General carbon monoxde nformaton Carbon monoxde (CO) s a colourless, odourless, and tasteless poson gas that can be fatal when nhaled. It s produced when lqud, sold, or gas fuel s burned. Symptoms of carbon monoxde posonng The early symptoms of carbon monoxde posonng can be confused wth flu-lke symptoms: headache, dzzness and nausea. Breathng carbon monoxde causes these symptoms even n healthy people. It can also cause sleepness, vson problems (ncludng blurred vson), rngng n the ears, achng arms and legs, rregular breathng, fatgue and confuson. At very hgh levels, t causes loss of conscousness and death. Some external factors, eg. exposure to hgh concentraton of basc (non-acdc) gases, slcone vapors, hydrogen sulfde or sulfurc acd gas, organc vapors, contact wth water, dust and ol mst, or dew condensaton may affect the relablty of the devce operaton. Ths devce may not protect from long-term exposure to low levels of carbon monoxde whch can also lead to neurologcal symptoms. The devce s not a substtute for approprate ventlaton and exhaust systems. HomeKt technology Apple HomeKt technology provdes an easy, secure way to control HomeKt-enabled accessores usng Sr on your Phone, Pad, or Pod touch. After nstallng your FIBARO CO Sensor, confgure t from a compatble app wth just a few smple steps. You can even create your own custom scenes to control your home settngs. For example, you can create a scene to automatcally turn off the lghts, lock your doors, close the garage door, and set the thermostat to the desred temperature n just one step. Controllng ths HomeKt-enabled accessory requres an Phone, Pad, or Pod touch wth OS 9.3 or later. Controllng ths HomeKt-enabled accessory away from home requres a thrd-generaton Apple TV wth Apple TV software or later or a fourth generaton Apple TV wth tvos 9.2 or later and an Phone, Pad, or Pod touch wth OS 9.3 or later

3 3 #1: Descrpton and features FIBARO CO Sensor s a HomeKt-enabled carbon monoxde detector usng Bluetooth low energy technology. Its hgh senstvty allows to detect the presence of the carbon monoxde (CO) gas at the early stage n order to prevent carbon monoxde posonng. Alarm s sgnalled wth a bult-n sren, blnkng LED ndcator and by sendng nformaton to your OS devce. Addtonally, the accessory s equpped wth a temperature sensor. 4 4 #2: Powerng the accessory 1. Turn the cover counter-clockwse. PULL 1xCR123A(3V) 2. Take off the cover. PULL 1xCR123A(3V) 3. Remove the paper strp protectng the battery. FIBARO CO Sensor may operate as a standalone carbon monoxde detector or may be used n cooperaton wth HomeKt technology as a part of smart home system. PULL 1xCR123A(3V) Beep! 4. Proper powerng up wll be confrmed wth a short beep. 5. Par the accessory f you want to use t wth HomeKt. Powerng the accessory

5 5 #3: Parng the accessory 1. Open the Settngs app on your OS devce. 2. Go to the Bluetooth secton, and turn the Bluetooth on. 3. Place the accessory next to your OS devce. 4. Open a HomeKt compatble app of your choosng on your OS devce. 5. Open parng wndow n your HomeKt app to detect avalable accessores. 6. Choose CO Sensor you wsh to par. 7. You can dentfy t - CO Sensor wll blnk green. 8. Fnd HomeKt Setup Code on the last page of Quck Start Gude ncluded n the box that looks lke ths: XXX-XX-XXX 9. Start parng wth your HomeKt app. 10. Pont your OS devce s camera at the Setup Code to scan t or enter the Setup Code manually. 11. If entered Setup Code s vald, the devce wll complete the setup process. 12. Follow nstructons dsplayed n the applcaton. Remember to keep your HomeKt Setup Code n safe place. You may need t n case of re-parng. Parng the accessory

6 6 #4: Physcal nstallaton READ BEFORE INSTALLATION! AND HEED ALL THE WARNINGS! The accessory should be nstalled below the celng level. The accessory should be nstalled on the wall, at least 30 cm (1 ft) away from the corners. The accessory should not be nstalled: n a bathroom, next to heat sources, wthn range of kds, obstructed from possble carbon monoxde sources, n drect sunlght. The accessory should be nstalled by a qualfed nstallator. Do not pant the accessory. The accessory should be cleaned wth a slghtly damp cloth or mostened tssue. Recommended heght of nstallaton s dependant on the purpose of the room and heght at whch head typcally s. Place of nstallaton: NOT HERE CEILING 30cm/1ft HERE WALL 1.5m/5ft FLOOR Installaton on the wall: Mount the cover on a wall. 2. Attach the accessory to ts cover. 3. Turn the accessory clockwse to close t. Physcal nstallaton

7 7 #5: Operatng the devce Menu allows to perform dfferent actons. In order to use the menu: 1. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds. Button 2. You should hear a short sgnal whle the LED dode blnks whte. 3. Release the button. 4. Wat for the devce to ndcate desred menu poston wth a colour: Whte - confrm the start of the frmware update process Green - send the current state of CO Alarm Magenta - reset the CO peak value Yellow - the devce reset 5. Press the button to confrm selecton. CO Sensor must be detached from the wall and battery level must be greater than 30% of ts full capacty to perform the frmware update process. Resettng the accessory to factory defaults: Reset procedure allows to restore the accessory back to ts factory settngs ncludng HomeKt parng. Stored carbon monoxde and temperature measurement are not deleted. 1. Press and hold the button. 2. Release the button when LED ndcator glows whte and short beep sounds. 3. Clck the button when LED ndcator glows yellow. 4. After few seconds the devce wll be reset (confrmed by red LED ndcator and long beep). Self-test allows to check operaton of the accessory. To start the self-test: 1. Press and hold the button. 2. The LED ndcator wll glow whte and you wll hear a short beep. 3. Release the button when you hear the frst alarm sequence. 4. Move away from the accessory to protect your hearng.! CAUTION The alarm s very loud! Only the frst alarm sequence s queter.! If the self-test procedure does not result n emttng sound and red lght sgnal, replace the accessory. Operatng the devce

8 8 #6: Functonalty Carbon monoxde alarm: The CO Sensor alarms about abnormal levels of carbon monoxde concentraton wth 4 red blnks and 4 loud beeps (every 5 seconds). Alarm s also reported to your OS devce. Carbon monoxde measurng and storng: The CO Sensor measures carbon monoxde concentraton and reports. If measured value dffers from prevously reported by at least 5ppm, accessory reports t to your OS devce. Last 2500 measurements are stored n non-volatle memory of the accessory and can be accessed va FIBARO for HomeKt app. The accessory measures temperature n the place of nstallaton. Remember that temperature near the celng may dffer from that on eye-level or the floor.. Temperature measurng: The CO Sensor measures ambent temperature every 30 seconds. If the measured temperature dffers from prevously reported by at least 0.5 C (0.9 F), accessory reports t to your OS devce. Last 2500 measurements are stored n non-volatle memory of the accessory and can be accessed va FIBARO for HomeKt app. Tamper detecton: The CO Sensor detects tamperng when accessory s removed from ts base and reports t to your OS devce. Tamperng s ndcated wth one whte blnk and beep. Battery level measurng: The CO Sensor measures battery level every 6 hours and reports t to your OS devce. Addtonally, f battery level s below 15%, the accessory wll report low level battery status to your OS devce and ndcate t wth one yellow blnk and beep. Functonalty

10 10 #8: Battery! CAUTION 1. Remove the accessory from the cover by turnng t counterclockwse. Usng batteres other than specfed may result n exploson. Dspose of properly, observng envronmental protecton rules.! CAUTION Use only type of battery specfed n ths manual and keep proper polarty! FIBARO CO Sensor can be powered wth CR123A (ncluded) battery. Estmated battery lfe wth accessory on default settngs s 3 years (tested wth Panasonc Industral Lthum). Checkng battery level: The CO Sensor measures battery level every 6 hours and reports t to your OS devce. Addtonally, f battery level s below 15%, the accessory wll report low level battery status to your OS devce and ndcate t wth one yellow blnk and a short beep. Replacng the battery: 2. Pull the paper strp to take out the battery. 3. Press and hold the button for at least one second. 4. Insert a new CR123A battery observng the polartes shown nsde. 5. Attach the accessory to ts cover by turnng t clockwse and perform the test (as decrbed n #5: Operatng the devce). Battery
