2 WARNINGS Harmful when swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Toxic to fish. Store away from food, feed, seed, fertilizer and other agricultural chemicals. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. FLAMMABLE: Do not store or handle near open flame. Do not freeze. RE-ENTRY INTERVAL: Do not enter treated area until spray deposit has dried unless wearing protective clothing. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water; compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the weed against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier or registration holder in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS Avoid inhalation of spray mist and fumes. Wash with water after accidental skin contact. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. Wear rubber gloves and face shield for protection when handling the concentrate. Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying herbicide or before washing face and hands and change of clothing. Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow to drain for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add the rinsings to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Destroy empty container by perforation and flattening and never use for any other purpose. 1

3 RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT: For resistance management, TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is a Group code K1 herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to TRIFLURALIN 480 EC and other Group Code K1 herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds may not be controlled by TRIFLURALIN 480 EC or any other Group Code K1 herbicides. To delay herbicide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of herbicides from the same herbicide Group Code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different herbicide Group Codes. Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into weed control programmes. For specific information on resistance management contact the registration holder of this product. 4 (*) NOTE: Only variable control of Tribulus terrestris may be expected. Plants which germinate from a greater depth than the material is incorporated will not be controlled. Primrose (Oenothera spp.), tall khaki weed (Tagetes minuta) and thornapple (Datura spp.) are not controlled. IMPORTANT: This product controls annual grasses and some broadleaf weeds. Other weeds that were not present during the development trials with the product, may possibly also be controlled to a certain degree. The registration holder does not accept any responsibility for unlisted weeds. USE RESTRICTIONS The application of TRIFLURALIN 480 EC may lead to a reduction in growth or even dying-off of cotton plants which are weakened by soil-borne diseases. The use of a fungicide in the furrow as well as the treatment of seed are strongly recommended to control seedling diseases. Where transplanted tomatoes and cabbages are grown in quick rotation (three or more crops per annum) with other crops, only crops not susceptible to TRIFLURALIN 480 EC should be planted as a follow-up. In addition to the crops mentioned in the table below, the following crops may also be planted directly after a treated field has been harvested: Castor oil, safflower, sugar cane, cucurbits, potatoes, brassicas, mint and celery. All other crops require a waiting period of at least 12 months between treatment and planting, except for sorghum which requires 18 months. Under certain conditions TRIFLURALIN 480 EC may damage following susceptible crops, even though applied according to the recommendations. Do not use on groundnut cultivars Norden and Harts. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC should not be used on winter crops in the Western Cape. 3

5 DIRECTIONS FOR USE : Use only as directed TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is an emulsifiable concentrate which is mixed with water and applied as a spray. Between 200 to 400 litre of the spray mixture must be applied per hectare. Accurately calibrate spray equipment prior to application. Use fan type nozzles to ensure a uniform coverage. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC does not control established weeds and therefore it should be applied only to lands which have been cleanly cultivated. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is sensitive to U.V. degradation and should therefore immediately (within 10 minutes) after application be incorporated to a depth of 5 to 10 cm (set off-set disc to a depth of 10 to 15 cm) to prevent a loss in efficacy. If possible, spraying and incorporation should be carried out simultaneously. Too shallow incorporation and / or uneven mixing with the soil can lead to unsatisfactory weed control. It is important that large clods should be broken up and TRIFLURALIN 480 EC must be thoroughly mixed with the top soil. To ensure proper mixing of soil, disc implements should be drawn at a speed of between 7,5 and 10 km per hour. FOR THE BEST RESULTS CROSS CULTIVATIONS ARE ESSENTIAL. THE USE OF TRIFLURALIN IN ORCHARDS AND VINEYARDS. Because TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is sensitive to UV degradation it must not be used in orchards or vineyards where it cannot be incorporated or mixed with the topsoil. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC may be used during establishment of orchards or vineyards provided that the following practices are adhered to: Prior to planting the soil must be thoroughly worked to prepare a favourable seedbed. Apply TRIFLURALIN 480 EC broadcast or in pre-determined planting rows and mix immediately with surface soil as described under DIRECTIONS FOR USE above. When planting holes are made first skip the surface layer of treated soil aside and then make the planting hole to the desired depth. After the young tree or vine is placed in the hole the subsoil taken out of the hole must be replaced around the roots prior to the treated soil being replaced on the surface. Do not apply treated soil in the root zone as this may retard root development. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is not prone to leaching and will thus not leach to the root zone of the planted trees or vines. Do not use TRIFLURALIN 480 EC in nurseries. 4

Hou buite bereik van kinders, oningeligte persone en diere. VLAMBAAR: Moenie naby oop vlam bêre of hanteer nie. Moet nie laat vries nie. HERBETREDING: Moet nie behandelde gebied betree alvorens die spuitneerslag droog is nie, tensy beskermende oorklere gedra word. Alhoewel hierdie middel omvattend onder 'n groot verskeidenheid toestande getoets is, waarborg die registrasiehouer nie dat dit onder alle toestande doeltreffend sal wees nie aangesien die werking en effek daarvan beïnvloed kan word deur faktore soos abnormale grond-, klimaats- en bergingstoestande; kwaliteit van verdunningswater; verenigbaarheid met ander stowwe wat nie op die etiket aangedui is nie en die voorkoms van weerstand van die onkruid teen die betrokke middel sowel as die metode, tyd en akkuraatheid van toediening. Verder aanvaar die registrasiehouer nie verantwoordelikheid vir skade aan gewasse, plantegroei, die omgewing of vir nadelige effek op mens en dier of vir 'n gebrek aan prestasie van die betrokke middel as gevolg van die versuim deur die gebruiker om etiketaanwysings na te kom of as gevolg van die ontstaan van toestande wat nie kragtens die registrasie voorsien kon word nie. Raadpleeg die verskaffer of registrasiehouer in geval van enige onsekerheid. VOORSORGMAATREËLS Voorkom inaseming van spuitnewel en dampe. Spoel af met water in geval van toevallige velkontak. oorkom besoedeling van voedsel, voer, drinkwater en eetgerei. Keer die leë houer om oor die spuittenk of mengbak en dreineer vir minstens 30 sekondes nadat die vloei tot 'n gedrup verminder het. Spoel die houer daarna drie keer uit met 'n volume water gelykstaande aan 'n minimum van 10 % van die houer. Gooi die spoelwater by die inhoud van die spuittenk voordat die houer op die voorgeskrewe wyse vernietig word. Vernietig leë houer deur gate daarin te maak en plat te druk. Moet vir geen ander doel gebruik word nie. Dra rubberhandskoene en gesigskerm vir beskerming tydens hantering van die konsentraat. Moenie eet, drink of rook tydens vermenging of toediening van die onkruiddoder, asook nie voordat gesig en hande gewas is en skoon klere aangetrek is nie. 6

8 WEERSTANDSWAARSKUWING: Vir weerstandsbestuur is TRIFLURALIN 480 EC as? Groepkode K1 onkruiddoder geklassifiseer. Enige populasie van? spesifieke onkruid mag individue insluit wat? natuurlike weerstand teen TRIFLURALIN 480 EC, of enige ander Groepkode K1 onkruiddoder het. Indien hierdie onkruiddoders herhaaldelik aangewend word, kan die weerstandbiedende individue uiteindelik die onkruidpopulasie oorheers. Hierdie weerstandbiedende onkruide sal moontlik nie deur TRIFLURALIN 480 EC of enige ander Groepkode K1 onkruiddoder, beheer word nie. Om weerstand teen onkruiddoders te vertraag: Vermy die eksklusiewe herhaaldelike gebruik van onkruiddoders in dieselfde onkruiddodergroepkode. Wissel af met, of gebruik tenkmengsels van produkte in verskillende onkruiddodergroepkodes. Integreer ander beheermaatreëls (chemies, verbouing, biologies) in onkruidbeheerprogramme. Vir spesifieke inigting ooor weerstandsbestuur, kontak die registrasiehouer van hierdie produk. Plante wat dieper ontkiem as wat die middel ingewerk word sal nie beheer word nie. Nagblom (Oenothera spp.), langkakiebos (Tagetes minuta) en stinkolie (Datura spp.) word nie beheer nie. BELANGRIK: Hierdie produk beheer eenjarige grasse en sommige breëblaaronkruide. Ander onkruide wat nie tydens die ontwikkelingsproewe met die middel voorgekom het nie, kan moontlik ook in meerdere of mindere mate beheer word. Die registrasiehouer aanvaar egter geen aanspreeklikheid ten opsigte van ongelyste onkruide nie. GEBRUIKSBEPERKINGE Die toediening van TRIFLURALIN 480 EC kan daartoe aanleiding gee dat katoensaailinge wat deur gronddraende siektes verswak is, se groei belemmer of van die plante selfs afsterf. Die gebruik van 'n swamdoder in die voor asook die behandeling van saad word dus sterk aanbeveel om saailingsiektes te beheer. Wanneer uitgeplante tamaties en kool in vinnige rotasie met ander gewasse gekweek word (drie of meer oeste per jaar), moet alleenlik gewasse wat nie gevoelig vir TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is nie, geplant word. Die volgende gewasse kan, in aanvulling tot die onderstaande tabel, ook direk na 'n behandelde oes geplant word: Kasterolie, wilde saffraan, suikerriet, rankgewasse, aartappels, brassica's, kruisement en seldery. Vir alle ander gewasse is daar 'n wagperiode van ten minste 12 maande tussen behandeling en plant, behalwe vir sorghum wat 'n periode van 18 maande vereis. Onder sekere toestande kan TRIFLURALIN 480 EC gevoelige gewasse wat mekaar deur wisselbou opvolg, beskadig, selfs waar dit volgens aanwysings gebruik word. Moenie op grondboonkultivars Norden en Harts gebruik nie. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC moet nie op winteraanplantings in die Wes-Kaap gebruik word nie. 8

10 GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS: Gebruik slegs soos aangedui TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is 'n emulgeerbare konsentraat wat met water gemeng en as 'n bespuiting toegedien word. Tussen 200 en 400 liter van die spuitmengsel moet per hektaar toegedien word. Kalibreer spuittoerusting noukeurig voor toediening. Gebruik waaiertipe spuitpunte wat 'n eweredige bedekking verseker. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC beheer nie gevestigde onkruide nie. Dit moet dus slegs as voor-opkoms onkruiddoder op landerye wat skoon bewerk is, toegedien word. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is gevoelig vir UV afbraak en moet daarom onmiddellik (binne 10 minute) na toediening tot 'n diepte van 5 tot 10 cm (stel skotteleg 10 tot 15 cm diep) ingewerk word om verlies van effektiwiteit te voorkom. Indien moontlik, moet bespuiting en inwerking gelyktydig plaasvind. Te vlak inwerking en / of onegalige grondvermenging kan wisselvallige onkruidbeheer tot gevolg hê. Dit is belangrik dat groot kluite opgebreek en TRIFLURALIN 480 EC deeglik met die bogrond vermeng word. Ten einde deeglike vermenging van grond te verkry, moet skottelêe teen 'n voldoende snelheid (7,5 tot 10 km/h) beweeg. VIR DIE BESTE RESULTATE IS KRUISBEWERKING NOODSAAKLIK. Die gebruik van TRIFLURALIN 480 EC in vrugteboorde en wingerde. Omdat TRIFLURALIN 480 EC gevoelig is vir UV-afbraak moet dit nie in boorde of wingerde gebruik word waar dit nie ingewerk of met die bogrond vermeng kan word nie. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC kan tydens aanplant van boorde of wingerde gebruik word, mits die volgende praktyke toegepas word: Voor aanplant moet die grond deeglik in n gunstige saadbed voorberei word. Dien TRIFLURALIN 480 EC breedwerpig of in vooraf bepaalde plantrye toe en vermeng onmiddellik met bogrond soos onder GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS hierbo beskryf word. Wanneer plantgate gemaak word, skep eers die boonste laag behandelde grond opsy en maak dan die plantgat tot verlangde diepte. Nadat die boompie of wingerdstok in die plantgat geplaas is, vul eers die plantgat rondom die wortels met die ondergrond voordat die behandelde grond weer bo-op teruggeplaas word. Moenie behandelde grond by die wortelsone plaas nie, dit kan wortelontwikkeling strem. TRIFLURALIN 480 EC is nie geneig om te loog nie en sal dus nie na die wortelsone van die geplante wingerdstok of boompie loog nie. Moenie TRIFLURALIN 480 EC in kwekerye gebruik nie. 9
