3 3 Important safety nformaton! Read ths manual before attemptng to nstall the devce! Falure to observe recommendatons ncluded n ths manual may be dangerous or cause a volaton of the law. The manufacturer, Fbar Group S.A. wll not be held responsble for any loss or damage resultng from not followng the nstructons of operatng manual. General nformaton about the FIBARO System FIBARO s a wreless smart home automaton system, based on the Z-Wave protocol. All of avalable devces can be controlled through a computer (PC or Mac), smartphone or tablet. Z-Wave devces are not only recevers, but can also repeat the sgnal, ncreasng the Z-Wave network s range. It gves advantage over tradtonal wreless systems that requre drect lnk between transmtter and recever, as a result the constructon of the buldng could affect network s range negatvely. Every Z-Wave network has ts unque dentfcaton number (home ID). Multple ndependent networks can exst n the buldng wthout nterferng. Transmsson securty of FIBARO System s comparable to wred systems. Z-Wave technology s the leadng soluton n smart home automaton. There s a wde range of Z-Wave devces that are mutually compatble, ndependently of manufacturer. It gves the system the ablty to evolve and expand over tme. For more nformaton vst:

4 4 #1: Descrpton and features FIBARO Door/Wndow Sensor s a wreless, battery powered reed sensor compatble wth the Z-Wave standard. Changng the devce s status wll automatcally send sgnal to the Z-Wave controller and assocated devces. Sensor can be used to trgger scenes and everywhere there s a need for nformaton about openng or closng of doors, wndows, garage doors, etc. Openng s detected by separatng the sensor s body and the magnet. In addton the FIBARO Door/Wndow Sensor supports one DS18B20 temperature sensor and has one potental free nput. Ths devce may be used wth all devces certfed wth Z-Wave Plus certfcate and should be compatble wth such devces produced by other manufacturers. FIBARO Door/Wndow Sensor s a Securty Enabled Z-Wave Plus product and a Securty Enabled Z-Wave Controller must be used n order to fully utlze the product. Man features of FIBARO Door/Wndow Sensor: Compatble wth any Z-Wave or Z-Wave+ Controller, Supports protected mode (Z-Wave network securty mode) wth AES-128 encrypton, Door/wndow openng detected through separaton of Sensor s body and a magnet, Easly mounted on doors, wndows, garage gates and roller blnds, Battery powered, Vsual LED ndcator sgnallng status of the devce, Compatble wth the DS18B20 temperature sensor, Potental-free nput allowng to connect a button or bnary sensor. 5 5 #2: Basc actvaton 1. Open the cover. 2. Remove the battery blocker. 3. Close the cover. The antenna should be placed above the battery. Never cut, shorten or bend the antenna. Its length s suted to the band at whch the system operates. Metal surfaces n close vcnty (e.g. metal swtch boxes, metal door trms) may mpar the recepton capablty. 4. Add the devce (see Addng/removng the devce on page 6). 5. Install the devce (see Physcal nstallaton on page 9). Basc actvaton

6 6 #3: Addng/removng the devce Addng n securty mode must be performed up to 2 meters from the controller. In case the devce s not added, please reset the devce and repeat the addng procedure. Addng (Incluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to add the devce to exstng Z-Wave network. To add the devce to the Z-Wave network: 1. Close the cover. 2. Place the Door/Wndow Sensor wthn the drect range of your Z-Wave controller. 3. Set the man controller nto (securty/non-securty) add mode (see the controller s manual). 4. Quckly, three tmes press the TMP button. TMP button 5. Wat for the addng process to end. 6. Successful addng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. Removng the devce from the Z-Wave network restores all the default parameters of the devce (except for parameter 20). Removng (Excluson) - Z-Wave devce learnng mode, allowng to remove the devce from exstng Z-Wave network. To remove the devce from the Z-Wave network: 1. Close the cover. 2. Place the Door/Wndow Sensor wthn the drect range of your Z-Wave controller. 3. Set the man controller nto remove mode (see the controller s manual). 4. Quckly, three tmes press the TMP button. TMP button 5. Wat for the removng process to end. 6. Successful removng wll be confrmed by the Z-Wave controller s message. Addng/removng the devce

7 7 #4: Temperature sensor The DS18B20 temperature sensor may be nstalled anywhere where temperature readouts are necessary. If adequately protected, the DS18B20 sensor may be nstalled n humd condtons, under water, sealed n concrete or placed under the floor. To actvate the devce wth temperature measurement functonalty: 1. Open the cover. 2. Connect the temperature sensor to termnals of the devce accordng to the dagram: (TOP VIEW) - TMP TP (TEMP_POWER) - power supply termnal of temperature sensor TD (TEMP_DATA) - sgnal termnal of temperature sensor GND (GROUND) - ground termnal + TP (VDQ) TD (DQ) 3. Add the devce (see Addng/removng the devce on page 6). 4. Install the devce (see Physcal nstallaton on page 9). GND DS18B GND TD (DQ) 3 TP (VDQ) max 30m 1 2 DS18B (BOTTOM VIEW)! CAUTION! CAUTION Connectng devces and sensors other than DS18B20 s not allowed. Connected the devce n accordance wth the wrng dagram. Incorrect wrng may be dangerous or result n the devce breakdown. Connectng/dsconnectng the temperature sensor to/from prevously added Door/Wndow Sensor, requres removng and re-addng the devce to the Z-Wave network. Temperature sensor

8 8 #5: Button or external sensor Potental-free nput s a type of nput contact whch does not have a voltage on t after closng.! CAUTION Connected the devce n accordance wth the wrng dagram. Incorrect wrng may be dangerous or result n the devce breakdown. Door/Wndow Sensor s equpped wth a potental-free nput. It allows to change devce state usng the external button or sensor through GND sgnal. If the Door/Wndow Sensor wll be used only as a bnary sensor, do not nstall the magnet. To actvate the devce as a bnary sensor: 1. Open the cover. 2. Connect the button or external sensor to termnals of the devce accordng to dagram: (TOP VIEW) - + TMP GND IN GND (GROUND) - ground termnal IN - potental-free nput MOMENTARY SWITCH 3. Add the devce (see Addng/removng the devce on page 6) f the devce s not already added. 4. In case of connectng external sensor modfy advanced parameter no. 20 to match type of the sensor, then remove and re-add the devce to the network. 5. Install the devce (see Physcal nstallaton on page 9). Button or external sensor

9 9 #6: Physcal nstallaton To nstall the Door/Wndow Sensor: 1. Stck the ncluded self-adhesve pads to the bottom of the devce and magnet. 2. Peel off the protectve layer of the stcker. 3. Stck the devce onto the door/wndow frame. 4. Stck the magnet onto the movng part of the door/wndow, no further than 5mm from the sensor. Postonng of the Sensor and the magnet: Correct postonng of the magnet n relaton to the Sensor: max. 5 mm Physcal nstallaton

10 10 #7: Operatng the devce Tamper (TMP) button: The Door/Wndow Sensor s equpped wth a tamper swtch wth two buttons. Frst TMP button s located nsde the devce, pressed by the closed cover. Second TMP button s located at bottom of the devce, pressed by the surface on whch the devce s mounted. For the tamper swtch to work one of the buttons must always be pressed! When one of the buttons s released, the tamper alarm wll be send to the controller and assocated devces. Addtonally, tamper button allows to control the devce drectly. (TOP VIEW) TMP - + (BOTTOM VIEW) TMP Controllng the Door/Wndow Sensor wth FIBARO Home Center controller: After addng the Sensor to the FIBARO System, t wll be represented by one or two cons n Home Center nterface. Sensor wthout connected DS18B20 sensor or used wth a button connected to IN nput (wthout magnet), wll be represented by a sngle con. In case of connectng DS18B20 temperature sensor, the addtonal temperature sensor con wll be dsplayed. Operatng the devce

11 11 Wakng up the Door/Wndow Sensor: The Door/Wndow Sensor needs to be woken up to receve nformaton about the new confguraton from the controller, lke parameters and assocatons. To wake up the sensor manually, clck one of the TMP buttons (whle the other button s pressed). Openng the casng may result n trggerng an alarm. To avod t, remove the assocatons for the 5th group. Resettng the Door/Wndow Sensor: Reset procedure deletes EEPROM s memory, ncludng all nformaton on the Z-Wave network and the man controller. 1. Open the cover. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Install the battery whle holdng both TMP buttons. 4. Release the TMP button wthn 5 seconds. 5. Vsual ndcator wll blnk 3 tmes to confrm launchng of reset procedure. 6. Wat around 30s for the resettng process to end, do not remove the battery. 7. Vsual LED ndcator wll blnk 6 tmes to confrm the reset. Resettng the devce s not the recommended way of removng the devce from the Z-Wave network. Use reset procedure only f the prmary controller s mssng or noperable. Certan devce removal can be acheved by the procedure of removng descrbed n Addng/ removng the devce on page 6. Replacng the battery: Lfe of the battery ncluded wth the devce s from 12 to 24 months (on default settngs). In FIBARO Home Center controller current battery level s dsplayed n the nterface. If a battery con turns red, t means the battery needs replacement.! CAUTION There s a rsk of exploson f the battery s replaced wth an ncorrect type. Batteres should be recycled where possble. Dspose of used batteres accordng to the envronmental laws n your country. Operatng the devce

12 12 #8: Assocaton Assocaton allows drect transfer of control commands between devces, s performed wthout partcpaton of the man controller and requres assocated devce to be n drect range. Assocaton (lnkng devces) - drect control of other devces wthn the Z-Wave system network e.g. Dmmer, Relay Swtch, Roller Shutter or scene (may be controlled only through a Z-Wave controller). The Door/Wndow provdes the assocaton of fve groups: 1st Assocaton Group Lfelne reports the devce status and allows for assgnng sngle devce only (man controller by default). 2nd Assocaton Group Control s assgned to the devce status - reed sensor and IN nput (sends Basc Set command frames). 3rd Assocaton Group Alarm s assgned to the devce status - reed sensor and IN nput (sends alarm command frames). Its value may be modfed va advanced parameters. 4th Assocaton Group Sensor ZW3 s assgned to the devce status - reed sensor and IN nput (sends Basc Set command frames). Ths group provdes backward compatblty wth controllers not supportng Z-Wave+. 5th Assocaton Group Tamper ZW3 s assgned to the TMP swtch (sends alarm command frames). Ths group provdes backward compatblty wth controllers not supportng Z-Wave+. The Door/Wndow Sensor n 2nd to 5th group allows to control 5 regular and 5 multchannel devces per an assocaton group, wth the excepton of LfeLne that s reserved solely for the controller and hence only 1 node can be assgned. It s not recommended to assocate more than 10 devces n general, as the response tme to control commands depends on the number of assocated devces. In extreme cases, system response may be delayed. To add an assocaton (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. 3. Specfy to whch group and what devces are to be assocated. 4. Wat for the confguraton process to end. Sendng relevant nformaton to devces added to assocated groups may take even a few mnutes. 5. Wake up the devce manually to speed up the confguraton process. Assocaton

13 13 #9: Advanced parameters The Door/Wndow Sensor allows to customze ts operaton to user s needs. Settngs are avalable n the FIBARO nterface as smple optons that may be chosen by selectng the approprate box. In order to confgure the Door/Wndow Sensor (usng the Home Center controller): 1. Go to the devce optons by clckng the con: 2. Select the Advanced tab. Wake up nterval Avalable settngs: 0 or (n seconds, 1h - 18h) Default settng: (every 6 hours) The Door/Wndow Sensor wll wake up after each defned tme nterval and always try to connect wth the man controller. After a successful communcaton attempt, the sensor wll update confguraton parameters, assocatons and settngs and wll go nto standby mode. After faled communcaton attempt (e.g. lack of Z-Wave range) the devce wll go nto standby mode and retry to establsh connecton wth the man controller after the next tme nterval. Settng wake up nterval to 0 dsables sendng Wake Up Notfcaton frame automatcally. Wake up may be stll performed manually by a sngle TMP button clck. Longer tme nterval means less frequent communcaton and thus a longer battery lfe. 1. Operaton mode Parameter defnes devce operaton mode. Avalable settngs: 0 - Door/Wndow Sensor or external alarm sensor 1 - external button Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 2. Door/Wndow or alarm status Parameter defnes state of the sensor when the magnet s close. If the alarm sensor s connected, t determnes the output type. Parameter nactve n external button mode (parameter 1 set to 1).! CAUTION Do not nstall the magnet f the devce s not used as a Door/Wndow Sensor, as t mght lead to the malfuncton of the devce. Avalable settngs: 0 - door/wndow closed 1 - door/wndow opened Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] Advanced parameters

14 14 Values of parameter 3 may be combned, e.g. 1+2=3 means openng/closng and wake up wll be ndcated by the vsual ndcator. 3. Vsual LED ndcatons Ths parameter defnes events ndcated by the vsual LED ndcator. Dsablng events mght extend battery lfe. Avalable settngs: 0 - no ndcatons 1 - ndcaton of openng/closng status change (nput IN) 2 - ndcaton of wake up (1 x clck or perodcal) 4 - ndcaton of devce tamperng Default settng: 6 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 4. Range test after double clck Allows to enable actvaton of Z-Wave range test wth double clck of a TMP button. Avalable settngs: 0 - dsabled 1 - enabled Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 10. 2nd assocaton group trggers Parameter defnes events whch result n sendng on/off commands to devces added to the 2nd assocaton group. These commands are sent alternately to swtch the devces on and off. Commands represent the values of BASIC SET command frames. Parameter s nactve n external button mode (parameter 1 set to 1). Avalable settngs: 0 - swtch after openng and closng 1 - swtch after openng 2 - swtch after closng Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 11. Commands sent to 2nd assocaton group Command frames sent to devces added to the 2nd assocaton group. Avalable settngs: 0 - ON 1 - OFF 2 - ON & OFF Default settng: 2 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 12. Value of ON command frame sent to 2nd assocaton group The value of 0 turns OFF the devce, 255 turns t ON. In case of assocatng the Dmmer or Roller Shutter module, values 1-99 allow to set an assocated devce to a specfed level. Avalable settngs: 0-99 or 255 Default settng: 255 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] Advanced parameters

15 Value of OFF command frame sent to 2nd assocaton group The value of 0 turns OFF the devce, 255 turns t ON. In case of assocatng the Dmmer or Roller Shutter module, values 1-99 allow to set an assocated devce to a specfed level. Avalable settngs: 0-99 or 255 Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 14. Tme delay of ON command frame Tme perod after whch ON command frame wll be sent. Avalable settngs: tme n seconds Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 15. Tme delay of OFF command frame Tme perod after whch OFF command frame wll be sent. Avalable settngs: tme n seconds Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 20. Type of sent alarm frames Type of control frames transmtted to the man controller and 3rd assocaton group Alarm. If an external sensor s connected to IN nput, t s possble to choose ts functonalty. Otherwse t s recommended to set ths parameter to default value. Avalable settngs: 0 - Door/Wndow Sensor (General Purpose Alarm) 1 - smoke sensor (Smoke Alarm) 2 - CO detector (CO Alarm) 3 - CO2 detector (CO2 Alarm) 4 - hgh temperature sensor (Heat Alarm) 5 - flood sensor (Water Alarm) Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte]! CAUTION In order to actvate new settngs of parameter 20, t s requred to remove and re-add the devce to the man Z-Wave controller. Ths parameter s not reset durng removal process. 30. Delay of tamper alarm cancellaton Tme perod after whch a tamper alarm wll be cancelled. Avalable settngs: tme n seconds Default settng: 5 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 31. Reportng tamper alarm cancellaton Reportng cancellaton of tamper alarm to the controller and 5th assocaton group. Avalable settngs: 0 - do not send tamper cancellaton report 1 - send tamper cancellaton report Default settng: 1 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] Advanced parameters

16 Interval of temperature measurements Ths parameter defnes how often the temperature wll be measured. The shorter the tme, the more frequently the temperature wll be measured, but the battery lfe wll shorten. Parameter 51 s actve only f parameter 50 s not set to 0. Temperature measurement s performed before sendng any report (regardless of parameter no. 50). Excessve reportng can affect battery lfetme. Reportng on the bass of temperature change (parameter no. 51) s recommended. Avalable settngs: 0 - temperature measurements dsabled tme n seconds Default settng: 300 (5mn) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 51. Temperature reports threshold Ths parameter defnes the change of temperature n comparson wth last reported, resultng n temperature report beng sent to the man controller. Avalable settngs: 0 - temperature reports based on threshold dsabled temperature threshold ( C, 0.1 C step) Default settng: 10 (1 C ) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 52. Interval of temperature reports Ths parameter determnes how often the temperature reports wll be sent to the man controller. Avalable settngs: 0 - perodc temperature reports dsabled tme n seconds Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 53. Temperature offset The value to be added to the actual temperature, measured by the sensor (temperature compensaton). Avalable settngs: ( C, 0.1 C step) Default settng: 0 (0 C ) Parameter sze: 4 [bytes] 54. Temperature alarm reports Temperature alarms reported to the Z-Wave controller. Thresholds are set n parameters 55 and 56. Avalable settngs: 0 - temperature alarms dsabled 1 - hgh temperature alarm 2 - low temperature alarm 3 - hgh and low temperature alarms enabled Default settng: 0 Parameter sze: 1 [byte] 55. Hgh temperature alarm threshold If temperature s hgher than set value, overheat notfcaton wll be sent and hgh temperature scene wll be trggered (f actvated). Avalable settngs: (0-100 C, 0.1 C step) Default settng: 540 (54 ) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] Advanced parameters

17 Low temperature alarm threshold If temperature s lower than the set value, underheat notfcaton wll be sent and low temperature scene wll be trggered (f actvated). Avalable settngs: ( C, 0.1 C step) Default settng: 40 (4 ) Parameter sze: 2 [bytes] 70. Scene actvaton functonalty The devce can trgger scenes usng scene IDs assgned to dfferent events. To deactvate all scenes set the value to 0. Alarm broadcast Settngs for broadcastng ON/OFF commands, sensor alarm and tamper alarm. Value other than 0 means alarms are sent n Broadcast Mode, to all devces only wthn the range of the devce. They are not repeated by the mesh network. Avalable settngs: 0 - broadcasts nactve 1 - ON/OFF commands broadcast actve 2 - sensor alarm broadcast actve 4 - tamper alarm broadcast actve Default settng: 0 (nactve) Parameter sze: 1 [byte]! CAUTION Every actvated scene may shorten the battery lfe. Values of parameter 70 may be combned, e.g. 1+2=3 means scenes for openng and closng are sent. Scenes wth IDs 12 to 15 are actve only f parameter 1 s set to 1. In ths case scenes wth IDs 1 and 2 are sent after a sngle clck. Values of parameter 71 may be combned, e.g. 1+2=3 means ON/OFF commands and sensor alarm are sent n Broadcast Mode. Advanced parameters

Assocatons n Z-Wave network Securty Mode Ths parameter defnes how commands are sent n specfed assocaton groups: as secure or non-secure. Parameter s actve only n Z-Wave network securty mode. It does not apply to 1st group Lfelne. 20 20 #11: Regulatons Ths devce comples wth Part 15 of the FCC Rules Operaton s subject to the followng two condtons: 1. Ths devce may not cause harmful nterference 2. Ths devce must accept any nterference receved, ncludng nterference that may cause undesred operaton. Ths equpment has been tested and found to comply wth the lmts for a Class B dgtal devce, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These lmts are desgned to provde reasonable protecton aganst harmful nterference n a resdental nstallaton. Ths equpment generates, uses and can radate rado frequency energy and, f not nstalled and used n accordance wth the nstructons, may cause harmful nterference to rado communcatons. However, there s no guarantee that nterference wll not occur n a partcular nstallaton. If ths equpment does cause harmful nterference to rado or televson recepton, whch can be determned by turnng the equpment off and on, the user s encouraged to try to correct the nterference by one or more of the followng measures: Reorent or relocate the recevng antenna. Increase the separaton between the equpment and recever. Connect the equpment nto an outlet on a crcut dfferent from that to whch the recever s connected.
