SUMMER SHOW SATURDAY, JULY 9 TH 2016 AT 2.30 P.M. & AUTUMN SHOW SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 TH 2016 AT 2.30 P.M. MARWICK HALL, PUTTENHAM WEBSITE: RULES FOR EXHIBITORS 1. All Flowers, Fruit and Vegetables shown must have been grown by the Exhibitor in his/her own garden or allotment at least three months preceding the Show, unless otherwise stated in the Schedule. 2. In order to be satisfied that the conditions governing competitive exhibits are fulfilled, the Committee reserve the right to inspect gardens or allotments from which produce has been entered for competition. 3. Competent outside Judges will be appointed whose decisions will be final. They will have power to give extra prizes or, if the exhibits are not deemed worthy, to withhold or reduce the prizes offered. 4. No Exhibitor shall enter more than one exhibit in the same class. 5. The printed forms in the Schedule or must be filled in by the Exhibitor and returned not later than 31 st March 2016, 6 th July 2016 and 7 th September 2016, with the appropriate fees. Entrance fees are 10p for each Class up to 10 Classes, or 1, to cover all Classes in a show. 6. All exhibits must be at the hall as follows: Spring Show: Summer Show: Autumn Show: 8 a.m. and completed by a.m. 8 a.m. and completed by a.m. 8 a.m. and completed by a.m. At the completion time the public will be excluded and judging will start. 7. The Cups will be presented after 3.15 p.m. at both Summer and Autumn Shows. Thereafter all exhibits should be removed. NO EXHIBITS OR PRIZE CARDS MAY BE REMOVED BEFORE THE PRESENTATION OF THE CUPS. 8. A sale of exhibits in aid of Club Funds may be held after the prize giving. PLEASE NAME HORTICULTURAL EXHIBITS WHERE POSSIBLE - for the information of fellow horticulturalists. -1-

2 Continued from Page 2 : HINTS TO EXHIBITORS 9. Vases and cardboard plates will be provided. The Committee will not be responsible for any personal property. 10. Class entry cards will be available to Exhibitors at the Secretary's table on the day of the Show and must be placed face downwards by the Exhibitor against each exhibit. 11. Notice of protest to any Exhibitor or exhibit must be made in writing to the Show Secretary within two hours of the opening of the Show. The sum of 25p must be deposited, which will be returned if the protest is upheld, and the decision of the Committee shall be final. 12. All exhibits in the Floral Arrangements and Home Crafts Classes must be the unaided work of the Exhibitor. 13. All exhibits in the Floral Arrangement Section except miniatures, 'pot et fleur' and petites, must be staged at the Hall unless specified otherwise. 14. Whereas adult exhibitors must be members, there is open entry for children under 14 years. HINTS TO EXHIBITORS 1. Keep closely to the Schedule. The Judges are allowed no latitude. 2. Remember that freshness and uniformity are more important than size. 3. The naming of exhibits is an advantage. 4. ALL POT/CONTAINER PLANTS to have been grown by the exhibitor or to have been in his/her possession for at least 6 months. 5. For your further guidance you are strongly advised to obtain a copy of the following publications: The Horticultural Show Handbook - published by the R. H.S. Schedule Definitions - published by the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies of Great Britain. 6. For preserves use: - A clear jar with no trademark or commercial pattern including the lid; Fill to the brim and use a wax circle and cellophane OR a twist top with no wax circle for jam, jellies and marmalades; - Curd should be covered with a wax circle and cellophane only; - Labels should state contents; date made (month and year); 7. Do not hesitate to consult the Secretary or any of the Committee if you have any queries or problems. 8. Only where quantities are not specified in the entry class: -for vegetable collections, the number required is shown below (maximum points shown in brackets) UNLESS there is a single class in the SAME Show where that number may be used. N.B. The potential points will be reduced pro-rata if this number is less than the list below. If unlisted below, use not less than half RHS Handbook quantities, for a collection. -in 'any other vegetable/fruit' classes, if there is an individual class in a different P.W.G.C. Show that number should be used, if it is lower than half RHS quantities. If there is no individual class then use quantities listed below, if unlisted use not less than half RHS Handbook quantities, for a single dish or fruit collection as appropriate. IFICATION OF DAFFODILS/NARCISSI Daffodils - For the purposes of the Show daffodils refers to trumpet daffodils. In fact all daffodils are narcissi botanically. Trumpet - One flower to a stem, trumpet (cup or corona) as long or Daffodils longer than the perianth segments e.g. Division 1. Narcissi - Class 10 One flower to a stem, unless otherwise specified, cup ( or trumpet) less than the length of the perianth segments e.g. Division 2,3,9. - White perianth but trumpet (cup) may be coloured. -5-
