2 GENERAL EXHIBITION RULES 1. Entrants must be made on the official form and be received by date and person specified. 2. A competitor may enter any number of exhibits in any class, unless stated otherwise. 3. Any prize may be withheld or modified if the exhibits are considered undeserving of the prize offered. 4. The committee reserve the right to refuse entry and, in the event of such refusal, is not compelled to give any reason. 5. The decision of the judges will be final unless an objection be properly lodged and sustained. Any objection must be delivered in writing to the Show Secretary by 3.00pm on the day of judging. Any objection must be accompanied by a deposit of 5.00, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld, but not otherwise. 6. The Council shall not be held responsible for any accident, damage or loss, however caused, that may occur to the Show or whilst entering or leaving or being carried into or out of the Show. Each exhibitor shall be responsible for any loss, injury or damage done or occasioned by article or property exhibited on or brought by them to the Show and shall indemnify the Council from and against all actions and claims whatsoever in respect of any such loss, injury or damage. (The word Council relates to Hartlepool Borough Council). 7. Exhibitors are not allowed in the main hall while judging except in an official capacity. 8. Cash prizes will be paid during the day of the Show on application to the Show Secretary. Exhibitor s prize money cards must be produced when claiming. Any claim for prize money after the show must be made in writing to Lesley Strickland, Show Co-ordinator, Sir William Gray House, Clarence Road, Hartlepool, TS24 8BT, accompanied by the prize money card on Monday 20 th August 2012 after which date no prize money will be paid. 9. The responsibility for engraving trophies and the cost incurred lies with the exhibitor and not Hartlepool Borough Council. 2

3 HOW TO GET THERE Hartlepool Borough Hall is conveniently located three miles from Hartlepool Town Centre in the historic Headland area, providing fine views of the North East coast and the port of Hartlepool. From the North: A19 South Exit A19 at A179 turn off Signposted HARTLEPOOL Continue towards Hartlepool Town Centre until signpost appears for HEADLAND Follow signs for Headland Hartlepool Borough Hall is located in Middlegate From the South: A1(M)/A1 North Exit A1 at A168 turn off Signposted THIRSK/TEESSIDE Follow A168 towards Teesside This road joins up with and becomes A19 Teesside Exist A19 and A689 turn off Signposted BISHOP AUCKLAND/HARTLEPOOL Follow A689 towards Hartlepool Once in Hartlepool follow local sign for Headland Hartlepool Borough Hall is located in Middlegate 3

5 The Hartlepool Horticultural Show also incorporates THE NATIONAL GLADIOLUS SOCIETY NORTHERN EXHIBITION 2012 RULES: 1. Open to all members of the public. 2. All exhibits in the competitive classes must be the property of the exhibitor, and where applicable, they must have been grown on land of his/her own occupation, except where otherwise stated in this schedule. 3. Exhibitors must fill in the entry form stating in which classes they intend to exhibit, with the correct entry fee. 4. Staging all competitors must supply their own dishes and vases. No artificial flowers or foliage to be used in exhibits. 5. Exhibit cards will be available at the Borough Hall; 3.00pm to 9.00pm on Friday 17 th August, 6.00am to 9.00am on Saturday 18 th August Exhibitors may stage their exhibits 3.00pm to 9.00pm on Friday 17 th August 2012 (please note the hall closes at 9.00pm) and 6.00am to 9.00am on Saturday 18 th August All exhibits must be staged by 9.30am on Saturday 18 th August Name varieties wherever possible. 8. After judging has taken place, no exhibit or part of an exhibit may be altered or removed except by special permission of the Show Secretary. 9. Exhibitors may lift vases, etc at 5.00pm on Saturday 18 th August Judging will commence at 9.45am on Saturday 18 th August Presentation of trophies will commence 4.30pm on Saturday 18 th August

All gardens and models will be entered into the Children s Class of this year s Hartlepool Horiticultural Show, winners will receive a free family pass to Hartlepool s Maritime Experience.
