Recorded as one of only six manor houses that were in Penwith at the time of the Civil War, Brea is thought to be the oldest of the manors still standing. The current house was built by Charles Ellis and completed in The Ellis family were Quakers and staunch Royalists and it is said that Charles Ellis provided sanctuary to the 16 year old Charles Stuart during his escape to France via the Isles of Scilly. The property has huge charm and retains many original features. The porch way leads into the spacious dining hall which features a large granite inglenook fireplace and overlooks the garden. The sitting room also boasts a further huge granite inglenook complete with an inset wood burning stove and fine beamed ceiling.
