The Mansell part of the name is first mentioned in The Book of Fees which contains a reference of to the vill of Hope Mal Oysel, and then Hope Maloisel in Hope Mauncell is listed in the register of parish returns towards the rebuilding of St Paul s Cathedral around 1678.

Just before exiting Ryeford turn right signposted for Pontshill and Hope Mansell and follow this lane for a little under a mile until reaching Parkfields. Turn left signposted for Hope Mansell and continue on the lane for just over a mile until Sutton Barn appears on your left, immediately after turn right up the driveway entrance to the Streete and Streete Farmhouse is straight ahead.
