We fell in love with the house and its quirky nature but we wanted to improve the accommodation and create more user-friendly living spaces, they said. In doing so, we uncovered a lot of the building s original character, such as the beams, flint walls and exposed brickwork. We also wanted a large garage so we built the detached outbuilding a triple garage with a sitting room, bedroom and bathroom above it - which has been extremely handy when family come to stay. It would also suit people who need to look after an elderly relative or a teenager in search of a bit more space and independence. It was with a heavy heart that we decided to sell up after all, this was only supposed to be a holiday home for us; we couldn t bear to leave! But due to family circumstances, something had to give. Home Sweet Home We appreciate all of the rooms but we are particularly fond of the sitting room in the main house it has such a warm ambience, especially with the log fire roaring and the kitchen, remarked the owners. The latter is a great size - it s perfect for meals and socialising and in the summer, with the bi-fold doors that open out to the terrace, the whole area flows beautifully. We must also mention the conservatory too, that provides another excellent place to relax and watch the seasons go by. The Great Outdoors One thing we ve really relished is the amount of variety we have in the gardens, they continued. We decided to divide up the space and build a wall with reclaimed brick; there s now the formal lawned area, the vegetable patch and two separate areas for entertaining the terrace and an al fresco dining space with a pergola. There s plenty going on to please people of all ages. And with the amount of land at your disposal, entertaining will be an absolute joy. It s just perfect for hosting family and friends as there s plenty of space and lots of seating areas. In fact, we even had our son s wedding reception in an outdoor marquee, which was very special. To be able to do that here gave us a lot of pleasure.

6 The Quiet Life We love to wake up and hear nothing but the sound of the birds singing, the owners beamed. It s such a peaceful, idyllic setting and when you see horses trotting down the road, it just adds to the rural feel. Longham is a quiet village there is a good pub, however but there s so much to see and do in the vicinity. It gives you the best of both worlds. The market town of Dereham is just over five miles away for all your amenities, such as supermarkets, restaurants, a leisure centre and a cinema. But if you want to sample the city life or visit the spectacular North Norfolk coast, both can be accessed without too much effort. The coast, with all its fabulous beaches, eateries and picturesque villages, is only a 35 minute drive away and Norwich is around the same from here. We re very well placed. Entrance Hall As you walk through the composite door, to the left there are timber stairs which lead to the first floor landing, vaulted ceiling, double glazed window with views over to the rear garden. A square from the entrance hall leads to a long inner hallway with part exposed brick and flint walls. Inner Hall There is a timber latch door which houses the hot water cylinder and under floor heating. Cloakroom Vanity unit with inset wash hand basin, tiled splash back, pattern double glazed window to the rear, low level WC, wood effect flooring. Sitting Room Three double glazed windows to the front, exposed beam ceiling, two redbrick inglenook fireplaces, one housing a glass fronted wood log burner, both have beamed mantles with storage cupboards either side, wood flooring. Conservatory Access from the inner hall via an Oak framed archway, triple aspect with windows to both sides and to rear, door leading to rear garden, tiled flooring, exposed brickwork.
