Our aim is to encourage and cultivate this so even more flora and fauna make their homes among ours. We are planting 40 acres of native species woodland and are reinstating the natural watercourses, which will help encourage red squirrels, roe deer and brown hares to thrive, as well as enticing new species to the area. We ve already embarked on a management programme to protect and improve the woodland and secure its sustainable future. We re clearing burns, repairing deer fences and planting new wildlife environments including planting 30,000 trees of native species. We ve chosen renewable or reusable materials and devised innovative ways of minimising the effect of construction and ensuring the conservation of energy. We ll be using the Ochils to provide our residents with pure, fresh water, the same range of hills that Highland Spring use as their bottled water source. Our plan is to install a wind turbine so the site can generate its own energy. All homes will be built with the highest standard of energy efficiency and we ve proposed low-energy heating via geothermal heat exchangers. Our aim is for the entire community to run with zero carbon status. Our partner, Environ, is a leading environmental consultancy which has achieved ISO and BREEAM accreditation - the highest environmental benchmarks available.
