6 Development of Cost Estimate After meeting a Project Cost Estimate is faxed to OAR for Funding Line. What am I funding? Amended hardware schedule, key schedule, sample keys, cabinet key schedule, student locker schedule, cylinders for elevator hall call panels, permanent cylinders, operating keys, school site padlocks, and time for preparation. 4

7 Completed Cost Estimate OAR returns completed Project Cost Estimate along with proper funding line for the Lock Department. If funding line is Valid,, typical turnaround time is 16 weeks. 5

19 Cylinders are Pulled from Stock Lock Department pulls cylinders from stock and prepares materials for delivery or pick up. Once cylinders, key schedule, and hardware submittals have been transmitted to contractor for keying, Principal or OAR can not make changes to schedule or renaming of classrooms. 7

20 Elevator Call Panels Elevator hall call panels need to be dropped of at the Lock Department for installation of cylinders (about a 10 day turn around) Elevator contractor gets one 131 elevator key and one 913 machine room key for inspection and servicing, State of California requires these keys be placed in the sump pit 8

21 Operating Keys / Padlocks for site Principal of the school must be advised to order operating keys at least 2 months prior to occupancy. Lock Department will issue a signature card Lock Department will meet with Plant Manager and discuss their needs (padlocks and securing perimeter) 9

22 Gate Locks Gate locks are installed by the Lock Department after school administration has moved in. 10

24 Common Asked Questions Does my addition project have to follow this procedure? Yes, with the exception of supplying cylinders. What happens if sample keys are lost or stolen? The school gets re keyed, at the cost of $40,000+ to whom ever lost it. By changing the room numbers will it affect my fire alarm panel or life safety panels? Yes, possibly changing the naming and marking of fire alarm, life safety and telephone panels. 11

25 Common Asked Questions What happens if I have a small parking lot or playground project, Do I follow procedure? Yes, projects that have 12 cylinders or less. The Lock Department with proper funding will Pin, Stamp, and Install cylinders for the project. Can I make more copies of the sample keys? No. Can I give the sample keys to the Principal? No, the sample keys get transmitted back to the Lock Department. 11
