52 Project Overview Project Goals The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Reconstruc on and Cowles Conservatory Renova on has three general areas of focus: 1. Strengthen Infrastructure Repair and/or replace deteriora ng garden features: stairways, planters, walkways, fences, trees/plant material, water pond, parking lot 2. Increase Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Introduce storm water management, improve drainage, irriga on, and improve energy efficiency. 3. Expand Accessibility and Safety Upgrade accessibility throughout, improve safety features, and replace furnishings.

53 Funding Overview Project Funding Sources: A. Legisla ve Bonding Appropria on: $8,500,000 B. Mississippi Watershed Management Organiza on (MWMO): Up to $1,500,000 Project Budget: $10,000,000 Funding language/uses: Legisla ve Bonding Bill: Sculpture Garden Drainage Control For a grant to the Minneapolis Park and Recrea on Board to predesign, design, and construct renova on of the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, which displays art owned by the Walker Art Center, subject to Minnesota Statutes, sec on 16A.695. The complete renova on will include improving irriga on, drainage, the parking lot, security, granite substructures, concrete, and fixtures, in order to update them with more ecologically sustainable op ons that are less expensive to maintain; increasing physical accessibility in accordance with the Americans with Disabili es Act; transplan ng and replacing trees and plant materials; and improving the mechanical plant, piping, and flooring of the Cowles Conservatory to permit its flexible reuse in a way that is more ecologically sustainable and less expensive to maintain. MWMO: The overall project shall u lize sustainable site and building design prac ces. These prac ces include stormwater management and reuse systems, na ve plan ngs, recycled and recyclable materials, and plan ng for energy and stormwater efficiency. MWMO funds for this project will be used for feasibility analysis for stormwater management, and design and construc on of innova ve stormwater prac ces.
