Where raceway is surfacemounted ("exposed) and in finished areas, raceway shall match existing prevalent type (either conduit or surface wireway) and shall be painted (either by factory or electrical contractor) to match the adjacent surfaces. Device backboxes and junction boxes shall also be painted to match the same. Where raceway is exposed and in mechanical, electrical or similaruse rooms or spaces, raceway shall be conduit and shall be painted red, again by factory or E.C. coverplates shall be red as well (backboxes or junction boxes do not also need to be red). Where raceway is installed above an accessible ceiling, raceway shall be conduit and shall be painted red, by factory or E.C. coverplates shall be red as well (again, backboxes and jboxes do not also need to be red). Add E6 to read: "Majority of interior routing of power wiring and fire alarm cabling has not been indicated on individual building electrical plans. Other then where specifically noted on plans, electrical contractor shall determine best routing in the field. All cable routing is only suggested path based on casual field observations. Actual cable and raceway routing shall be determined by contractor with equipment requirements prior to installation. Indicate actual installed cabling, raceways, device addresses & routing in record documents." Add E7 to read: "New ceiling or wallmounted devices are indicated at best approximated location. If existing device (e.g. light fixture, fire alarm smoke detector, or architectural appliance) conflicts with indicated location, move new device to nearest location without obstruction. If new location is in question, contact a/e or university's representative (i.e. building engineer) for verification." C. FIRE ALARM WORK: Revise F2 to read: "All remote power supplies shown shall be monitored and controlled by remote fire alarm modules. Provide modules, boxes, and cabling adjacent to each location. Exact locations of remote power supplies may vary depending upon existing equipment or potential obstructions at indicated location. E.C. may use an alternate location adjacent existing electrical panel, contingent upon review by a/e and university. Provide smoke detector in close proximity of each power supply." Add F4 to read: "Where permanent fixture or obstruction prohibits location or acceptable mounting height of notification appliance, E.C. may substitute ceilingmounted device for wallmounted unit, contingent upon review of section NFPA 72 spacing requirements (2010 edition)." Add F5 to read: "Existing fire alarm is to be kept in full operation during construction, and shall only be disconnected once the new system is fully programmed and functional. The one caveat to this operation involves the provisions of a fire watch while either systems are nonrational. E.C. shall furnish, at their own expense, a fire watch during these periods." D.
