3 Water Leak Total Calls for Month of October 304 Fire Marshal s Office for the month of October: 34 Fire Inspections Finished up the Hydro Testing for Toppan TCO for Toppan checked the facility for alarms, flows and fire pumps operations Worked on Image Trend setting up for Spalding Fire and Image Trend Class CERT Class started 22 October every Thursday 31 October 2015 we had an open house for touch a truck and pitch the SPLOST State wide Fire Drill for First Assembly Met with First Assembly on their School Evacuation plan with Ms. Fields and 500 & 502 Special Details performed by fire personnel: : Chief Polk presented emergency preparedness information to Skipstone Academy middles schoolers : Skipstone Academy grades 3-5 arrived for a station and fire safety house tour : Chief Polk attended a National Service Webinar for the upcoming rain event from Hurricane Joaquin : Submitted press releases for Time Change and Smoke Detector battery change and for 2015 Fire Prevention week. Zion Academy arrived at HQ Station for a Station Tour : Shift C Squad 3, Engine 3, Engine 6, and Battalion 1 went to Jackson Road Elementary School for a Fire Safety Detail : Chief West, Chief Clark and Chief Polk went to staff meeting : Volunteer Firefighter Daniel Adams reported on duty at Headquarters station : Shift A Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 2, and the FSH went to First United Methodist Church for a Fire Safety Detail : Shift B Moreland Road Elementary toured Station 1 and went through the Fire Safety House, and learned about Engine : Volunteer Firefighter Daniel Adams reported on duty at Headquarters station : Chief West, Chief Clark, Chief Polk and Captain Goodman along with Bill Gay and Eric Mosley interviewed applicants for the firefighter positions : Chief West, Chief Clark, Chief Polk, Captain Williams and Captain Goodman along with 911 Director Barbara Lights met with Eric Mosley in regards to the ISO update : Spalding County Fire assisted the Griffin Spalding County Schools with the annual statewide fire drill at the county facilities : Shift C Engine 1, Engine 2, Squad 3, Squad 7, Unit 7, the Fire Safety House, and Battalion 1 went to Anne St. School for a Fire Safety Detail : Shift C Engine 4 went to Beaverbrook Elementary for a Fire Safety Detail : Chief West, Chief Clark, Chief Polk and Captain Goodman met with Bill Gay and Eric Mosley in regards to the firefighter interview results and hiring process results. Jeremy joined the Spalding County Fire Department as a firefighter in February Chief West presenting a Walmart gift card to Caleb Herriage for the United Way drawing. Caleb Herriage joined the Spalding County Fire Department as a firefighter on September : Shift A Battalion 1, Engine 1, and Engine 4 reported to Spalding County Fair Grounds to conduct Fire Safety Education. 6 : Shift B Battalion 1, Engine 1, and Engine 4 reported to Spalding County Fair Grounds to conduct Fire Safety Education : Shift A Battalion 1, Engine 1, and Engine 6 went to the Fairgrounds for public relations detail. Firefighters passed out fire safety literature, balloons, and fire hats : Lieutenant Martin Batts attended a Fire Instructor Course at GPSTC in Forsyth, Georgia : Shift B Engines participated in Senior Airman Ruiz Funeral Procession. Ladder Truck Engine 1 and Griffin Fire Ladder Truck met at the Old Walmart and raised the American Flag in honor Senior Airman Ruiz. Engine 4 & Engine 7 stood by at Birdie Road / North Expressway, Engine 6 & Squad 7 stood by at Vineyard Road / North Expressway, Engine 3 & Squad 3 stood by at Highfalls Road and Hwy 16 E. Engine 2 and Lt. White stood by at North McDonough Road / Hwy 16 E : Shift B Battalion 1, Engine 5, and Engine 2 went to Kiwanis Fairgrounds for Fire Safety Education. They passed our fire safety literature, balloons, and fire hats : Griffin City Fire Shift Commander Rodney Dingler was advised the County Ladder truck was down and the city was placed on standby until further notice : Spalding County Office of Homeland Security Team members Melissa Jackson, Firefighter Aaron Burrow, Firefighter Preston Slaughter, Lt. Eric Huggins, Lt. Zavario Johnson had the opportunity to practice our closed water dive check offs in the Spalding County Sherriff s Department Dive/Rescue team tank and the Kiwanis Fairgrounds. 8 : New furniture was delivered to Station : Skipstone Academy middle school for tour, career information and preparedness presentation : Chief West, Chief Polk, Captain Williams, Lt. White and Lt. Huggins attended the Point of Distribution (POD) planning meeting at the health department : Lt. White has been working with the voter registration (early voting) on Code Red registration : Chief West, Chief Polk and Battalion Chief Lyons attended the commissioners meeting. 13 : Coordinated with Tony Head of the Griffin Moose lodge regarding the upcoming CERT program : Chief Polk and Lt. White presented the CERT orientation and disaster preparedness information to the first session at the Griffin Moose Lodge : Chief Polk met with Joshua Freese of Bennet Fire products to set up a presentation of products : Shift C 95 Pike County Pre-K students and their parents arrived for a Station Tour and Fire Safety House Detail : All C Shift Personnel tested their Breathing Apparatus at HQ : Shift A Squad 7, Battalion 1, Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 6, and Engine 4 received 1 hour of Safety While Backing Training while they were at Headquarters for Breathing Apparatus testing : All C Shift personnel trained on proper vehicle backing procedures : Shift C Squad 3, Battalion 1, Engine 2, Engine 6, and the Fire Safety House attended Futral Road Elementary Fall Festival to teach Fire Safety : Chief West visited station : Chief West visited Station 4 personnel for an hour and half : Chief West attended a Griffin-Spalding County Library Meet and Greet : Chief West participate in the second annual cancer warrior run to support a cure for cancer, it was a 5k run at Tyus Park : Shift A Engine 4 reported to Volunteer Park for Spalding County Recreational Football on medical standby. Moriah Baptist Church for Fire Safety Detail : Shift A Engine 3, and Squad 3 reported to 9 Jenkinsburg Road Ringgold Baptist Church for Fire Safety Detail : Shift B Personnel Engine 1 and Fire Safety House attended Carver Road Baptist Church for Fire Safety Detail : Shift C Engine 1 and Squad 3 went to First Baptist Church for Friendly Fireman Detail : Battalion Chief Slaughter went to the Spalding County 911 Center to observe Fire and EMS dispatchers : Chief West, Chief Polk and Eric Mosley met with Kim Dutton of Three Rivers in regards to the upcoming Hazard Mitigation Plan update : Scheduled the upcoming statewide tornado drill with Chief Slaughter and C shift for November : Chief Polk, Captain Goodman and Lt. White worked on planning for the upcoming open house : 4 new firefighter recruits reported for their first day of recruit school. This will be the 34 th Class : Chief Polk and Captain Goodman did orientation with new recruits : Chief Polk met with Lyn Shockley regarding new janitorial supplies : Chief Polk and Captain Williams met with Jason Byers from the school system regarding CISM training for personnel : Eric Mosley by to meet with Chief West and to meet new recruits : Battalion 1 reported to Spalding County 911 Center where Battalion Chief Jones and Mitchel Kimbell observed 911 dispatchers on Fire and EMS radio for 2 hours : Shift A Engine 1, Engine 2, Battalion 1, and the Fire Safety House reported to Head Start at 390 Wilson Road to conduct Fire Safety Education. White met with Cheryl Fields of Griffin Christian in regards to a relocation plan & : The Spalding County Office of Homeland Security continued to get all its 13 dive team member s closed water dive check offs for our certification. Here are pictures of Firefighter Aron Burrow, Firefighter Jeremy Green, and Firefighter Mike Ellis. Dr. Andrew Hartpence, Dean Gilmore, John Grey, Gordon Statham, and Johnnie Shuburte have donated many hours of their time to help our members obtain our certification. We are very appreciative of their commitment to serve. Our Open Water dive is scheduled for November 14th in White, Georgia at the Dive Georgia Quarry. Mjackson 10/31/
