Contribute to broad community engagement by acting as primary contact for represented communities, and by enhancing the project s interaction with a wide range of stakeholders. Make recommendations to the MPRB Commissioners for an updated Master Plan for Bossen Field Park which strives to meet both citywide recreation and neighborhood recreation needs, and ensuring sustainable, accessible, safe and welcoming design. 3 Equity and Equality MPRB has recently joined the local Alliance for Racial Equity. During this project we will work to develop and use tools to work toward improving equity in park planning. offering the same thing to all people equally, regardless of who they are or their needs. offering specific options to specific people based on their needs and characteristics. Equity and Community Outreach An example of using equity in a city project from Seattle. Large budget cuts were needed. Past practice (cut least busy centers) and equity (impacts concentrated in neighborhoods with less options). Staff reconsidered criteria to determine cuts and found a more equitable solution which did not focus impacts to certain areas. At Bossen, we will strive to identify key decision points and understand and frame decisions to promote equity process, (outreach methods and discussion) design (balancing community and recreation needs) Funding (prioritize considering balance & equity) Project Scope 3
