14 RULES 1. In all classes, entries will be accepted between 7.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. on Friday, before the Show (may be placed on show bench by a member of the Committee) and between 9.00 a.m. and a.m. on the day of the Show at the show venue. The Society will not be liable for loss of/or damage to exhibits whether in competitive classes or non-competitive displays, and other property of exhibitors from any cause at all. 2. Staging to be completed by a.m. PROMPT on the day of the Show. Judging begins at noon. 3. Whilst judging is in progress, exhibitors and other persons not involved in judging must vacate the hall or, if they wish to stay, they must remain in a position remote from the vicinity of judging at all times until it has been completed. 4. Entry fees All classes 10p per entry ( 1 allows unlimited entries). Children: free entry in all classes. 5. Varieties must be named, where possible, in flower and vegetable classes. 6. Judging to be in accordance with RHS, NAFAS, NDS, NCS and NVS rules (current editions) where appropriate. 7. Novice Anyone who has never won six first prizes at any show in the classes in which exhibits are being staged. 8. Trophies are the property of the Society. They must be returned, cleaned, to the Society by 31 July in the year following that in which they were won. 9. Vases will be provided by the Society if required. (Exhibitors vases may be used.) 10. Bowls to be provided by the exhibitor. 11. All entries to be grown in the exhibitor s own garden or allotment, except in Flower Arrangement, Children s and Handicraft, Cookery and Preserves Sections. The Society reserves the right to inspect an exhibitor s garden or allotment. 12. Exhibitors may stage any number of exhibits in any class for which they qualify. However, the Society reserves the right to restrict the number of entries in any class where space is limited. 13. Exhibits must not be moved before the close of the Show. 14. Judges decisions in all cases is final. Objections, other than on merit, may be lodged with the Committee on payment of 1 deposit, to be forfeited if not upheld. 15. Failure to comply with instructions in the Schedule means disqualification. 16. In the event of a tie where awards are made for most 1st prizes, if necessary, 2nds and 3rds to count. 14 HGGS Show Schedule 2018
15 17. For the Joe Cleary Award, points shall be awarded in all dahlias sections (classes 1 to 14) as follows: Classes 1 to 11 1st (3), 2nd (2), & 3rd (1). Classes 12 to 14 1st (6), 2nd (4), & 3rd (2). 18. For the award of the Bill Stubbs Trophy, points shall be awarded in chrysanthemum classes as follows: Classes 26 & 27 1st (6), 2nd (4), & 3rd (2). Other classes 1st (3), 2nd (2) & 3rd (1). 19. For the award of the Jack Hinds Memorial Award, points shall be awarded in classes 95 to 119 as follows: 1st (3), 2nd (2) & 3rd (1). 20. In Classes 89 to 93, jars must be filled to the top, the jar and lid must be clean, and labelling should be neat and include the date when the contents were made. 21. Entry in the Show implies acceptance of rules. 22. Awards may be withheld at Judges discretion. 23. Prize money can be collected from the Treasurer between 4.00 p.m. and 4.45 p.m. on the day of the Show. EXHIBITORS ARE REQUESTED TO REMOVE EXHIBITS PROMPTLY AT CLOSE OF THE SHOW TO ASSIST THE SHOW ORGANIZERS IN CLEARING THE HALL. SUGGESTIONS If you have any constructive suggestions to improve the Show, please contact the Show Secretary. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP The fee for Ordinary Membership is 2, and Patron Membership is 5 minimum.
