3 Project Purpose and Need Improve traffic operations and safety conditions at the intersections of NE 203 rd Street/Ives Dairy Road and/or NE 215 th Street and the Florida East Coast (FEC) Rail Corridor 3 Conflicts may increase due to expanding rail activity Florida East Coast (FEC) Railroad projected 10 freight trains in each direction All Aboard Florida (AAF) initiative Double tracking program Projected 32 daily trains Tri Rail Coastal Link (TRCL) Aventura Station Projected 48 daily commuter trains

4 Project Purpose and Need Through this study, we will work to Eliminate vehicle conflicts with existing freight and future passenger trains of the FEC Railway Address intersection design deficiencies Promote safe and efficient traffic and pedestrian movement at the intersections 4

18 Economic Analysis FDOT has completed Return on Investment (ROI)/ Benefit Cost Analyses (BCA) on numerous projects over the past 3 years ROI Task Team, Chaired by Jim Wood, Director of Policy Planning, is developing recommendations for FDOT Executive Board 18
