14 Hand Back Requirements In 2062, the Concession will turn back the assets of SH 130 to TxDOT Residual life of pavement defined in the Agreement Major items such as bridges also have residual life requirements Bridges Drainage Culverts How will this be decided?

15 Lessons Learned We re three years into the 50 year O&M portion of the contract Need to look at the O&M more as a separate phase of the life of the project. Having staff (from both sides) transition from the Design/Construction phases into the O&M phases helps bring historical perspective to things. Developing O&M Procedures document during construction phase - defining roles & responsibilities. Including GIS system for accident tracking in the Agreement.

16 Texas O&M Contracts Going Forward Most of the larger TxDOT projects are incorporating some form of Design-Build with an O&M Component This represents over 22 projects State-wide

18 Conclusion TxDOT is committed to utilizing the private sector, in long-term agreements, to operate and maintain portions of the state s network of highways. This is being done to ensure the highest levels of safety and mobility are in place well into the future of State s ever growing roadway network.
