2 DM3000 Controller Operation 2.1 Power Up and Initialisation, Screensaver and Front Panel On power up, following a change of software revision or a system configuration setting, the firmware will reconfigure for the prescribed setup and will display a sequence of asterisks on the display, which will take a few seconds to complete. The screensaver is activated after a period of inactivity, and automatically clears after a pressing one of the arrow keys or the M button. The DM3000 menu items are accessed by use of the cursor buttons on its front panel, please see menu map in Appendix A (Drawing No OS-9521) for further detail. DM3000 Front Panel Buttons A selected menu item is highlighted using a sequential flashing underscore and a selected variable/character is indicated by a non-flashing underscore. M is used to select and set system variables, once the correct PIN number has been entered. 2.2 PIN Screens The PIN screen allows Personal Identification Number entry. Password setting has three levels of security. 0 allows no system changes, 1 allows some changes and 2 allows access to all variables. If the top right hand corner of a settable variable display shows s+, then the system security level will be set to 0. If it shows m+ then the system security level will be set to 1 or 2. Page 6

To access the PIN number entry, go to PIN and press M button (The m+ in the display will change to M+ the PINs for the two active levels are entered by sequential selection and setting of the characters. When the PIN number is entered, press M and proceed further through menu as necessary. PIN1 security clearance gives a display showing settable items with m+ in the top right hand corner of the display. Settable items requiring higher clearance (PIN 2) show s+ in the top right hand corner of the screen. To change the PINs first requires activation of the existing password code (By setting the current password here) for the appropriate security level, and then changing the PIN under the System/Setup screen. The status of the system alarms mapped to Output Relays is displayed by nine LEDs arranged in a group on the front panel. 2.3 Menu Hierarchy DM3000 Front Panel Alarms The menu hierarchy is organized into the following top level categories. 20 2.38 Telephony Approvals The modem fitted to the DM3000 is a generic 14.4 Kbps type and is designed for use throughout Europe and is compliant with CTR21, the standard for pan- European telecommunications approval. The modem supports protocols for data transmission from 14.4KBPS down to 300 BPS, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22,V.21, Bell 212A and 103, Modem Control and Configuration via standard AT Commands, Error Correction; V.42, MNP2-4 and MNP10,Data Compression; V.42bis and MNP5 providing a maximum effective data rate of 57,600 bps. The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices which may be connected to a telephone line and still have all of these devices ring when the number is called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to the line, as determined by the REN, you should contact the local telephone company to determine the maximum REN for your calling area. The modem is not intended for use on coin service lines provided by the telephone company (this does not apply to private coin telephone applications which use standard telephone lines). Page 20

2.39 Battery Replacement Warning The DM3000 is not generally regarded as an in-field serviceable part. However, when it becomes necessary, the Lithium cell battery on the controller motherboard, may be replaced by a suitably qualified person. It is positioned immediately behind the front panel. When the battery is totally discharged or removed the Random Access Memory contents are lost. CAUTION Danger of explosion if battery incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacture. Dispose of batteries according to the manufactures instruction. Battery Warning Label Page 21

3. DM3000 SNMP CARD The PC56 / DM3000 system is fitted with the APC Web / SNMP AP9606DM3 Management Card. This card is used in all APC AC and DC Products the only difference being the firmware, which comprises the AOS (APC operating system module aos300.bin) and The application module (dm3k100.bin). Upgrades are available on the APC website. The minimum operating requirements are Windows 95 and Internet Explorer 4. The APC Web / SNMP Management Card provides the following features: Gives access to the DC system event log and basic system parameters by WEB Browser, FTP or Telnet. Facilitates reading and setting of many system parameters using Telnet. Allows the setup of SNMP traps and notification for events. Fully configurable using the APC Management Wizard The APC Web / SNMP Management Card is supplied with the following: The most up to date firmware already installed. An APC serial cable for the local programming and access to the Web card. CD with all firmware up dates and documents Including the Users Guide, Addendum and Quick Start Manual. Network Setting Configurations To use the card on a network it must be configured for these correct TCP/IP addresses: The IP address of the card The subnet mask The default gateway Once these addresses have been obtained from the system administrator they can be programmed into the card (refer to the Quick Start Manual on the CD for the various options) using the APC Management Wizard or via the Console Serial port on the top of the PC56 master cubicle. Page 22

Web / SNMP Card Front panel The card has a reset button and two LED indicators above the Network socket the operation of these is described below: Reset button: this resets the management card without removing the power. The left hand LED indicates the RX/TX link to the network system and will flash each time a packet of information is received. The right hand LED indicates the management card status as below: Off No power to card Green No valid network settings Flashing Green No valid TCP/IP settings Red Hardware problem Flashing red BOOTP requests (refer to Users Guide) The Control Console (Lost Password) The APC Web / SNMP card has a default User Name and Password of APC and can be accessed in many ways (refer to the Users Guide on the CD) however the only way to get access to the card if the Password has been lost is via the Console Port. On the PC1200/DM3000 this is a 9 way D type connector on top of the system master cubicle. Refer to PC1200 handbook for its correct location. To use the Console port, follow the instructions below: Connect up the APC black smart cable ( ) between the Console port on the top of the PC56 and a spare RS232 port on a computer. Note do not use the port on the front of the DM3000 as this can only communicate with the APC GUI. Run a terminal program such as Hyper Terminal and set up for 2400 bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control, save the configuration. Press ENTER (repeatedly if necessary) to display the message USER NAME, Type APC and return then type APC for the message PASWORD and return. Press the Reset button on the Management card Press enter and log on as normal with APC (this process must be completed within 30 seconds or it must be repeated) From the main menu, select in order, System, UserManger, Administrator and change the password settings. Press CTRL+C to exit and Log off to save the changes. Page 23

Removal / refitting of the Web Card To replace the SNMP card proceed as follows; 1 Unscrew all four equipment screws securing the SNMP front panel and carefully lift away from the cubicle. Note; Care should be taken when lifting the panel forward as a ribbon cable is attached to the rear of the SNMP module. 2 Remove the two sets of nuts and washers securing the SNMP plastic enclosure and SNMP Module PCA to the inner side of the 19 front panel. 3 Remove the old SNMP Module PCA from it s plastic enclosure, then carefully slide the new SNMP Module PCA into the plastic enclosure. 4 Fit the SNMP plastic enclosure and new SNMP Module PCA back onto the inner side of the 19 front panel and secure in position with the original two sets of nuts and washers. 5 Refit the module into the cubicle and secure in position using the original four fixing screws. 6 Fill in all necessary site documentation, including the service log in the accompanying handbook.
