5 General Show Rules 1. The exhibitor must have grown all entries on his/her cultivated land and is a member of Ward End Gardeners Association. Note: Exhibitors under 16 years can enter Senior Classes, but may be asked for proof of cultivation. 2. Vases and dishes can be provided by the exhibitor. 3. All exhibits, personal property etc, will be at the risk of the exhibitor and the committee will not be liable for the loss or damage due to any cause whatever. 4. The decision of the judges will be final. They have the right to award additional prizes or with hold prizes in the event of insufficient entries in a given class. 5. Any complaints as to awards or exhibits must be made to the show secretary no later that one hour after opening of show. 6. Staging will be between times stated in the specific show notes. 7. Prize money will be distributed on the day of the shows. 8. All entries must be with the show secretary one hour before judging commences, see specific show notes. 9. Exhibitors cards will be obtained from the show secretary on the morning of show. 10. Exhibitors will be responsible for placing of these cards and the correctness of the particulars given on them. 11. Exhibits which do not conform to the schedule will be marked N.A.S. (not as schedule) and disqualified. 12. Only those persons officially appointed shall be present during the judging of exhibits. 13. No Exhibits are to be moved after staging except by a show committee member. 14. Exhibits that are not being offered to the association for sale are not to be moved until close off show. (see specific show notes) 15. Each Exhibitor is allowed two entries per class. 16. In case of any exhibitors scoring the same number of accumulative points, the winner will be decided by the highest number of firsts. 17. All Cups and Trophies (not medals) are for annual competitions and must be returned to the show secretary 10 days before the Annual show in a clean and polished condition. 5

17 Class 30 - Ward End Gardeners Top Vase Notes Ward End Gardeners Top Vase : class 30 For Mixed flowers. Requires between 5 and 10 stems. Taken from a minimum of two different kinds of plants. Please Note: It States two different kinds of PLANTS, not two varieties of the same flower. Display will be judged out of 35 points. 25 points will be awarded for colour, form, condition, quality and freshness of the flowers on display. 10 points will be awarded for overall presentation and effect. The Vase Will Be Viewed From All Directions. Judging will be to Royal Horticultural Society rules. Plants that are used in the display must be showing flowers only. Seed heads or berries are NOT PERMITTED. The Vase can be any shape, size and made for any material but must be in proportion to the display. No points awarded for the vase itself. No Accessories are permitted, e.g. ribbons, bows ect. No additional foliage is allowed, Natural foliage from the flower stem will be permitted. Packing material including florist foam to keep stems in place is allowed. A vase, by definition, is any vessel that can be used to hold cut flowers. It must be taller than it is wide, at its widest point. The Ward End Gardeners Top Vase competition is open to anyone and is not intended only for regular exhibitors in species classes at shows. Judges should use their discretion when judging the Top Vase class, as entries may not come from regular exhibitor. Judges should note that the display has to be viewed all round. Points awarded should be clearly marked, by the judges, on the exhibitors card. Any queries that may arise regarding anything other than the above rules, should be referred and decided by the show officials. Failure to abide by any of these rules will lead to disqualification. 17

18 Class 31 - Master Gardeners Completion Notes The display of flowers and vegetable will marked out of 130 points. Each type of vegetable will judged out of a total of twenty points. 7 points for size, shape and colour. 7 points for conditions. 6 points for uniformity. Each Vase of Flowers will judged out of a total of twenty points. 20 colour, form, condition, quality and freshness of the flowers on display Staging will judged out of a total of ten points. 10 overall presentation and effect. Vegetables and Flowers must be displayed within allocated area measuring 24inches x 24inches/600mm x 600mm. Black cloth or Tray painted black Accessories e.g. plates, sand, rings and Parsley for garnishing are PERMITTED. Vases for Flowers are supplied by the show officials Master Gardeners competition is open to anyone and is not intended only for regular exhibitors in species classes at shows. Judges should note that the display has to be viewed all round. Points awarded should be clearly marked, by the judges, on the exhibitors card.
