This stadard details the followig tests to categorise cables accordig to their fire withstad capabilities. Resistace to Fire 950 C for 3 hours - Category C The cable is tested by exposure to gas burer flames while passig a curret at its rated voltage. Four survival categories are defied i the Performace Table below. 9 Lodo Udergroud Limited Test for Fire Survivable Cables To fully assess the Fire Survival qualities of Pyro MI Cable ad i respose to requests from major specifiers, more rigorous testig criteria have bee devised. The aim of the tests is to exted the coditios of BS 6387 to effectively recreate a more realistic fire situatio by exposig the cable to sigificat thermal ad physical shock. I a fire eviromet cable has to survive ot oly the extremes of high temperature but also the impact from fallig debris together with water exposure from fire fightig equipmet. I the aftermath of a fire the cable must also withstad bedig, further impact ad possible water immersio durig buildig ad structural restoratio. Cable struck directly with a steel bar (at the cetre of the burer) every 10 miutes durig a 3 hour period i a flame at 950 C. The Stadard Brass 105 C Seal is suitable for the majority of geeral wirig applicatios. However sice Pyroteax Cables are used i a wide variety of eviromets, a comprehesive rage of seals ad isulators are available to suit every eed. A complete termiatio comprises a seal to provide a meas of electrical coectio ad a glad to secure the cable ito the appropriate apparatus. Exterally threaded brass compressio glads are available with ISO metric threads as stadard. Other thread forms are available o request. Iterally threaded 20mm ISO metric brass compressio glads are available for the full rage of 2, 3 ad 4 coductor, 500 volt light duty cables. Stadard Seal High Temperature Glazed Isulator For eviromets up to 250 C, a glazed isulator ca be costructed as follows: Icreased Safety Seal Fire Resistat Seal Cotiuous operatig temperature rage - 80 C to 105 C. These stadard seals are suitable for all geeral wirig applicatios. Available i plai or earth tail.
