of time before alarm profile ight will be activated. 8 MOTION ALARM BOX The camera detects motio withi the defied motio area. A alarm box is a optioal accessory that eables you to activate a alarm iput (e.g. PIR detector). DOOR BELL A door bell (Itercom Box) is a optioal accessory that eables you react to persos who eter by pressig the respective door bell. Pressig the doorbell will soud the system buzzer ad register a evet. ALARM PROFILE NIGHT SYSTEM SETTINGS ALARMS ALARM PROFILE NIGHT ENTRY DELAY 0 SEC DISPLAY ON/OFF TITLE MOTIONALARM-BOX DOORBELL 1 OFF OFF OFF 2 OFF OFF ON 3 OFF OFF OFF 4 OFF OFF OFF ENTRY DELAY A alarm geerated i ight mode will be processed by the system after the etry delay time is expired (programmable betwee 0 sec. ad 4 mi.). If the system switches over from ight to day durig this etry delay time a geerated alarm will ot be processed. Exceptios are special alarms, which always will be processed. DISPLAY I ight mode, the display optio automatically switches the moitor scree display off whe the OFF optio is selected. The other optios are the same as for the ALARM PROFILE DAY Aux output From the system settigs meu you ca cofigure the system aux-output. SYSTEM SETTINGS AUX-OUTPUT PRESENTATION MODE ON AUX-OUT 1 PRESENTATION ON SLAVE OFF SEQUENCE ON SEQUENCE WITH 2 DWELL TIME 03 SEC AUDIO SOURCE AUX-IN PRESENTATION MODE A advaced feature of this system is the 'presetatio mode. OFF - The auxiliary output provides loop-through from oe of the 8 camera iputs, depedig of the AUX-OUT settig. ON - The auxiliary iput allows you to view images from a additioal VCR. These images ca cosist of a presetatio movie sequeced with live camera images. Remark: Whe a Network Observatio System is coected to the slave output of the system moitor it is ot possible to display the presetatio mode o the slave moitor. AUX-OUT PRESENTATION ON SLAVE Whe presetatio mode is OFF, oe of the eight camera outputs ca be set o the AUX-output. Whe presetatio mode is ON, the AUX-OUT optio is disabled. If presetatio o slave is ON it is possible to display presetatio mode o the slave moitor as well as o the AUX-output. This optio is forced to OFF by the system whe a Network Observatio System is coected to the slave output of the system moitor. 8 Sectio 2 - Istallatio

9 SEQUENCE SEQUENCE WITH 2 DWELL TIME AUDIO SOURCE The presetatio is sequeced with a live camera image whe selected to ON. Presetatio is sequeced with the selected live camera image (i this case with camera umber 2) Chage the image sequece dwell time (programmable betwee 02 ad 30 secs) Selected Audio source is automatically displayed VCR You ca setup the VCR from the system meu: SYSTEM SETTINGS VCR PLAYBACK DETECTIONON PLAYBACK DETECTION By coectig the iput ad output from the same VCR you ca have a automatic playback detectio optio. ON - This allows you to switch o the VCR playback ad the system will automatically detect the VCR has bee switched o for playback. OFF - The playback detectio is disabled. You ca select the VCR playback by accessig the mai meu ad selectig SWITCH TO PLAYBACK VIEW Istallatio The Istallatio group cotais all istallatio-related items, such as laguage, system beep ad camera settig. SYSTEM SETTINGS INSTALLATION LANGUAGE ENGLISH BEEP VOLUME OFF EXTERNAL CONTROL SETUP CAMERA 1 SETUP CAMERA 2 SETUP CAMERA 3 SETUP CAMERA 4 LANGUAGE BEEP VOLUME You ca choose from Eglish, Frech, Germa, Spaish, Dutch, Italia ad Portuguese. The meus are the displayed i the selected laguage. Allows you to select the system audio beep high, medium, low or off. EXTERNAL Allows you to cotrol the CONTROL system via slave or IR Remote Cotrol. SYSTEM Ca be selected from a address ADDRESS of 1 to 8 to avoid multiple system switchig with oe IR Remote Cotrol. CONTROL AT Ca be selected ON or OFF to SLAVE allow cotrol of the system from the Slave Moitor accessory. SETUP CAMERA For every coected camera a camera cofiguratio meu ca be selected (activated). SYSTEM SETTINGS INSTALLATION SETUP CAMERA 1 TITLE 1 BACKLIGHT COMPENSATION OFF WHITE BALANCE AUTO FIELD OF VIEW 1 MICROPHONE ON MOTION AREA MOTION SENSITIVITY DISPLAY MOTIONOFF TITLE Allows you to eter a camera title (max. 8 characters). BACKLIGHT COMPENSATION (BLC) Backlight compesatio: BLC OFF - The camera Automatic Light Cotrol (ALC) respods to the average cotet of the etire video picture. BLC ON - The camera ALC respods pre-domiatly to the ceter of the picture, show by the diagram. If a object of iterest falls iside the BLC area, its visibility will remai relatively costat eve if the backgroud illumiatio varies. WHITE BALANCE White balace is where the camera automatically matches the video color to the white (referece) area of the image. The differet optios are: FIXED - keep the white balace settigs which are curretly used. FIELD OF VIEW MICROPHONE MOTION AREA MOTION SENSITIVITY DISPLAY MOTION Motio Sesitivity SYSTEM SETTINGS INSTALLATION SETUP CAMERA 1 MOTION SENSITIVITY 1 LEVEL MOTION INDICATOR RESET INDICATOR AUTO - White balace is automatically set. RECALCULATE - Set the white balace to automatic for 5 secods ad the back to fixed. Note: Recalculate is oly available whe curret settig is FIXED. (Rage 1: 1.33: 1.66 : 2: default is 1). Adjust the field of view usig digital zoom i the camera to esure complete coverage of the object withi the viewig agle of the camera les. Select the microphoe ON/OFF. Allows you to defie the area size for motio detectio. Allows you to defie the sesitivity of motio detectio. This eables you to detect objects like a perso ruig across the motio area but will ot raise a alarm if there is a small movemet (detect humas but o birds). This allows you to view where the motio has bee detected by displayig a series of movemet idicators o the moitor scree. LEVEL Sets the level (the amout) of motio detectio. MOTION Displays the set level of motio INDICATOR detectio. RESET Resets the motio detectio INDICATOR idicator to the curret settig. Set motio alarm as follows: 1. Reset idicator. 2. Set level just below the level of motio idicatio Service The SERVICE meu cotais all items relevat for servicig your observatio system: resettig the system to factory defaults ad the iteral diagose. SYSTEM SETTINGS SERVICE SYSTEM DIAGNOSE FACTORY DEFAULTS Disable System Settig Optio You ca disable the system settig optio, esurig operators do ot make iadvertet system chages. To meu lock the system settigs optio: Switch the complete system off. Switch the system o while keepig the PIP ad PIP Swap buttos pressed at the same time. Cotiue to keep the buttos pressed util the start-up scree appears. System settigs are removed from the mai meu. Note: Follow the same procedure to ulock the system settigs meu. SYSTEM DIAGNOSE FACTORY DEFAULTS With this optio you ca obtai a overview of the iteral diagose settigs. (Cosult the service maual for more iformatio). With this optio you ca set the complete system to the factory defaults. All curret settigs will be lost, (this will take a few secods). Laguage selector ad Wizard setup will be activated agai. The system also supports the followig features: Day/Night: By pressig just oe butto you ca set the system i two differet modes to activate the day or ight alarm profile of your system. ROTARY wheel By simple rotatig ad pressig the ROTARY wheel you ca operate ad cotrol the complete system i a very coveiet way. Sequece Automatic sequece camera switchig, with dwell time adjustable O Scree Display Operatio ad programmig of the system is performed through O Scree Display (OSD) meus. With these easy to use meus you ca setup the system to your ow eeds. Istallatio wizard The istallatio wizard guides you through the system step by step. Presetatio mode A advaced feature is to show presetatio movies with the possibility to sequece the presetatio with a live camera image. Motio detectio The observatio cameras automatically detect motio withi a defied motio area. Talk fuctio Built-i loudspeaker ad microphoe for itercom optio. Audio from the cameras is stadard supported via the dual twisted pair cables. Actio fuctio With the actio feature you ca cotrol exteral devises e.g. to remotely ope a door. Remark: By switchig over from day to ight the actual ight profile is activated after the programmed exit delay time is expired. The LED colour chages accordigly. OPERATOR CONTROLS The fuctioal operatio of the Philips Observatio System Switcher is as follows. A alarm geerated i ight mode will be processed by the system after the etry delay time is expired. If the system switches over from ight to day durig this etry delay time a geerated alarm will ot be processed. Exceptios are special alarms, which always will be processed Power Switch Read the istructios, before puttig your system i operatio. Toggle the power switch located at the rear of the moitor to switch o/off the system. A LED o the frot of the moitor idicates the system mode. LED idicatio is as follows: The followig text appears o the moitor scree: (x.x = versio umber) After a while the camera image appears o the moitor scree Day/Night The system ca be set i two differet modes, DAY Mode ad NIGHT Mode. These two modes are setup i the System setup meus ad allow differet cofiguratios for day operatio ad ight-time operatio. For example, at ight-time operatio, the display picture ca be switched off, alarm iputs eabled etc. LED is OFF Observatio System off LED is Gree Observatio System is i DAY MODE LED is Amber Observatio System is i NIGHT MODE with the scree display fuctio disabled. LED is Red Observatio System is i NIGHT MODE with the scree display fuctio eabled. LED is blikig Alarm idicatio Volume To chage the audio volume of the cameras, itercom boxes ad VCR, push the VOLUME butto (it will pop out) ad rotate as required. Note that the beep volume is cotrolled via the system setup meu. Day mode I the day mode the image ad soud of the moitor are switched o ad the day alarm profile is eabled Talk Night mode I the Night mode, the ight alarm profile is eabled. Availability of image ad audio is cofigured i the system settigs. Select the camera desigated to the itercom box ad press TALK to speak through the itercom (optioal). Remark: The actio butto is oly fuctioal i combiatio with a Alarm/Actio box (optioal) ROTARY Wheel Durig ormal operatio the ROTARY wheel is used to select cameras ad to ackowledge alarms. Tur the ROTARY wheel to select the previous or ext camera. Audio of the selected camera is activated Meu After pressig the MENU butto, the mai meu will be displayed. For detailed descriptio of the meu operatio see Chapter Sequece The moitor displays the coected camera images i sequece. The dwell time (sequece time) is setup i the System setup meus. The camera title ad the sequece symbols are visible o the scree. Remark: This mode is oly fuctioal whe the observatio system has more tha oe camera Zoom The image will be displayed i full scree ad is digitally zoomed two times. The zoom butto toggles the zoom mode o/off. If the zoom mode is active, turig the ROTARY wheel scrolls the zoomig area through the ie pre-defied positios. A zoom symbol is displayed. The zoom fuctio is active for 30 secs or util the zoom butto is pressed before the 30 sec period Remark: This mode is oly fuctioal whe the respective coected camera has zoom fuctio Picture-I-Picture (PIP) The PIP butto toggles the Picture-I-Picture o/off. Keepig the PIP butto pressed while turig the rotary wheel will scroll through all coected cameras. Keepig the PIP select butto pressed while pressig the sequece butto will toggle the sequece settig of the PIP picture o/off. The PIP positio ca be chaged via the View Settigs meu PIP Swap The PIP Swap butto toggles the PIP image with the full scree image. 2.2 MENU OPERATION Press the MENU butto to display the o scree MAIN meu. Toggle to switch o/off. Remark: If o selectio is made withi 30 secods the o scree display meu is automatically switched off. MENU NAVIGATION Follow the scree optios ad select usig the ROTARY wheel. The ROTARY wheel cotrols the meu avigatio as follows: To scroll up/dow the meu, tur the ROTARY wheel to the required item. The highlighted text idicates the selected meu optio. Pressig the ROTARY wheel will either show the available optios (e.g. ON or OFF), or display the sub-meu. To decrease, icrease or chage the value of a selected meu item, tur the ROTARY wheel ad ackowledge by pressig the ROTARY wheel. To retur to the previous meu, tur the ROTARY wheel util the previous meu title is highlighted ad ackowledge by pressig the ROTARY wheel. 24 2.3 ALARM FUNCTIONS The alarm fuctio ca be eabled or disabled i the alarm profile. Whe motio is detected by a camera or whe a alarm is triggered by a Actio/Alarm box (optioal), the alarm fuctio is activated. I case of a alarm: Moitor i day mode: The moitor selects the respective camera iput of the Alarm/Actio box. The blikig alarm symbol is displayed o the moitor scree. The power LED starts to blik. The alarm output cotact is activated (hor, sire or telephoe selector) ad a buzzer souds for default 30 secs (programmable rage from 5 sec. to 15 mi.). The history table is updated with the alarm evet. Alarm evet strig is visible at the bottom of the moitor scree util alarm is ackowledged. Moitor i ight mode (display ON): Same as i day mode with the exceptio of: A alarm geerated i this ight mode will be processed by the system after the etry delay time is expired. If the system switches over from ight to day durig this etry delay time a geerated alarm will ot be processed. Exceptios are special alarms, which always will be processed. Moitor i ight mode (display OFF): Same as i ight mode (display ON) with the exceptio of: The buzzer does ot soud. To show or reset alarm, switch over from ight mode to day mode Reset Alarm The alarm resets wheever the ROTARY wheel is pressed. The moitor returs to the status before the alarm occurred. Whe the cause of the alarm has ot bee elimiated, the moitor cotiues to display the alarm symbol. Whe the ROTARY wheel is ot pressed durig a alarm, the moitor automatically ackowledges the alarm after default 30 secs (programmable rage from 5 sec. to 15 mi.). The moitor returs to the status before the alarm occurred. The blikig alarm message is displayed util the ROTARY wheel is pressed Recorded Alarms Durig playback the recorded alarms will be visible. Should a alarm be received durig playback of a tape, the system will retur to live mode Special Alarms A special alarm is give i case of: TAMPER A accessory housig has bee opeed. FAIL A failure i the system commuicatio to accessories or camera has bee foud. Press the ROTARY wheel to stop the alarm.
