2 2 Important safety nformaton Read ths manual before attemptng to nstall the devce! Falure to observe recommendatons ncluded n ths manual may be dangerous or cause a volaton of the law. The manufacturer, Fbar Group S.A. wll not be held responsble for any loss or damage resultng from not followng the nstructons of operatng manual. General carbon monoxde nformaton Carbon monoxde (CO) s a colourless, odourless, and tasteless poson gas that can be fatal when nhaled. It s produced when lqud, sold, or gas fuel s burned. Symptoms of carbon monoxde posonng The early symptoms of carbon monoxde posonng can be confused wth flu-lke symptoms: headache, dzzness and nausea. Breathng carbon monoxde causes these symptoms even n healthy people. It can also cause sleepness, vson problems (ncludng blurred vson), rngng n the ears, achng arms and legs, rregular breathng, fatgue and confuson. At very hgh levels, t causes loss of conscousness and death. Some external factors, eg. exposure to hgh concentraton of basc (non-acdc) gases, slcone vapors, hydrogen sulfde or sulfurc acd gas, organc vapors, contact wth water, dust and ol mst, or dew condensaton may affect the relablty of the devce operaton. Ths devce may not protect from long-term exposure to low levels of carbon monoxde whch can also lead to neurologcal symptoms. The devce s not a substtute for approprate ventlaton and exhaust systems. General nformaton about the FIBARO System FIBARO s a wreless smart home automaton system, based on the Z-Wave protocol. All of avalable devces can be controlled through a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet. Z-Wave devces (nonbattery powered) are not only recevers, but can also repeat the sgnal, ncreasng the Z-Wave network s range. It gves advantage over tradtonal wreless systems that requre drect lnk between transmtter and recever, as a result the constructon of the buldng could affect network s range negatvely. Every FIBARO network has ts unque dentfcaton number (home ID). Multple ndependent networks can exst n the buldng wthout nterferng. Transmsson securty of FIBARO System s comparable to wred systems. Z-Wave technology s the leadng soluton n smart home automaton. There s a wde range of Z-Wave devces that are mutually compatble, ndependently of manufacturer. It gves the system the ablty to evolve and expand over tme. For more nformaton vst:

3 3 #1: Descrpton and features FIBARO CO Sensor s an ultra-lght, compact, battery-powered carbon monoxde detector, desgned to be placed on a wall. Its hgh senstvty allows to detect the presence of the carbon monoxde (CO) gas at the early stage n order to prevent carbon monoxde posonng. Alarm s sgnalled wth a bult-n sren, blnkng LED ndcator and by sendng commands to Z-Wave network devces. Addtonally, the devce s equpped wth a temperature sensor. Man features of FIBARO CO Sensor: compatble wth any Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ Controller supports protected mode (Z-Wave network securty mode) wth AES-128 encrypton wall-mounted battery-powered completely wreless alarm sgnalled wth a bult-n sren and LED dode bult-n temperature sensor FIBARO CO Sensor s a fully compatble Z-Wave PLUS devce. Ths devce may be used wth all devces certfed wth the Z-Wave Plus certfcate and should be compatble wth such devces produced by other manufacturers. FIBARO CO Sensor s a Securty Enabled Z-Wave Plus product and a Securty Enabled Z-Wave Controller must be used n order to fully utlze the product. Descrpton and features

4 4 #2: Basc actvaton Recommended heght of nstallaton s dependant on the purpose of the room and heght at whch head typcally s. 1. Turn the cover counter-clockwse. PULL 1xCR123A(3V) 2. Take off the cover. FIBARO CO Sensor may operate as a stand-alone carbon monoxde detector or may be used n cooperaton wth Z-Wave Controller (eg. FIBARO Home Center) as a part of smart home system. PULL 1xCR123A(3V) PULL 1xCR123A(3V) Beep! 3. Remove the paper strp protectng the battery. 4. Proper powerng up wll be confrmed wth a short beep. 5. Add the devce (as descrbed n "Addng/removng the devce") f you want to use t n the Z-Wave network. Basc actvaton

5 5 #3: Addng/removng the devce Addng (Incluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to add the devce to exstng Z-Wave network. To add the devce: 1. Place the devce wthn drect range of the Z-Wave controller. 2. Set the man Z-Wave controller n (securty/non-securty) addng mode (see the controller s manual). 3. Quckly, trple clck the button located on the casng. Button When powered, the devce wll ndcate Z-Wave status wth colour of LED: Green - the devce s already added to the Z-Wave network. Red - the devce s not added to any Z-Wave network. 4. Wat for the devce to be added nto the system. 5. Successful addng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. Removng (Excluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to remove the devce from exstng Z-Wave network. To remove the devce: 1. Place the devce wthn drect range of the Z-Wave controller. 2. Set the man Z-Wave controller n remove mode (see the controller s manual). 3. Quckly, trple clck the button located on the casng. 4. Wat for the removng process to end. 5. Successful removng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. In case the devce s not added, please reset the devce and repeat the addng procedure. When changng the Sensor s locaton, t s recommended to wake up the devce and reconfgure the Z-Wave network by clckng the button. Removng the devce from the Z-Wave network restores all the default parameters of the devce. Addng/removng the devce

6 6 #4: Physcal nstallaton! READ BEFORE INSTALLATION AND HEED ALL THE WARNINGS! The devce should be nstalled below the celng level. The devce should be nstalled on the wall, at least 30 cm (1 ft) away from the corners. The devce should not be nstalled: n a bathroom, next to heat sources, wthn range of kds, obstructed from possble carbon monoxde sources, n drect sunlght. The devce should be nstalled by a qualfed nstallator. Do not pant the devce. The devce should be cleaned wth a slghtly damp cloth or mostened tssue. Recommended heght of nstallaton s dependant on the purpose of the room and heght at whch head typcally s. Place of nstallaton: NOT HERE CEILING 30cm/1ft HERE WALL 1.5m/5ft Installaton on the wall: FLOOR Mount the cover on a wall. 2. Attach the devce to ts cover. 3. Turn the devce clockwse to close t. 7 7 #5: Operatng the devce Menu allows to perform Z-Wave network actons. In order to use the menu: 1. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds 2. You should hear a short sgnal whle the LED dode blnks whte. 3. Release the button. 4. Wat for the devce to ndcate desred menu poston wth a colour: Whte - confrm the start of the frmware update process Green - send the current state of CO Alarm Magenta - Z-Wave network's range test Yellow - the devce reset 5. Press the button to confrm selecton. CO Sensor must be detached from the wall and battery level must be greater than 30% of ts full capacty to perform the frmware update process. Wakng up the devce: The CO Sensor needs to be woken up to receve nformaton about the new confguraton from the Z-Wave controller, lke parameters and assocatons. To wake up the sensor manually clck the button located on the casng. Self-test: 1. Press and hold the button. 2. The LED ndcator wll glow whte and you wll hear a short beep. 3. Release the button when you hear the frst alarm sequence. 4. Move away from the devce to protect your hearng.! If the self-test procedure does not result n emttng sound and red lght sgnal, replace the devce. Resettng the devce to factory defaults: Reset procedure allows to restore the devce back to ts factory settngs, whch means all nformaton about the Z-Wave controller and user confguraton wll be deleted. 1. Press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when LED ndcator glows whte and short beep sounds. 3. Clck the button when LED ndcator glows yellow. 4. After few seconds the devce wll be reset (confrmed by red LED ndcator and long beep).! CAUTION The alarm s very loud! Only the frst alarm sequence s queter. Resettng the devce s not the recommended way of removng the devce from the Z-Wave network. Use the reset procedure only f the prmary controller s mssng or noperable. Certan devce removal can be acheved by the procedure of removng descrbed n "Addng/ removng the devce" on page 5. Operatng the devce

8 8 #6: Vsual ndcatons & acoustc sgnals Indcatons and sgnals: The CO Sensor s equpped wth a LED dode and a buzzer, sgnallng menu poston and status of the devce. 9 9 #7: Battery FIBARO CO Sensor can be powered wth CR123A (ncluded) battery. Estmated battery lfe wth devce on default settngs s 3 years (tested wth Panasonc Industral Lthum). Checkng battery level: FIBARO CO Sensor automatcally warns about low battery wth one yellow blnk and a short beep, when battery level s low. Replacng the battery: 1. Remove the devce from the cover by turnng t counter-clockwse. 2. Pull the paper strp to take out the battery. 3. Press and hold the button for at least one second. 4. Insert a new CR123A battery observng the polartes shown nsde. 5. Attach the devce to ts cover by turnng t clockwse and perform the test (as descrbed n #5: Operatng the devce).! CAUTION Usng batteres other than specfed may result n exploson. Dspose of properly, observng envronmental protecton rules.! CAUTION Use only type of battery specfed n ths manual and keep proper polarty! Battery

10 10 #8: Assocatons Assocaton ensures drect transfer of control commands between devces, s performed wthout partcpaton of the man controller and requres assocated devce to be n the drect range. 2nd and 4th assocaton groups use BASIC CC, but the devce does not repond to GET commands. Assocaton (lnkng devces) - drect control of other devces wthn the Z-Wave system network e.g. Dmmer, Relay Swtch, Roller Shutter or scene (may be controlled only through a Z-Wave controller). The devce provdes the assocaton of sx groups: 1st assocaton group Lfelne reports the devce status and allows for assgnng sngle devce only (man controller by default). 2nd assocaton group CO Alarm s assgned to the devce status - devces n ths group wll be swtched on/off when CO Alarm status changes. 3rd assocaton group CO Alarm s assgned to the devce status - devces n ths group wll receve notfcaton when CO Alarm status changes. Useful for devces that can trgger alarms. 4th assocaton group CO Level s assgned to measured CO level - devces n ths group wll be swtched on/off after exceedng the level of CO concentraton specfed n parameter 14. 5th assocaton group Tamper Alarm s assgned to the tamper - sends tamper alarm and cancellaton frames to the assocated devces. 6th assocaton group CO Alarm BC s assgned to the devce status - devces n ths group wll receve sensor alarm frames when CO Alarm status changes. Provdes backward compatblty wth controllers not supportng Z-Wave+ protocol. 7th assocaton group Tamper Alarm BC s assgned to the tamper - sends tamper alarm and alarm cancellaton frames to the assocated devces. Provdes backward compatblty wth controllers not supportng Z-Wave+ protocol. The CO Sensor n 2nd to 7th group allows to control 5 regular or multchannel devces per an assocaton group. LfeLne group s reserved solely for the controller and hence only 1 node can be assgned. It s not recommended to assocate more than 10 devces n general, as the response tme to control commands depends on the number of assocated devces. In extreme cases, system response may be delayed. To add an assocaton (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Clck the Settng Assocaton button. 4. Specfy to whch group and what devces are to be assocated. 5. Save the changes. 6. Press the button to wake up the devce. Assocatons

12 12 #9: Advanced parameters Enterng nvald value of parameter wll result n response wth Applcaton Rejected frame and not settng the value. The CO Sensor allows to customze ts operaton to user s needs. The settngs are avalable n the FIBARO nterface as smple optons that may be chosen by selectng the approprate box. In order to confgure the CO Sensor (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Modfy values of chosen parameters. 4. Save the changes. 5. Press the button to wake up the devce. Wake up nterval Avalable settngs: 0 or (n seconds, 1h - 12h) Default settng: (every 6 hours) The CO Sensor wll wake up at each defned tme nterval and always try to connect wth the man controller. After successful communcaton attempt, the devce wll update confguraton parameters, assocatons, settngs and then wll go nto Z-Wave communcaton standby. After faled communcaton attempt (eg. no Z-Wave range) the devce wll go nto Z-Wave communcaton standby and retry to establsh connecton wth the man controller after the next tme nterval. Settng wake up nterval to 0 dsables sendng Wake Up notfcaton to the controller automatcally. Wake up may be stll performed manually usng the button. Longer tme nterval means less frequent communcaton and thus a longer battery lfe. 2. Z-Wave notfcatons Ths parameter allows to set the actons whch result n sendng notfcatons to the Z-Wave network controller. Avalable settngs: 0 - both actons dsabled 1 - tamperng (opened casng) 2 - exceedng the temperature 3 - both actons enabled Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 3. LED dode ndcatons Ths parameter allows to set the actons whch result n LED dode ndcatons. Ths parameter does not apply to the most mportant actons, such as CO Alarm, Malfuncton Alarm and Low Battery Alarm. Advanced parameters

Adjustng the value allows to get the accurate data n case of danger and helps to save the battery n normal condtons.
