2 WARNINGS Store in original container, in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Store away from food, feeds, fertilizer and other agricultural products. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. May cause moderate eye and mild skin irritation. RE-ENTRY INTERVAL : Do not enter treated area until spray deposit has dried unless wearing protective clothing. Aerial application: Do not apply MILESTONE* 240 SL by aerial application. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal soil, climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water, compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of weeds against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS Do not inhale the spray mist and do not allow spray mist to come into contact with eyes. Irritating to eyes and skin, wear a face shield and protective clothing when handling or mixing the product. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Avoid contact with skin. May cause sensitization by skin contact. Wash contaminated clothing after use. Wash with soap and water after use. Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying the product or before washing hands, face and exposed skin. Avoid drift or spray onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams, any other static or flowing water body, and any areas not under treatment. Clean applicator thoroughly after use and ensure that all traces of MILESTONE* 240 SL are removed. (See Sprayer Cleanup section of this label). Rinse empty container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10 % of that of the container. Add all container rinsings to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. Destroy empty container in a safe manner and do not re-use it for any other purpose. 1

3 RESISTANCE WARNINGS, PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT For resistance management MILESTONE* 240 SL is a member of the pyridine group of herbicides and has the disruption of plant cell growth mode of action. HRAC classification is a Group Code O herbicide. Any weed population may contain individuals naturally resistant to MILESTONE* 240 SL and other Group Code O herbicides. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are used repeatedly. These resistant weeds will not be controlled by MILESTONE* 240 SL or any other Group Code O herbicide. TO DELAY THE SELECTION OF RESISTANT WEEDS Integrate tillage, crop rotation or mechanical control methods (including non-selective herbicides) during the fallow period into weed control programmes whenever practical. Avoid repeated use of herbicides from the same mode of action group. Alternate or tank mix with registered products from different herbicide group codes. Plan crop rotations to allow use of herbicides from different mode of action groups. Maintain herbicide use records for each field for future reference. Prevent movement of resistant weed seeds and vegetative material to other fields by cleaning harvesting and tillage equipment and planting clean seed. When grazing, begin with lands with the least weed resistance before moving to lands with high resistance due to the possibility of animals spreading the seed. Inspect all lands annually to identify the development of resistance early. Always monitor efficacy shortly after herbicide application. For further advice on the prevention of herbicide resistance contact your Dow AgroSciences representative. USE RESTRICTIONS To prevent damage, do not permit drift or spray mist to come into contact with sensitive broadleaf crops, fruit or ornamentals. Apply the product strictly in accordance with the application directions and take the wind speed and wind direction as indicated in the following table into consideration when applications are made. 4 Do not apply MILESTONE* 240 SL to cereals undersown with legumes. MILESTONE* 240 SL is not recommended for use on seed maize, sweetcorn, popcorn and other exotic cultivars. Do not apply MILESTONE* 240 SL to crops that are stressed by severe weather conditions, drought, water-logging, nutrient deficiency, disease, insect damage or carry-over herbicide residues. Applications should be delayed if the crop is under stressed conditions, such as cold weather, heavy rain or when the risk of freezing temperatures is forecast within the next few days. Apply the product strictly in accordance with the application directions. Do not contaminate any water body e.g. dams, rivers, boreholes, etc. MILESTONE* 240 SL should only be applied ONCE per season. AMINOPYRALID RESIDUES IN PLANTS OR MANURE Plant residues, including hay, straw or stover from aminopyralid treated areas, or manure from animals that have grazed forage or eaten hay, straw or stover from treated areas must not be used for composting or mulching where susceptible plants may be grown in the same season and cannot be used in greenhouse or seedling or mushroom production. Manure from animals that have grazed or consumed forage, hay, straw or stover from aminopyralid treated areas, or straw from treated areas used for animal bedding, should not be spread on land used for growing susceptible broadleaf crops in the same season. If straw or stover is not collected from an aminopyralid-treated field ensure that the straw or stover is incorporated evenly into the soil within a short period after harvest in order to promote herbicide decomposition. For rotational crops the waiting period prescribed on this label must be strictly adhered to. When straw derived from aminopyralid-treated plants is used for annual bedding, this bedding straw together with associated animal manure may be used for soil fertilization provided the following restrictions are complied with: - bedding straw/manure has to be incorporated into the soil a minimum of 6 months before planting any legume crop, potatoes, vegetables, sunflowers or other nongraminaceous crops. - The 6 months waiting period must include only active months, where the soil temperature is above +5 C and soil microbial activity is high. - Bedding straw/manure must be incorporated into the soil immediately after spreading. Breakdown of aminopyralid in plant residues or manure is more rapid under warm, moist soil conditions and may be enhanced by supplemental irrigation. Do not use straw/manure derived from aminopyralid treated areas for production of mushrooms. Keep straw or stover from aminopyralid-treated areas on the farms where it was produced. Preferably incorporate the straw or stover into the soil of the field where the 3

5 aminopyralid treatment was done. Do not sell straw or stover from crops treated with aminopyralid except if to be used for industrial purposes such as paper production or burning for energy production. MINIMUM RECROPPING INTERVAL AND CROP ROTATION GUIDELINES Many different crops can be very sensitive to low concentrations of MILESTONE* 240 SL in the soil. Therefore careful consideration should be given to crop rotation plans prior to using MILESTONE* 240 SL. The minimum recropping interval is the time between the last application of MILESTONE* 240 SL and the anticipated date of planting a subsequent crop. In order to promote herbicide decomposition, thereby ensuring an increased safety margin to sensitive rotational crops, instructions in the label section on AMINOPYRALID RESIDUES IN PLANTS OR MANURE should be followed. The following table shows the minimum recropping intervals that should be observed to avoid injury to subsequent crops. These intervals are based on MILESTONE* 240 SL having been applied only ONCE per season at the correct dosage rate, and on average or above-average precipitation occurring during the season and following the season in which the application was made. Under conditions of drought and/or low biological activity in the soil the recropping intervals may need to be extended. A prior field test planting of the envisaged follow-up crop must also have shown no herbicidal symptoms such as poor stand (effect on seed germination), chlorosis (yellowing), necrosis (dead leaves or shoots), or stunting (reduced growth). Consideration should also be given to the re-cropping intervals required for any tankmixture herbicide partner products used together with MILESTONE* 240 SL, adhere to the most restrictive intervals. As detailed in the 3 lists above MILESTONE* 240 SL controls certain broadleaf weed species in tank-mixtures with complimentary products as indicated in barley, maize or wheat. Other annual broadleaf weed species that were not present during the development trials with the products, may possibly also be controlled to a certain degree. The registration holder does not accept any responsibility for weeds not listed. 2. MILESTONE* 240 SL spray applications in tank mixtures will not control weeds which have not yet emerged at the time of spraying. 3. Extreme growing conditions resulting from drought and/or near freezing temperatures and/or other environmental stress may reduce the degree of 6

8 weed control achieved. DIRECTIONS FOR USE : Use only as directed. GENERAL INFORMATION MILESTONE* 240 SL is a soluble concentrate herbicide for use in tank mixtures as listed for selective post-emergence control of certain weeds as listed in the regions and crops as listed. For maximum weed control or suppression apply only listed MILESTONE* 240 SL tank mixtures to young weeds before they are beyond the 4 leaf stage. Weeds should also be actively growing under moist conditions. Weeds under drought stress and/or other environmental stress may be less susceptible. Optimum application temperature is between 8 25 C, but treatments can be done at temperatures as low as 5 C. Aminopyralid, the active ingredient of MILESTONE* 240 SL, has an auxinic mode of action, which is a useful alternative to the ALS mode of action. Aminopyralid is systemically translocated throughout the plant, and accumulates in the meristmatic tissue, resulting in uneven cell division and growth of sensitive plants. Within days of application of aminopyralid mixtures symptoms such as thickened, curved and twisted leaves, cupping and crinkling of leaves, stem cracking, enlarged roots and proliferated growth are caused. Most susceptible annual broadleaf weeds are controlled within 4 to 8 weeks after application. MILESTONE* 240 SL must be applied at the crop stages specified in the Application Tables. To obtain the best results, spray when target weeds are actively growing. Control is influenced by weed size, with smaller stages more easily controlled. Optimum control of broadleaf weeds is up to the 4 leaf stage of the weeds. 7

9 COMPATIBILITY MILESTONE* 240 SL is not applied alone, but always in tank mixtures as listed in the Crop RECOMMENDATION Tables of this label. MILESTONE* 240 SL is compatible with the remedies listed below: HERBICIDES: Atrazine; Broadstrike* 800 WG (L6180); bromoxynil; 2,4-D Amine 480 SL (L3619); Derby* 175 SC (L6781); MCPA 400 SL (L3616); metsulfuron and Suprazine* 600 SC (L4846). INSECTICIDES: MILESTONE* 240 SL is compatible with dimethoate 400 EC (containing 400 g dimethoate / ). TRACE ELEMENTS: MILESTONE* 240 SL is compatible when used separately with one of the trace elements manganese sulphate (MnSO 4 ), zinc sulphate (ZnS04) or copper oxychloride. Under no circumstances should multiple trace elements, or foliar feed formulations containing more than 2 trace elements, be tank mixed with MILESTONE* 240 SL. NOTE: (i) WHERE ANY OF THE ABOVE PRODUCTS ARE USED IN A TANK MIXTURE WITH MILESTONE* 240 SL, FULL DETAILS OF USE RESTRICTIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS FROM THE RESPECTIVE COMPLIMENTARY PRODUCT LABEL/S MUST BE OBTAINED AND ADHERED TO. (ii) Since the formulation of other products may change without the knowledge of Dow AgroSciences and spray water quality may vary from farm to farm a physical compatibility test should always be carried out prior to the making and application of tank mixtures. DO NOT mix MILESTONE* 240 SL with herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers, multicomponent foliar feeds, plant growth regulators or any other chemicals not recommended on this label. DO NOT use additives that lower the spray solution ph below a value of 6.0. Consult your local representative for details. MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Shake all product containers well before opening. Half fill the spray tank with clean water. Commence agitation and first add to the tank through a sieve the tank-mix partner product/s, complimentary to MILESTONE* 240 SL, according to the mixing instructions on those product labels. Where relevant products should be added in the mixing order of formulation type OD; WG; SC; EC; SL. Once the complimentary product/s is/are in the tank, with continued agitation, add additional water and then the required amount of MILESTONE* 240 SL and surfactant. Continue thorough agitation throughout while adding remedies and topping up the tank with water and at all times before and during spraying. 8

10 Prepare only sufficient spray mixture for immediate use. Do not keep the spray mixture for long periods, such as overnight, as the effectiveness may be reduced due to product degradation. GROUND APPLICATION Avoid fine droplet size. Use low pressure flat fan nozzles of 80 or equivalent anti-drift type and do not exceed spray pressure of 200 kpa. Spray volume must exceed 150 litre per hectare. Do not exceed spray height of 50 cm above target and ground speed of 10 km per hour. Do not apply if wind velocity exceeds 15 km per hour (as measured by handheld wind recorder approved by the Registrar: Act 36 of 1947). The difference between the wet and dry bulb readings on a whirling hygrometer must not exceed 8 C. Sprayer equipment must have an efficient agitation mechanism capable of adequate coverage and even distribution. Do not use air driven sprayers. Ensure that all information under DIRECTIONS FOR USE is adhered to. For post-emergence broadleaf weed control. Add a suitable registered adjuvant to all MILESTONE* 240 SL tank-mixtures at label recommended rates, excepting that for any tank mixture with BROMOXYNIL DO NOT add any adjuvant. Apply as a broadcast over-the-top application to maize once the crop has reached the 4-leaf stage up to the 6 leaf stage (40 cm tall). 10

12 CROP DOSAGE RATE / HA REMARKS MAIZE (cont.) 20 m MILESTONE* 240 SL PLUS (25 g BROADSTRIKE* 840 WG m 2,4-D AMINE 480 SL) When the maize crop exceeds the 6- leaf stage or 40 cm in height, use a directed spray with drop arms, to ensure improved spray coverage of the weeds and to avoid spray solution being deposited in the leaf funnels of maize plants. Apply MILESTONE* 240 SL mixtures under warm and favourable growing conditions. Do not apply under cold and/or abnormally wet conditions as the crop may possibly be affected detrimentally. For optimum weed control apply MILESTONE* 240 SL mixtures to actively growing broadleaf weeds that are not larger that the 4 leaf stage and not larger than 100 mm in height. MILESTONE* 240 SL tank mixtures will not control annual grasses and Cyperus esculentus and should therefore be preceded, where required, by a postplant pre-emergence application of a grass herbicide, such as WENNER 700 S EC (L3895), to provide control of annual grasses and variable control of Cyperus esculentus. See NOTES 1 to 3 below the lists of weeds controlled. 11

13 SPRAYER CLEANUP To prevent any damage to subsequent crops to be sprayed, other than those listed on this label, all traces of MILESTONE* 240 SL must be removed by thorough cleaning from the mixing and spraying equipment. Proceed as follows : a) The spray tank should be drained immediately after spraying crops. Wash any contamination off the outside of the sprayer with clean water. b) The inside of the spray tank should be rinsed with clean water and flushed with at least one tenth of the spray tank volume through the hoses and nozzles. Drain the tank completely. c) Half-fill the tank with clean water and add the correct quantity of cleaning agent. Per 100 litres of final tank volume, add 350 ml household ammonia (9,5 % ammonia) to the water, eg. in the case of a litres spray tank, fill with 500 litres water and add 3,5 litres (=10 x 0,35 ) household ammonia. The initial solution now prepared which is double strength, should be mixed thoroughly by turning on the agitation. This solution is now used for flushing the hoses and nozzles for approximately 1 minute. The remainder is now filled up to the final volume of the spray tank and allowed to stand for 15 minutes with the agitation running. After this 15 minute interval, flush the boom and hoses again and drain the tank completely. d) Remove the nozzle and filters and allow to soak in a bucket containing 40 ml of household ammonia per 10 litres of water. e) Rinse the tank again with water and flush at least one tenth of the tank volume through the boom and hoses. f) Dispose of the wash water safely, away from water supplies. Do not spray onto or otherwise dispose of onto sensitive crops or land intended for planting with sensitive crops. Precautions with spray cleanup - Do not inhale the vapour of the cleaning agents. - Avoid contact with eyes and skin. - In case of contact with eyes and skin rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. - Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. - Keep cleaning agents only in original containers. 12

14 STORAGE AND DISPOSAL Storage conditions Store away from sun and damp, in original tightly closed containers, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area apart from food and feed under lock and key. Product and container disposal Do not re-use empty containers for any other purpose at all. Dispose of surplus product and empty containers in an industrial incinerator approved for pesticides. Do not bury in or spray onto any area under agricultural use. Empty containers well, rinse several times with water and pour rinse solution in the spray tank. 24 HOUR EMERGENCY TEL. NO. Alhoewel hierdie middel omvattend onder 'n groot verskeidenheid toestande getoets is waarborg die registrasiehouer nie dat dit onder alle toestande doeltreffend sal wees nie aangesien die werking en effek daarvan beïnvloed kan word deur faktore soos abnormale grond-, klimaats- en bergingstoestande; kwaliteit van verdunningswater, verenigbaarheid met ander stowwe wat nie op die etiket aangedui is nie en die voorkoms van weerstand van onkruide teen die betrokke middel sowel as die metode, tyd en akkuraatheid van toediening. Verder aanvaar die registrasiehouer nie verantwoordelikheid vir skade aan gewasse, plantegroei, die omgewing of vir nadelige effek op mens of dier of vir 'n gebrek aan prestasie van die betrokke middel as gevolg van die versuim van die gebruiker om etiketaanwysings na te kom of as gevolg van die ontstaan van toestande wat nie kragtens die registrasie voorsien kon word nie. Raadpleeg die verskaffer in die geval van enige onsekerheid. VOORSORGMAATREËLS Moet nie die spuitnewel inasem nie, en sorg dat spuitnewel nie in kontak met oë kom nie. Mag oog- en velirritasie veroorsaak, dra n gesigskerm en beskermende klere wanneer die produk gehanteer of vermeng word. In geval van kontak met oë, spoel oë onmiddellik uit met heelwat water en verkry mediese hulp. Vermy kontak met die vel. Mag sensitisering veroorsaak indien in aanraking kom met vel. Was besoedelde klere na gebruik. Was met seep en water na gebruik. Moet nie eet, drink of rook tydens vermenging of toediening van die produk of voordat die hande, gesig en besmette vel gewas is nie. Vermy spuitnewel op ander gewasse, weiveld, riviere, damme, enige ander statiese of vloeiende waterelement en enige plekke wat nie behandel word nie. Maak toedieningsapparaat skoon na gebruik en maak seker dat alle tekens van MILESTONE* 240 SL verwyder is. (Lees Skoonmaak van spuit gedeelte van hierdie etiket.) 14

16 Spoel leë houer drie keer uit met 'n volume water gelykstaande aan 'n minimum van 10 % van die houer. Gooi alle spoelwaters van die houer by die inhoud van die spuittenk voordat die houer op die voorgeskrewe wyse vernietig word. Voorkom die besoedeling van voedsel, voer, drinkwater en eetgerei. Vernietig leë houers op n veilige manier en moet nie vir enige ander doel hergebruik nie. WEERSTANDSWAARSKUWINGS, -VOORKOMING EN -BESTUUR Vir weestandbestuur is MILESTONE* 240 SL deel van die piridien groep van onkruiddoders wat die versteuring van plantselgroei metode van werking het. HRAC klassifikasie is n Groepkode O onkruiddoder. Enige onkruid populasie mag sommige individue bevat wat natuurlik weerstandbiedend is teen MILESTONE* 240 SL, asook ander Groepkode O onkruiddoders. Indien onkruiddoders met dieselfde werkingswyse herhaaldelik gebruik word kan hierdie weerstandbiedende individue uiteindelik die onkruidpopulasie domineer. Hierdie weerstandbiedende onkruide sal nie deur MILESTONE* 240 SL of enige ander Groepkode O onkruiddoder beheer word nie. BESTUURSAKSIES OM SELEKSIE VAN WEERSTANDBIEDENDE ONKRUIDE TE VERMINDER Implementeer bewerkingspraktyke, wisselboustelsels of ander meganiese beheerstelsels (insluitende die gebruik van nie-selektiewe onkruiddoders) waar prakties moontlik. Vermy die herhaalde gebruik van onkruiddoders met dieselfde metode van werking. Wissel af met of maak tenkmengesels met geregistreerde produkte van verskillende onkruiddoder groepkodes. Beplan gewasrotasie sodat onkruiddoders met verskillende metodes van werking gebruik word. Hou rekord van onkruiddodergebruik van elke land vir toekomstige gebruik. Voorkom die verspreiding van weerstandbiedende saad asook vegetatiewe materiaal na ander lande deur gereelde skoonmaak van stropers en ploeë en plant van onkruidvrye saad. Met beweiding, begin by lande met die minste onkruidweerstand voor beweging na lande met hoë weerstand om verspreiding van saad deur diere te verhoed. Ondersoek alle lande jaarliks om moontlike weerstand vroegtydig uit te ken. Monitor altyd effektiwiteit verkry kort na onkruiddodertoediening. 17 GEBRUIKSBEPERKINGS Om skade te voorkom moet verhoed word dat dampe of spuitnewel in aanraking kom met of wegdryf na sensitiewe breëblaargewasse, vrugtebome of sierplante. Dien die produk streng volgens die gebruiksaanwysings toe en neem die windspoed en windrigting soos aangedui in die volgende tabel in ag wanneer toedienings gemaak word. Dien die produk streng volgens die gebruiksaanwysings toe. Moet nie enige waterbronne besoedel nie bv. damme, riviere, boorgate,ens. MILESTONE* 240 SL moet slegs EEN maal per seisoen toegedien word. AMINOPIRALIED RESIDUE IN PLANTE OF MIS Plant residue, insluitend hooi, strooi of plantreste vanaf aminopiralied behandelde gebiede, of mis vanaf diere wat voer bewei het of hooi, strooi of plantreste vanaf behandelde gebiede gevreet het, moet nie vir kompos of deklaag, waar sensitiewe plante in dieselfde seisoen moontlik gekweek gaan word, gebruik word nie en moet ook nie in glashuis-, saailing- of sampioenproduksie gebruik word nie. 16

18 Mis vanaf diere wat voer, hooi, strooi of plantreste vanaf aminopiralied behandelde gebiede bewei of verbruik het, of strooi vanaf behandelde gebiede wat vir dierekooigoed gebruik is, moet nie op lande waarop gevoelige breëblaargewasse in dieselfde seisoen gewkeek gaan word, uitgestrooi word nie. Indien strooi of plantreste nie vanaf n aminopiralied behandelde land bymekaar gemaak word nie, verseker dat die strooi of plantreste binne n kort tydperk na oes eweredig in die grond geïnkorporeer word om sodoende onkruiddoderontbinding te bevorder. Vir opvolggewasse moet die wagperiode, soos op hierdie etiket aangedui, streng nagekom word. Wanneer strooi afkomstig vanaf aminopiralied behandelde plante vir dierekooigoed gebruik word, mag hierdie strooikooigoed tesame met verbonde dieremis vir grondbemesting gebruik word indien die volgende beperkings nagekom word: - Strooikooigoed/dieremis moet in die grond geïnkorporeer word n minimum van 6 maande voordat enige peulgewas, aartappels, groentes, sonneblom of ander niegrasgewasse aangeplant word. - Die 6 maande wagperiode moet net aktiewe maande insluit, waar die grondtemperatuur bokant +5 C is en mikrobeaktiwiteit in die grond hoog is. - Strooikooigoed/dieremis moet dadelik na uitstrooi daarvan in die grond geïnkorporeer word. Afbraak van aminopiralied in plant residue of dieremis geskied vinniger onder warm, vogtige grondtoestande en mag deur aanvullende besproeiing bevorder word. Moet nie strooi/dieremis afkomstig vanaf aminopiralied behandelde lande vir sampioenproduksie gebruik nie. Hou strooi of plantreste afkomstig vanaf aminopiralied behandelde lande op die plase waar dit geproduseer was. Die strooi of plantreste moet verkieslik in die grond van die land, waar die aminopiralied behandeling gedoen was, geïnkorporeer word. Strooi of plantreste afkomstig vanaf gewasse wat met aminopiralied behandel was, moet nie verkoop word nie behalwe as dit vir industriële doeleindes soos papierproduksie of brand vir energieproduksie gebruik gaan word nie. 17

19 MINIMUM WAGPERIODES EN WISSELBOU-AANWYSINGS Verskeie gewasse kan baie sensitief wees teenoor lae konsentrasies MILESTONE* 240 SL in die grond. Deeglike oorweging moet dus gegee word aan wisselboubeplanning alvorens MILESTONE* 240 SL gebruik word. Die minimum wagperiode is die tyd tussen die laaste toediening van MILESTONE* 240 SL en die verwagte tyd van aanplanting van n opvolggewas. Om onkruiddoderafbraak te bevorder, met daaropvolgende versekering van n verhoogde veiligheidsmarge vir sensitiewe opvolggewasse, moet instruksies in die etiket afdeling oor AMINOPIRALIED RESIDUE IN PLANTE OF MIS nagekom word. Die volgende tabel dui aan die minimum wagperiodes wat nagekom moet word om skade aan opvolggewasse te vermy. Hierdie wagperiodes word gebaseer op n EENMALIGE toediening van MILESTONE* 240 SL per seisoen, teen die korrekte dosis, en op die ontvangs van gemiddelde of bo-gemiddelde reënval gedurende die seisoen, en ook in die opvolgseisoen. Onder toestande van droogte en/of lae biologiese aktiwiteit in die grond mag dit nodig word om die wagperiodes te verleng. 22 NOTAS OOR ONKRUIDE BEHEER: 1. Soos gelys in die 3 lyste hierbo, beheer MILESTONE* 240 SL sekere breëblaaronkruide in tenkmengsels soos aangedui in gars, koring of mielies. Ander eenjarige breëblaaronkruide wat nie tydens die ontwikkelingsproewe met die middels voorgekom het nie, kan ook moontlik in meerdere of mindere mate beheer word. Die registrasiehouer aanvaar egter geen aanspreeeklikheid ten opsigte van ongelyste onkruide nie. 2. MILESTONE* 240 SL bespuitings in tenkmengsels sal nie onkruide beheer wat nog nie ten tye van die bespuiting opgekom het nie. 3. Uiterste groeitoestande as gevolg van droogte en/of temperature naby vriespunt en/of ander omgewingstres mag die mate van onkruidbeheer verkry verminder. GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS : Gebruik slegs soos aangedui ALGEMENE INLIGTING MILESTONE* 240 SL is 'n oplosbare konsentraat onkruiddoder vir gebruik in tenkmengsels soos gelys vir die selektiewe na-opkom beheer van sekere breëblaaronkruide, soos gelys, in die gebiede en gewasse soos gelys. Onkruide moet aktief onder vogtige toestande groei. Onkruide wat onder droogtestremming en/of ander omgewingstremming verkeer mag minder gevoelig wees. Optimale toedieningstemperatuur is tussen 8 25 C, toedienings kan egter teen temperature so laag as 5 C geskied. Aminopiralied, die aktiewe bestanddeel van MILESTONE* 240 SL, het n ouksieniese metode van werking, wat n nuttige alternatief tot die ALS metode van werking is. Aminopiralied word deurgaans deur die plant sistemies getranslokeer en akkumuleer in die meristematiese weefsel, met daaropvolgende oneweredige seldeling en groei van gevoelige plante. Binne dae na toediening van aminopiraliedmengsels word simptome soos verdikte, krom en verdraaide blare, gebarste stingels, vergrote wortels en onbeheersde groei veroorsaak. Die meeste gevoelige eenjarige breëblaaronkruide word binne 4 tot 8 weke na toediening beheer. MILESTONE* 240 SL moet op gewasstadiums soos in die Toedieningstabelle gespesifiseer, toegedien word. Om die beste resultate te verkry, spuit tydens aktiewe groei van die teiken onkruide. 23 VERENIGBAARHEID MILESTONE* 240 SL word nooit alleen toegedien nie, maar altyd in tenkmengsels soos in die TOEDIENINGSAANBEVELINGS Tabelle van hierdie etiket gelys. MILESTONE* 240 SL is verenigbaar met die middels soos hieronder gelys: ONKRUIDDODERS: Atrazine; Broadstrike* 800 WG (L6180); bromoxynil; 2,4-D Amine 480 SL (L3619); Derby* 175 SC (L6781); MCPA 400 SL (L3616); metsulfuron en Suprazine* 600 SC (L4846). INSEKDODERS: MILESTONE* 240 SL is mengbaar met dimetoaat 400 EC (bevat 400 g dimetoaat/ ). SPOORELEMENTE: MILESTONE* 240 SL is mengbaar wanneer afsonderlik met een van die spoorelemente mangaansulfaat (MnSO 4 ), sink sulfaat (ZnSO 4 ) en koperoksichloried gebruik word. MENGINSTRUKSIES Skud alle produkhouers goed voor oopmaak daarvan. Vul die spuittenk tot halfvol met skoon water. Begin die roering en voeg deur n sif die tenkmengselmedeproduk/te, komplimentêr tot MILESTONE* 240 SL, tot die tenk by, volgens die menginstruksies op daardie produketikette. Waar relevant moet produkte in die mengorde van formulasiesoort OD; WG; SC; EC; SL bygevoeg word. 24 Berei net voldoende spuitmengsel vir onmiddellike gebruik voor. Moet nie die spuitmengsel vir lang periodes, soos oornag, hou nie want die effektiwiteit daarvan mag deur produkafbraak verminder word. GRONDTOEDIENING Vermy fyn druppelgroottes. Gebruik laedruk platwaaierspuitpunte van 80 of ekwivalente antiwegdrywing tipe. Die spuitdruk moet nie 200 kpa oorskry nie. Die spuitvolume moet 150 liter per hektaar oorskry. n Spuithoogte van 50 cm bokant die teiken en n grondspoed van 10 km per uur moet nie oorskry word nie. Indien die windspoed hoër is as 15 km per uur (soos bepaal met n handwindmeter goedgekeur deur die Registrateur Wet 36 van 1947) moet die produk nie toegedien word nie. Moet nie onder koue en/of abnormale nat toestande toedien nie, aangesien die gewas onder sulke toestande moontlik benadeel kan word. Vir optimale onkruidbeheer moet MILESTONE* 240 SL mengsels op aktiefgroeiende breëblaaronkruide nie groter as die 4-blaarstadium en nie groter as 100 mm hoogte, toegedien word nie. 25

27 GEWAS DOSIS / HA AANMERKINGS MIELIES (verv.) MILESTONE* 240 SL tenkmengsels sal nie beheer van eenjarige grasse en Cyperus esculentus verskaf nie en moet derhalwe, waar benodig, met n na-plant voor-opkoms toediening van n grasonkruiddoder, soos WENNER 700 S EC (L3895) voorafgegaan word, om beheer van eenjarige grasse en wisselvallige beheer van Cyperus esculentus te verkry. Sien NOTAS 1 tot 3 onder die lyste van onkruide wat beheer word. SKOONMAAK VAN SPUIT Om daaropvolgende skade aan gewasse, anders as die op hierdie etiket gelys, te vermy, moet alle spore van MILESTONE* 240 SL direk na toediening, deeglik vanuit die meng- en spuittoerusting verwyder word. Gaan soos volg te werk : a) Dreineer die spuitsisteem onmiddellik na bespuiting van gewas. Was enige kontaminasie van die buitekant van die tenk af met skoon water. b) Spoel die binneoppervlak van die tenk met skoon water. Spuit ten minste een tiende van die tenk se kapasiteit deur die pype en spuitpunte. Dreineer die tenk deeglik. c) Maak die tenk half vol met skoon water en voeg die korrekte hoeveelheid skoonmaakmiddel by. Vir elke 100 liter van die finale tenk volume, voeg 350 ml huishoudelike ammoniak (9.5 % ammoniak), in die water. (bv. in die geval van 'n liter spuittenk, vul dit met 500 liter water en voeg 3,5 liter (=10 x 0,35 ) huishoudelike ammoniak by). Die oorspronklike mengsel wat nou dubbel sterkte is, moet deeglik geroer word en deur die pype en spuitpunte vir ongeveer 1 minuut gespuit word. Voeg dan water by die oorblywende mengsel tot die tenk vol is. Laat hierdie mengsel 15 minute in die tenk staan terwyl roering plaasvind. Na hierdie 15 minuut periode, spuit weer deur die pype en spuitpunte. Dreineer die tenk deeglik. 26

28 d) Verwyder spuitpunte en siwwe en plaas in 'n emmer wat 40 m huishoudelike ammoniak per 10 liter water bevat. e) Spoel die tenk weer deeglik uit met skoon water. Spuit ten minste een tiende van die tenk se kapasiteit deur die pype en spuitpunte. f) Spuit alle spoelwater veilig weg. Moet nie op sensitiewe gewasse, of op lande bedoel vir die plant van sensitiewe gewasse, spuit nie. Voorsorgmaatreëls met skoonmaak van spuit - Moet nie die dampe van die skoonmaakmiddel inasem nie. - Vermy kontak met oë en vel. - In geval van kontak, spoel onmiddellik oë uit en vel af met genoegsame water en verkry mediese raad. - Hou buite bereik van kinders, oningeligte persone en diere. - Hou skoonmaak middels slegs in hulle oorspronklike houers. BERGING EN VERNIETIGING Bergingstoestande Berg weg van sonlig en vogtigheid, in oorsponklike houers wat dig toegemaak is, in 'n koel, droë, goed geventileerde gebied, weg van kos en voer agter slot en grendel. Produk -en houervernietiging Moet nie die houers vir enige ander doel gebruik nie. Vernietiging van oortollige produk en leë houers moet geskied deur 'n industriële verbrandingsoond wat vir chemikaliee goedgekeur is. Moet dit nie begrawe of spuit op enige gebied wat onder landboukundige gebruik is nie. Leë houers moet herhaaldelik met skoonwater uitgespoel word.
