1 ADDENDUM NO. 2 RE: Clark East Tower Renovations DATE: November 16, 2015 Ypsilanti, Michigan TO: All Bidders Gentlemen: You are hereby directed to make the following changes in the Project Manual and/or Drawings of the subject job and each item shall become fully a part of the Construction Documents as if originally written and/or shown: 1. CLARIFICATION; the following items relate to the fire alarm system: a. Question: Will the remote annunciator be required to have remote microphone? Response: No. Only the main fire alarm control panel will have a microphone. b. Question: Will the main panel be considered an emergency command center? Response: No. The panel will not be an emergency command center, and neither will the space that it is located in comply with those requirements. c. Question: Will there be speakers in each apartment? Response: Yes. The existing speakers are to remain unless noted otherwise. d. Question: Will fire phones be required on the new system? Response: Yes. The existing fire phone outlet locations shown on the drawings are to remain. Existing phone cabinet is to be relocated to Service Vestibule 151. e. Question: Will the elevators be brought under the fire alarm system for detection and control, smoke detectors in the shafts, machine rooms, pits, etc.? Response: Fire alarm system shall monitor the devices in the shafts, machine rooms and pits, and the fire alarm panel will not control the elevator. f. Question: Are there stairwell pressurization fans that will need to be turned on during alarm? Response: Yes. SF-1's on the roof shall activate during alarm. g. Question: Are smoke detectors on the floors required? MBC calls for automatic smoke detection in mechanical, electrical, telephone, elevator machine room, etc., not the halls. If the rooms mentioned are sprinkled, the detectors are not required. Response: The exception referenced in the question is from the Michigan Building Code which does not apply to this project. Provide smoke detectors as shown on the drawings. h. Question: Will the elevators have speaker circuits for communication to the cabs? Response: Provide speaker connection to the elevator cabs from the fire alarm control panel. i. Question: Are there supply/return dampers on the floors? Response: At the existing supply opening, a fire damper exists. No changes are planned to the existing damper. j. Question: What color do you want the signaling devices? Response: Provide white devices.

2 ADDENDUM NO November 16, 2015 k. Question: Is 20% spare capacity for the system design required? Response: Provide 20% spare capacity for the notification devices for potential expansion into additional sensory-impaired units. l. Question: Will the floors be phased in and the existing demolished as we go? Will there be a separate test with the system and the City each time? Response: Project drawings indicate that the fire alarm system will continue to function through the course of the project. Phasing is described in the project as well. Consider the answer to the question item n in your planning for the changes to the fire alarm system and the coordination with inspecting officials. m. Question: Will the trash room be allowed to be used for coring between the floors? Response: Yes. Also, portions of tenant storage which are not covered with tenant lockers may be utilized as well. Maintain fire rating at new penetrations. n. Question: The project plans seem to indicate the existing fire alarm system is to remain while the specifications seem to indicate a new system. Can you clarify which is correct? Response: The intent is to modify the existing fire alarm system to comply with the requirements of the project. 2. CLARIFICATIONS; a. Question: According to the building elevations, the height of the building does not appear to qualify as a high-rise. Will the system need to be treated as a high-rise and include the firefighter phones, voice evacuation, etc., or will the specifications change to using horn/strobes and eliminate the high-rise requirements? It is my understanding that this change was done for the Columbia Court project. Response: Michigan Building Code requires buildings with floors above 55' to be classified as a high-rise, which is the case with this building. Therefore, fire phones, voice evacuation, etc., will be required. b. Question: The elevator will not have any permit required work, and the existing smoke detectors are 110VAC standalone for the elevator only (not interfaced with the fire alarm system). This complies with the current Michigan elevator codes; however, the specifications call for the elevator recall detectors to be interfaced with the building fire alarm. Will the existing elevator recall system need to be changed? Response: Project drawings indicate that the smoke detectors at each floor level be removed and reinstalled with concealed conduit and boxes above the new ceiling at potentially new devices which can interface with the building fire alarm system. The elevator subcontractor will need to maintain the function of the elevator recall system through the course of the project. c. Question: Will the intercom wiring need to be installed in conduit? If so, please clarify the conduit installation as Sheet E3.0 Note 13 indicates the conduit to be installed vertically going unit to unit starting on the ground floor, and on Sheet E4.0, the note indicates that the conduit is to be installed horizontally above the corridor ceiling. Response: In accordance with Door Intercom Schematic on Sheet E4.0, intercom wiring will need to be installed at conduit. Regarding Note 13 on Sheet E3.0, revise Note 13 to read as follows: 13. PROVIDE CONDUIT ABOVE UNIT CEILING FROM CORRIDOR EXTENDING DOWN IN UNIT WALL TO DOOR INTERCOM LOCATION. SEE SCHEMATIC ON SHEET E4.0.

3 ADDENDUM NO November 16, 2015 d. Question: At the beginning of the scope, it states to retain all hoistway equipment, and then at the end as part of the cab interior upgrades, it states to clad hoistway doors and frames at every landing. I just want to make sure that we should do this. Response: Clad hoistway doors and frames as stated in the drawings and specifications. e. Question: Regarding fire service operation, when it was last modernized, it was fully upgraded with a new fire service system/smokes so this is all set. Response: Regarding the fire service operation, the elevator subcontractor shall maintain the function of the existing fire service operation through the course of the project. f. Question: The return walls in both cabs have the existing old wood laminate that I would assume you want to be cladded in stainless steel #4, but no mention of this is on the spec. Please confirm. Response: Remove existing wood laminate and install stainless steel. g. Question: The cabs currently do NOT have cameras. Please address. Response: Existing cabs do have cameras which currently are not functioning. The scope of the project will be to connect the elevator cab cameras to the security system via traveling cable connection. h. Question: There is a service warranty in the specifications which is normal if a complete modernization was being performed. Since this is merely a cab interior and door work upgrade, I would assume this would not apply. Furthermore, Schindler already has an ongoing service contract with Clark East Towers. Response: Bid service warranty as indicated in the specifications. i. Question: All units, the bathroom exhaust fans, kitchen range hoods show new double lines to the new device. One line hooks to existing duct. Can you tell me what the second line is for? Response: Two lines shown indicate new section of duct connecting to the existing exhaust duct and extending to the new exhaust fan or range hood. j. Question: T-SH-I existing tubs, please clarify what we are doing there. lt calls for a walkin shower. Please advise. Response: On the Plumbing Fixture Schedule, delete the shower model number under T/SH-1. The fixture is an existing tub to remain. Refer to Unit A (Alternate similar plumbing/mechanical plans) on Sheet MP1.0 for typical scope of work at existing tubs to remain. k. Question: LAV-3 calls for Swanstone top with integral bowl, but it also calls for selfrimming lav in same top. Please advise. Response: Under LAV-3 description, delete SELF-RIMMING LAVATORY and revise to INTEGRAL BOWL. l. Question: Is the cleaning and sealant of all the balconies in the masonry scope? Response: See Drawing Sheets A3.0, A3.1 and A3.2; Construction Notes C and G. Cleaning and sealant replacement is typical at all balconies.

4 ADDENDUM NO November 16, 2015 m. Question: Is coating of all balconies in the scope? Response: Provide waterproof coating at all balconies unless noted otherwise. Bottom of balconies shall not receive waterproof coating. Balconies at Units 209, 211, 213 and 215 shall receive roofing membrane per Detail 1/A5.0 in lieu of waterproof coating. n. Question: Are we to figure on removing all the sealant that has been applied to the mortar joints? Response: Repair of mortar joints shall be included as part of the Tuckpointing Allowance; see Specification Section ALLOWANCES. o. Question: Are all expansion joints to have the sealant removed and replaced? Response: Replacement of expansion joints sealant shall not be included as part of the base bid. p. Question: Repair Procedure I says to grout core if found empty and coat steel. With the unknown, how do you want us to handle this? Response: The Contractor shall include in the base bid, labor and material to perform Repair Procedure I where noted in the drawings, including repair of masonry cores devoid of grout and coating of exposed steel as described in the drawings and specifications. q. Question: At the new apartment balcony doors, do you want wood jamb extensions or drywall returns to make up the difference between the door manufacturer's standard jamb depth and the existing jamb depth? Response: Provide jamb extensions to match existing jamb dimensions. See Specification Section CLAD WOOD DOORS. 3. SPECIFICATIONS; UNIT PRICES: a. Unit Price 5; revise cost to read $ /each. b. Add Unit Price 10 as follows: Unit Price 10: Masonry wing wall repair (Repair Procedure I)... $ /l.f. 4. SPECIFICATIONS; GLAZING; B. Products; 3. Glass Usage; a.
