REFERENDUM PROJECT FOR APPROVED ROD GRANTS A Sound Restoration Strategy for our Schools and Students! Safety! Security! Savings It s That Simple.

OUR NEED Ridgefield Public Schools will receive 1.2 million dollars in state grant funding if taxpayers agree to pass a referendum to improve our schools. Several building projects were approved and would require funding for 60 percent of the total cost, which would come to roughly $37.20 per year for fifteen years for the average household. The State would cover 40 percent of the cost. The end results energy efficiency (savings), safety, security, and well-being

PROJECT BENEFITS: WINDOWS! The replacement of 50+ year old single pane windows with new double pane window will result in an 18 percent energy reduction on heat and an average 7.5 percent energy reduction on cooling.! The expected annual cost reduction in heating would be $50,078.! The annual reduction in electric cost for cooling at our schools would be 7.5 percent or $7,063 on total electric costs.! Therefore, the energy annual combined savings expected on window replacement would be $57,064 and over the 15 year Bond the savings would be over $800,000.

PROJECT BENEFITS: HVAC Upgraded environmental controls would:! Help regulate extreme temperature in each room accordingly;! Provide energy savings when rooms not in use;! Link controls to a centralized location; and! Provide remote access to controls.

PROJECT BENEFITS: COOLING SYSTEM UPGRADES AT SLOCUM SKEWES New cooling systems would benefit our children during various activities, including but not limited to lunch, gym, band practice, aftercare, assemblies, PTA meetings, and Saturday Happenings by:! Providing healthier environments for children in two frequently utilized common areas (i.e., Multi-Purpose Room and Gymnasium); and! Providing safer, more comfortable environments for both school and community activities.

PROJECT BENEFITS: ELECTRIC PANEL Upgrades to our electrical systems would:! Provide adequate electrical service to all areas of our schools;! Allow for a more equitable, efficient distribution of power; and! Allow for the utilization of newer technologies in every learning space.

PROJECT BENEFITS: COMMUNICATION AND SECURITY Upgrades and expansions to our existing communication and security systems will:! Provide effective intercom coverage throughout building, including those that currently have no coverage;! Facilitate a new state-of-the-art phone system tied to our intercom systems; and! Install exterior door security upgrades.
