3 ir Handling Units 3 The EU Ecodesign Directive Reduce environmental impact with product design With the Directive 9/125/EC establishing a framework for the setting of ecodesign requirements for energy-related products in brief Ecodesign or ErP Directive the EU sets minimum requirements for the energy efficiency of such products. The energy label should permit the end user to compare products easily, enabling them to select energy-efficient products. In contrast to other electrical equipment, the energy classes on the labels of residential ventilation equipment are determined by a calculated parameter, the specific energy consumption, or SEC. This value should display the energy-saving potential of the equipment used in kilowatt hours per m² per year. So a Unit X may well achieve a better energy class when operated according to demand (e.g. moisture and CO 2 sensors influence the air quantity), than in a time-controlled or manually-controlled version. 4 4 ir Handling Units Quality of life starts with the climate Residential ventilation by Systemair This is how your controlled residential ventilation works: Using the rooms, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, your ventilation system removes waste air from inside. Depending on the system, a heat exchanger extracts the heat from used air and, at the same time, outdoor air is taken in and is filtered. If necessary, the heat exchanger pre-tempers the cool outside air using heat from the waste air. The outdoor air then flows through the vents into the rooms. From there, the supply air flows through openings in the doors (door gap or grille) across the overflow area (corridor and floorboards) into the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. This way, the two different types of air don t mix. The result: an optimum air ratio and a pleasant room climate.

The new control panel makes it easy to control the climate in your home. ll settings and features are easily available from the touchscreen control panel with a user friendly interface that comes as standard with all the units and an Internet ccess Module as an extra accessory. UTO 2 active user modes are UTO and MNUL UTO mode automatically controls airflow for best air quality. uto mode is available if demand control, external fan control and/or week schedule functions are configured. MNUL MNUL mode is for manual selection of airflow levels. The user can choose one of 3 available airflow speeds: LOW/NORML/HIGH. Off can be selected if allowed in the service menu. 5 temporary user modes HOLIDY HOLIDY mode is an energy saving and economical mode. It lowers the airflow and activates the eco mode for power saving. It is used when users are away from home for a longer period of time. CROWDED CROWDED mode increase airflow and ensures sufficient supply of fresh air even when the room is crowded. WY mode lowers the airflow and activates the eco mode for power saving. It is used when the user is away from home for a short period of time. REFRESH mode increase airflow levels to replace indoor air with fresh air in a short period of time. WY REFRESH FIREPLCE mode creates a positive overpressure inside the building for better smoke extraction by reduce the extract airflow. FIREPLCE

6 6 ir Handling Units SVE Connection board (CB) ll external connections like duct sensors etc. can be connected to the unit via the Connection box that has hardwired connections direct to the built in mainboard. IM (Internet ccess Module) Use the Internet ccess Module to accsess the unit from a mobile device. The Connection board on the unit and via WIFI or Ethernet through the gateway at home makes it possible. Moisture sensor The demand controlled Ventilation with respect to humidity you get from the built in humidity sensor delivered as standard from factory. Casing ll units are made from double skinned galvanized steel with insulation in between. In addition part of the panels has extra condensation insulation to prevent condensation. New control system The new upgraded and integrated control system is the brain of the SVE unit. ll settings and features are easily available from the control panel with a capacitive touch screen and user friendly interface that is standard for all units. Efficient EC fans ll units are equipped with high efficiency fans with EC technology. The fans are backbladed radical fans that ensure high quality, low sound and low running cost. Stepless EC rotor motor ll units with rotating heat exchangers have a variable speed rotor motor that allows to vary the rotation speed of the heat exchanger allowing: Moisture transfer control ccurate temperature control

7 ir Handling Units 7 Control Functions Temperature Control Different temperature control functions are available to select: Supply air temperature control. Room air temperature control. Extract air temperature control. ECO mode ECO mode is power saving function, operating by setting a lower temperature set-point for the heater to avoid its early activation. If the outdoor temperature is very low and the heater was activated anyway, then during the upcoming daytime indoor temperature will be increased using heat exchanger so that accumulated heat could be used during next cold nigh-time. ECO mode can be activated manually in control panel or automatically (when way or Holiday modes are activated) and status selection available in Temperature settings menu. Systemair cloud Demand control CO 2 and / or humidity sensors are available for indoor air quality monitoring and controls airflow in accordance. Demand control function is activated when uto control mode is selected. Defrosting control Defrosting functions (Bypass defrosting, Stop defrosting, Secondary air defrosting) are dependent on unit configuration (Reheater and Secondary air damper present). If Extra controller configured as Preheater - no defrosting functions available since Preheater s purpose is to VOID defrosting. Defrosting behaviour is different for different system types (Plate/Rotating). Cooling recovery / Free cooling The cooling recovery function can be set manually in the control menu and is activated automatically when exhaust air temperature is considerably lower than outdoor air temperature. The free cooling function purpose is to decrease the indoor temperature with low energy consumption by using only the cool outdoor air during night-time. It is a selectable function (On/Off) in the control panel. Relative humidity In buildings with high or periodically high relative humidity, rotating heat exchanger with variable speed rotor can be used to control the humidity transfer from the extract air back into the supply air. LOG IN The Cloud is a mediator between the user and the unit. To access your unit via Cloud, it has to be connected to the internet via Internet ccess Module. The Cloud Service also has a notification feature. The unit alarm or other notifications can be pushed through to the user mobile device even if the PP is off (for this purpose the user should use google account). BMS The unit connected to building management systems and can be controlled with Modbus RS485 or Modbus TCP/IP via the Internet ccess Module (IM*), used with building management systems (BMS). * IM is sold as an accessory.
