HEPA s an acronym for Hgh Effcency Partculate Ar, whch descrbes a fbrous meda desgned to remove 99.97% of partculates of 0.3 mcrons or larger n sze. A mcron s one mllonth of a meter. Read all nstructons before usng ar cleaner. 2. Ths product s equpped wth a polarzed alternatng current lne plug (a plug havng one blade wder than _he other). Ths plug wll ft nto the power outlet onlyone way. Ths s a SAFETY' FEATURE, f you are unable to nsert the plug fully nto the outlet, try reversng the plug. If the plug should stll fal to ft, contact an electrcan to replace the obsolete outlet. DO NOT defeat the safety pu_ose of the polarzed plug. 3. Atways unplug the HEPA Ar Cleaner when not n use. 4. Do not operate the HEPA Ar Cleaner wth a damaged cord or plug or after the Ar Cleaner malfunctons, has been dropped or damaged n any manner. Return" to SEARS for examnaton, electrcal or mechancal adjustment or repar. 5. Do not run power cord under carpetng. Do not cover cord wth throw rugs, runners or the lke. Arrange the power cord away from traffc areas, so t wll not become a trppng hazard. " 6. Unplug the HEPA Ar Cleaner pror to movng, cleanng or changng th'e replacement flters. 7. IONIZER CONTROL SWITCH -. Turns the nternal IONIZER ON and OFF. LOCKING MECHANISM-. Lockng t:levce that allows easy access for changng the preflter and HEPA flter. POWER CONTROL SWITCH -turns the ar cleaner ON and OFF and controls the volume of ar movng through the HEPA cleanng system. 5 SET-UP Vsually.nspect the HEPA Ar Cleaner upon removng the unt from ts box. Remove and dscard any packagng materal. Return the unt f t shows any sgns of damage or mshandlng. Ths unt was thoroughly nspected and tested-at the factory pror to packagng. CAUTI 0 N Never operate the, _. ELECTRICAL o HOOK=UP FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT Plug the ar cleaner nto a polarzed 120 Volt AC. wall outlet. '6/AR N! N G To avod fre or shock hazard, the HEPA ar cleaner should "o_ly be plugged nto a polarzed 120 Volt AC. outlet. Step 1 Tumthe HEPA Ar Cleaner OFF and unplug the unt from the power outlet. Step 2 To open, gently place the ar cleaner on t's sde. Unscrew the LOCKING HANDLE to release the BASE from the ar cleaner, OPERATION LOCKINGKNOB Adjust the power/control swtch to the desred output settng" =SUPER,. BASE 1 CLEANING Step 3 NOTE: PRIOR TO ANY CLEANING OPERATION, THE HEPA AIR CLEANER MUST BE TURNED OFF AND UNPLUGGED FROM THE POWER OUTLET. Remove cleaner. the BASE assembly from the ar Steps 4, 6 & 6 - Replacng the carbon Impregnated lore-flter (tem #433166). Clean the HEPA ar cleaner's external surfaces Step 4 wth a mostened soft cloth only. Do Not" Drectly Wet Wth Water Or Any Abrasve.Remove the Flter Assembly (consstng of Type Cleaner. Clean all external surfaces, the HEPA flter and pre flter) from the Power especally the Ar Intake and Ext grlls. Head. -,.:.,,

6 Step 5 Locate the seam of the pre-flter and carefully separate the pre-fterfrom the strap fastener = and remove from the HEPA flter. Step G Remove any plastc protectve wrappng from the new pre-fterpror to nserton nto the HEEPA Ar Cleaner. Secure approxmately ½ nch of the strap fastener to one edge of the carbon sde of the pre-flter. Carefully wrap the new pre-flter around the HEPA flter and secure t to the strap fastener. Once fastened the whte sde of the pre-flter should be exposed to vew. If the HEPA flter does not need replacng, proceed to step 9. Step 7,8 &8*Changng the HEPAflter(ltem #.8:3164) Step 7 The pre-flter must be replaced when the HEPA flter s replaced. Remove and dscard preflter (follow nstructon Steps 1-5). Next '. remove and-dscard the used HEPA flter assembly. Step 8 Remove,..a0y:protect.ve plastc wrappng from the new HEPA flter. Follow the Instructons n Step 6 to secure the new pre-flter around the HEPA flter. Step 9 Place the Flter Assembly (pre-flter plus HEPA flter) nto the POWER HEAD and nstall the Base. NOTE: The HEPA flter has no specal top-tobottom orentaton. It,,-411ft easly from ether end nto the Power Head. Step 10 Once the flter assembly s correctly nserted, lock the Base nto place by replacng and tghtenng the Lockng Handle securely. Step 1 1 Turn the HEPA AIR CLEANER uprght and t s ready for operaton... NOTE= These specally desgned, maxmum performance flters are made for easy replacement. THEY ARE NOT WASHABLE. POWER HEAD LOCKING KNOB INNER CHARCOAL PRE-FILTER OUTER WHITE PRE-FILTER BASE NOTE- The strap fastener should be attached to the nner carbon sde of the pre-flter assembly.

7 FILTER CHANGE SCHEDULE PRE-FILTER (Item #83I 65) The pre-flter should be changed every 3 months orsoonerdependng upon the frequency of ar cleaner use and the level of room ar contamnants. Judgements should be based upon the odor absorbng ablty ofthe flter. HEPA FILTER (Item #831 54) The usable lfetme of the HEPA flter-s 3-5 years dependng upon the level of the rooms ar contamnants and the frequency ofuse. The arvolume output wll begn to decrease dramatcally when the flter needs to be changed. Keep a spare flter on hand for changng when needed.
