2 Page 2 Book Review # 6 - by Jessica Watts The Complete Urban Gardener: How to grow things indoors and out by Sonia Day Compact and easy to manage at 288 pages this book boasts a great value with two books in one. It is in fact two completely separate books: one titled 'The Urban Gardener' the other 'The Urban Gardener Indoors'. In the first section, those who have felt left out of backyard gardening will gain knowledge of how to change their tiny balcony, patio, or concrete slab into an oasis and how to protect and nurture it through all four seasons. Learn which annuals work best in sun and shady conditions, which flowers are a no-no for the balcony, and how to accommodate difficult sites. As a bonus, readers will enjoy the second section on indoor plants that provides a list of no-hassle greenery, describes the specific care and maintenance of more popular houseplants, and explains how to deal with the challenges of indoor gardening. An easy and entertaining read, this book will provide new urban gardeners with plenty of information to start their journey, and may even provide experienced gardeners with some ideas on how to care for their outdoor and indoor plants.
