6 The Town of Dundas Nestled in a valley below the Niagara Escarpment Dundas is a terrific bedroom community, nicknamed the Valley Town. Like Ancaster, Dundas offers a mix of newer housing development and older more mature areas including Downtown Dundas. Downtown Dundas has that old town feel and is a very walkable with quiet tree-lined streets, historic 19th century buildings, arts, culture and recreation and over 100 shops, restaurants and services in the heart of picturesque Dundas Valley, making it one of the best places to settle down in! Take a stroll through Dundas and experience the unique charm and ambiance of a small historic town, from our old buildings and quaint restaurants, to a host of specialty shops and food emporiums. Downtown clothiers offer a diverse collection of fashions for the whole family, from children to casual and sporting, and classic day to evening and wedding attire. There is an abundance of activities to do in Dundas, like visiting the many waterfalls within its region. The two most commonly visited waterfalls are Webster s Falls (named after Joseph Webster) and Tews Falls. Both waterfalls are accessible by the Bruce trail leading to the Dundas Peninsula. In 1819, Joseph Webster purchased property on the escarpment above Dundas, including the waterfall which still bears his family s name. Webster s Falls has now been made into a public park. Dundas also has the Dundas Peak. The Peak overlooks Dundas from The Bruce Trail in Flamborough and has become one of the most visited parts of Dundas. Hikers can take the Bruce Trail from Tews or Webster s Falls to the peak and look over Dundas and West Hamilton.
