2 Before vou start... Proper instaation is your responsibiity. Make sure you have everything necessary for correct instaation. It is the persona responsibiity and obigation of the customer to contact a quaified instaer to assure that eectrica and pumbing instaations meet a nationa and oca codes and ordinances. Proper eectrica, drain and water suppy ines must be avaiabe or must be instaed as specified within shaded area. Wiring shoud not cross in front of motor or dishwasher egs. See Eectrica, Water and Drain requirements. IMPORTANT: Observe a governing codes and ordinances. Read and foow the Eectrica requirements, Water requirements and Drain requirements sections before instaing dishwasher. Check ocation where dishwasher wi be instaed. The ocation shoud provide: Easy access to water, eectricity and drainage ines. Convenient oading -the best position is eft or right of kitchen sink. A side pane kit is avaiabe from your deaer for instaing your dishwasher at the end of a cabinet. Faiure to foow these instructions coud resut in death or serious injury. Persona Injury Avoid opening dishwasher door before dishwasher is instaed. Dishwasher, before it is instaed, may tip over when door is opened. Faiure to foow this instruction may resut in persona injury. No.-10 x /2 Phiips-head screws drain hose Remove parts from bag. Check that a parts were suppied. Pane A Eectrica requirements Eectrica Shock Hazard Eectrica ground is required on this appiance. Do Not ground to gas pipe. Do Not modify the power suppy cord pug. If it does not fit the outet, have a proper outet instaed by a quaified eectrician. Do Not use an extension cord with this appiance. Do Not have a fuse in the neutra or grounding circuit. A fuse in the neutra or grounding circuit coud resut in an eectrica shock. Check with a quaified eectrician if you are in doubt as to whether the appiance is propery grounded. Faiure to foow these instructions coud resut in death or serious injury. If codes permit and a separate grounding wire is used, it is recommended that a quaified eectrician determine that the grounding path is adequate. A 120-vot, 60-Hz, AC-ony, 15 or 20-ampere, fused eectrica suppy is required. Time-deay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. It is recommended that a separate circuit serving ony this appiance be provided. Copies of the standards isted may be obtained from: *Nationa Fire Protection Association Batterymarch Park Quincy. Massachusetts Recommended grounding method J-prong, groundingtype wa receptaze =. - -I u my pug groundin prong Figure 3 For your persona safety, this appiance must be grounded. This appiance is equipped with a power suppy cord having a 3-prong grounding pug. To minimize possibe shock hazard, the power suppy cord must be pugged into a mating 3-prong grounding-type wa receptace, grounded in accordance with Nationa Eectrica Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 - atest edition (*, See Pane A) and a oca codes and ordinances. See Figure 3. If a mating wa receptace is not avaiabe, it is the persona responsibiity and obigation of the customer to have a propery grounded 3-prong wa receptace instaed by a quaified eectrician. The receptace.. shoud II be instaed on the rear or sae wa of the cabinet next to dishwasher opening. IF POWER CORD CANNOT BE USED... When oca codes do not permit use of a power suppy cord with an undercounter dishwasher, the power suppy cord must be removed and dishwasher wired directy. To direct wire this product, order kit # Eectrica connections must be contained within the termina box and meet a oca codes and ordinances. IF THE POWER SUPPLY CORD IS REMOVED, THE DISHWASHER MUST BE CONNECTED WITH COPPER WIRE ONLY.
3 Water requfrements The hot water ine to the dishwasher must provide between psi water pressure. he hot water heater shoud be set to deiver 120-F water temperature to the dishwasher for best resuts. Use 3/8 minimum 0-D. copper tubing or /2 minimum pastic tubing inet ine. Dishwasher inet vave has 3/8 N.P.T. interna pipe thread. Drain requirements Now start... With dishwasher in kitchen. 1 n Put on goves and safety gasses. c abinet wa aternate --III ine ocations M water water- SUPPY /Pipe If power suppy cabe is used, insta a 3/4 U.L.-isted strain reief or conduit connector to connect the fexibe armored or non-metaic sheathed, copper cabe (with grounding wire) to the fused disconnect, circuit breaker or junction box. Run the cabe through the hoe in the cabinet opening. The cabe shoud extend 24 inches from the back wa. Remove 20 min. to foor The drain hose MUST have a high drain oop, 20 inches minimum ABOVE FLOOR, to prevent backfow or water siphoning out of dishwasher during operation. NOTE: An air gap MUST BE USED in the high drain oop if the drain hose is connected to house pumbing ower than 20 inches above the foor. Drain hose, suppied, meets AHAM DW-1 test standards, Cut - /2 hoe in cabinet wa for drain hose. Additiona drain ine (a minimum of /2 I.D. and no onger than 20 feet) can be used if needed n Rough in water ine to the dishwasher cabinet opening using one of the routing methods shown. Cut /2 or arger hoe in cabinet wai for water ine. 3 n Insta a shutoff vave in the water ine where it can be easiy used. 4 n Fush water ine into a bucket to get rid of any partices that may cog inet vave. Turn shutoff vave to the OFF position. 6 Make sure this cip stays attached to. n Remove the 4 screws attaching and toe pane to dishwasher using a /4 hex socket wrench, nut driver or Phiips screwdriver. Remove and toe pane. Make sure that grounding cip stays attached to. Set panes aside on a protective surface. Eectrica Shock Hazard Disconnect eectrica power at the service pane (fuse box or circuit breaker box). Faiure to do so coud resut in death or serious injury. Min. cutout Height Whee Number Position Of Turns (* To Adjust Iustration) Leveers wi Foradditioi height: 1. Add shims under the whees. 2. Turn front eveers (each turn is approximatey /16 in height). 7 n Measure height of cabinet opening from the front edge of the underside of cabinet opening to foor. Check chart for that height opening. Put the whees in the required position. Loosen and then turn front eveers the number of times indicated in the chart. The dishwasher shoud be instaed as eve as possibe from front to back. 5 n Cut a - /2 maximum hoe for power suppy cord or a 3/4 hoe for direct wiring in the cabinet or foor for the eectrica wiring to pass through. If this hoe is cut in a wood cabinet, sand the hoe unti it is smooth. If the hoe is cut in a meta cabinet, the hoe must be covered by a grommet (Part No ), avaiabe at your oca deaer or parts suppier. If a power suppy cord is used, insta wa receptace on rear or side wa of a cabinet next to dishwasher opening as indicated by the shaded areas shown, Pug dishwasher power suppy cord into this receptace. 4 You may have this type drain connector... or this 8 w Put spring-type drain hose camp over connector. Push drain hose onto connector, Use piers to open camp and side camp over drain hose and connector. Check that drain hose is secure. If screw-type camp is used instead of spring-type camp, use a 5116 nut driver to tighten drain hose securey to connector. To minimize noise and vibration, route drain hose to avoid contact with door springs, motor, water ine, cabinet or fooring. Do Not run drain hose over top of tub. Foor Damage Tit dishwasher backwards on whees when moving across foor. Faiure to do so may cause damage to foor covering. 9 w Latch dishwasher door. Push dishwasher into pace, siding drain hose through hoe cut in cabinet opening. Do not pinch power suppy cord or kink power suppy cabe between dishwasher and cabinet. 10 n Check that front eveing egs are firmy against the foor. Aign dishwasher door with cabinet doors, so that spacing is the same on both sides. 11 n Connect drain hose to an air gap or waste tee using one of the recommended or aternate methods. Cut drain hose connytor to fit, if neec& drain \ drain hose connector If connecting drain hose to an air gap or waste tee, cut end of drain hose as shown. Secure drain hose with screw-type or spring-type hose camp (camp type varies with dishwasher modes). If spring-type camp does not fit smaer section of drain hose connector, a smaer camp wi be needed. (Smaer camps are avaiabe at oca pumbing suppy distributors.) If connecting drain hose to a 7/8 disposer connector, DO NOT cut end of drain hose. Knock out pug from disposer inet. Secure drain hose with screw-type or spring-type hose camp, (camp type varies with dishwasher modes). DO NOT cut ribbed section to shorten drain hose. Drain hose to air gap to waste tee. If inet pug fas inside disposer, you must remove inet pug before connecting drain hose. If disposer is aready instaed in sink, you may need to take out disposer to remove inet pug. A parts are avaiabe through your deaer or oca hardware or pumbing store. CAUTION: Do Not soder water suppy ine within 6 inches of pastic water inet vave. Faiure to foow this instruction coud resut in product damage. Door and access and toe panes not shown. 14 II w Open dishwasher door and remove a shipping materias. Remove bottom rack. Pace a newspaper, arge sheet of paper or a towe over bottom of dishwasher to prevent screws or other items from dropping into the pump area when securing dishwasher to countertop. Persona Injury Hazard The dishwasher must be secured to the countertop to keep it from tipping when door is open. Do Not drop screws in dishwasher tub. If screws shoud fa into pump area, pump and motor damage may occur. Faiure to foow these instructions may resut in persona injury or product damage. 15 w Secure dishwasher to countertop with two, No.-1 0 x /2 Phiips-head screws from parts bag. You MUST secure dishwasher to keep it from tipping forward when door is opened or cosed. Do Not drop screws in dishwasher tub. Do Not run pipe or tubing across front of motor or dishwasher egs. Turn on water suppy and check for eaks. 13 n Check eectrica requirements. Be sure you have correct eectrica suppy and recommended grounding method. See Panes A and B for proper connection. 17 w Check door for proper operation, Door shoud cose easiy without samming and open with its own weight. If necessary, cose door and adjust both door springs by moving spring ends to different hoes in base. 18 n Take a few minutes to read the Use and Care Guide to fuy understand your new dishwasher. Cut meta edges may cause persona injury or damage to other materias. 1 n Push up with thumbs on each end of top trim to unsnap trim. Remove top trim and set it aside. 2 n Carefuy side coor upwards and remove. Do Not remove spacer. 3 n With desired coor facing out, bow and insert into frame. Side pane down into groove aong bottom of frame. bottom edge 4 n Line up edges of top trim with sides of frame. Tit back of 1 trim down and side into pace. Snap front of trim down to cover top edge of. To insta customized wood panes in door and Dishwasher door pane and access pane (if mode is so equipped) can be customized to match wood cabinets. A standard /4 (7/32 actua thickness) wood pane can be used as is for customizing the door and access panes. A door pane thicker than 7/32, requires routing the top and bottom to a 7/32 thickness. An thicker than 7/32, requires routing a four edges to a 7/32. It is recommended that a cabinetmaker cut the customized panes because of the precise cuts required. (See Figures 5 and 6.) Wood door pane Cut accuratey for a snug fit between door side frames. Note: Custom pane fits between, Not inside frame. Figure cear access when door is in open position. I I This pane is narrower than access pane. Fie or sand edges of w-d pans; to avoid Heavy-duty door springs must be used if custom door pane weighs more than 4 pounds. Heavy-duty Door Springs Kit, Part No , is avaiabe from your oca deaer or parts suppier. Maximum door weight is 8 pounds. Save coor and spacer for future use. Part No Rev. B Insert wood into frame. Side pane down into groove aong bottom of access pane frame. It may be necessary to remove the two screws securing top of to dishwasher frame and tit forward to insta some wood panes. 11 Line up edges of top trim with sides of access pane frame. Tit back of trim down and side into pace. Snap front of trim down to cover top edge of wood. Benton Harbor, M If the dishwasher is not operating propery... Check these points: Is the door cosed tighty and atched securey? Has the cyce been set correcty to start the dishwasher? Is the water turned on? Has a house fuse bown or circuit breaker tripped? Has eectrica power been interrupted? Note: If the motor has stopped because of overoad, it wi automaticay reset itsef within a few minutes. If after checking these points the dishwasher sti does not run or compete a cyce, ca for service. If you need assistance...
