VLAMBAAR Moet nie Mecti naby oop vlamme of hitte hanteer nie. In geval van vergiftiging ontbied n geneesheer en toon hom hierdie etiket. Herbetreding: Moet nie behandelde gebied betree vir 1 dag na bespuiting nie, tensy beskermende oorklere gedra word. Lugtoediening: Stel die inwoners in die onmiddellike gebied wat bespuit gaan word in kennis en reik die nodige waarskuwings uit. Moenie water of aanliggende gebiede bespuit of toelaat dat die sproeinewel dit besoedel nie. Moet nie boorde per lugtoediening spuit nie.

RAADPLEEG DIE VERSKAFFER IN DIE GEVAL VAN ENIGE ONSEKERHEID. VOORSORGMAATREëLS: Vermy kontak met oë, vel en klere. Moet nie eet, drink of rook terwyl gemeng of gespuit word nie. Moet nie sproeinewel inasem nie. Dra n beskermende oorpak en n geskikte gesigmasker vir beskerming teen plaagdoders. Dra rubberhandskoene en gesigmasker wanneer gemeng en gelaai word. Gedurende toediening - dra n oorpak en rubberhandskoene. Was met seep en water na hantering. Trek skoon klere aan en was dan hande en gesig. Was besoedelde klere daagliks. Moet nie fonteine, damme, riviere, eetgerei, voedsel of voer besoedel nie. Vermy die oorwaai van sproeinewel na ander gewasse, weiding, riviere, damme en areas wat nie behandel word nie. Keer die leë houer om oor die spuittenk of mengbak en dreineer vir minstens 30 sekondes nadat die vloei tot n gedrup verminder het. Spoel die houer daarna drie keer uit met n volume water gelykstaande aan n minimum van 10% van die houer. Gooi die spoelwater by die inhoud van die spuittenk voordat die houer op die voorgeskrewe wyse vernietig word. Vernietig leë houer deur vol gate te kap en raak ontslae by wyse van verbranding of deur dit in n grondvulling te begrawe. Moet nooit houer vir enige ander doeleindes hergebruik nie. Maak spuittoerusting deeglik skoon na gebruik. Doen weg met die waswater op n veilige plek. SIMPTOME VAN MENSLIKE VERGIFTIGING: Moontlike tekens of simptome van menslike vergiftiging sal aanvanklik vergroting van die pupille, vertraagde asemhaling en tekens van verdowing wees. Ernstige vergiftiging mag lomerigheid, bewing van spiere en rukkings veroorsaak. NOODHULPBEHANDELING: Verkry mediese hulp in alle gevalle. Verwyder persoon van die oorsaak van vergiftiging en stel hom gerus en hou hom stil. Inaseming: Verwyder die pasiënt na vars lug, weg van die vergiftigingsbron. Dien kunsmatige asemhaling toe of geslote hartmassering, indien nodig. Hou die lugweë oop. Inname: Verkry mediese hulp onmiddellik. Moet nooit iets per mond aan n bewustelose persoon toedien nie, insluitende mond-tot-mond asemhaling. Neem pasiënt onmiddellik na die naaste geneesheer. Velkontak: Verwyder besoedelde klere en was besmette liggaamsdele deeglik met baie seep en water. Moet nie vel hard vryf nie. Oogkontak: Spoel oë vir minstens 15 minute moet genoegsame hoeveelhede water uit.

4 NOTA AAN GENEESHEER: Daar is geen bekende spesifieke teenmiddel vir akute abamektien-vergiftiging nie. In die geval van simptomatiese simptome moet ondersteunende behandeling, wat van die simptomatologie sal afhang, voorsien word ten einde lewensfunksies te onderhou. WEERSTANDSWAARSKUWING: Mecti is n groepkode 6A insekdoder. Enige insekpopulasie sal enkele individue bevat wat weerstand het teen Mecti en ander groepkode 6A insekdoders. Die weerstandbiedende individue sal uiteindelik die insekpopulasie domineer wanneer hierdie insekdoder herhaaldelik gebruik word. Die weerstandbiedende insekte mag dalk nie deur Mecti of ander groepkode 6A insekdoders beheer word nie. Ervare konsultante moet gekontak word oor plaaslike weerstandsbeheer strategieë. Insekdoderklassifikasies is gebaseer op die manier van werking. Insek- en myt weerstand teen insek- en mytdoders kan egter ook ontstaan as gevolg van verhoogde metabolisme, verlaagde penetrasie of gedragsveranderinge. Hierdie verandering is nie gekoppel aan enige site of action klassifikasie nie, maar is spesifiek vir individuele chemikalieë of chemiese groepkodes. Nieteenstaande dit, bly die afwisseling van mengsels met verskillende chemiese klasse steeds n lewensvatbare bestuurstegniek. Om weerstand teen insekdoders te vertraag: Vermy die eksklusiewe herhaaldelike gebruik van insekdoders met dieselfde insekdodergroepkode. Wissel af met, of gebruik tenkmengsels van produkte met verskillende insekdodergroepkodes. Integreer ander beheermaatreëls (chemies, verbouing, biologies) in insekbeheerprogramme. Vir verdere inligting kontak u naaste verspreider. Weerstandbiedendheid Strategie: Weens die inherente risiko van weerstandbiedenheid wat teen enige produk kan ontwikkel, word dit streng aanbeveel dat Mecti in n goeie weerstandbiedendheids-bestuursprogram gebruik word. Dit sluit in die gebruik van produkte met verskillende metodes van werking en bespuitings moet aangewend word wanneer nodig volgens goeie geïntegreerde plaagebeheerprogramme. Moet nie meer as: 3 bespuitings van Mecti per seisoen op katoen, óf 2 bespuitings per seisoen op sitrus, óf 4 bespuitings teen die laagste aanbevole dosis per seisoen op appels en pere, óf 4 bespuitings per groeiseisoen op aarbeie, óf 5 bespuitings per seisoen op tamaties toedien nie. Mecti moet met geskikte spuittoerusting, wat in goeie werkende toestand en korrek gekalibreer is, toegedien word. Deeglike en egalige bedekking van die gewas is n vereiste. Mecti word vinnig deur die plant geabsorbeer en onder normale toestande weerstaan dit afwas, mits die spuitmengsel voldoende tyd gegun word om heeltemal droog te word. Oorbespuiting mag minder doeltreffende beheer teweeg bring weens die afloop van Mecti vanaf die blaaroppervlakte. Mecti kan vir voorkomende en korrektiewe behandelings van spinmyte gebruik word op katoen en tamaties. Spuitneerslae van Mecti het n minimale uitwerking op voordelige natuurlike vyande, insluitende roofmyte, wat die residuele mytbeheer kan verleng. Op appels en pere is Mecti mees geskik vir gebruik in die GPB-program (Geïntegreerde Plaagbeheer). Teen die aanbevole dosis sal sommige spinmyte oorleef, wat sal dien as n voedselbron om die opbou van roofmyte te bevorder. Mecti het getoon dat dit nie die veselgehalte van katoen nadelig beïnvloed nie.

5 GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS: GEBRUIK SLEGS SOOS AANGEDUI Mecti is doeltreffend vir die beheer van volwasse en onvolwasse stadia van myte, sitrus blaaspootjie en larwe stadia van Amerikaanse blaarmyner. Mecti het, algemeen gesproke, n redelike stadige aksie. Alhoewel die spinmyte en blaarmyner kort na blootstelling verlam word, sal tussen 3 en 5 dae nodig wees, afhangende van omgewingstemperature, om maksimum mortaliteit te verkry. Gedurende hierdie periode is voeding deur die plae baie beperk en plantbeskadiging minimaal. VERENIGBAARHEID: Mecti is nog nie in alle tenkmengsels of volgordes van plaagdoderbespuitings getoets nie. Mecti mag met molasse vir lugtoediening op katoen gemeng word. Mecti moet saam met n goedgekeurde ligte minerale spuitolie gemeng word vir toediening op appels en pere. Sien appels en pere onder algemene aanwysings. As tenkmengsels met sintetiese piretroïede op katoen aangewend word, gebruik altyd die laagste aanbevole piretroïed dosis vir weeklikse beskerming. Dit is nie nodig om benattings- /kleefmiddels by die Mecti mengsel te voeg nie. Raadpleeg Plaaskem of hul verspreider vir die jongste inligting. Mecti plus olie is op n wye verskeidenheid appels en pere vir veiligheid getoets. Omdat dit nie in alle kombinasies en volgordes van spuitmengsels volledig geëvalueer is nie, word dit nie aanbeveel om Mecti in tenkmengsels toe te dien nie. Kontak die naaste verspreider vir die nuutste inligting aangaande die mengsels. MENGINSTRUKSIES: Maak die spuittenk halfvol met skoon water. Meet die benodigde hoeveelheid Mecti af en meng dit eers in minstens 10 l water (as enige ander produk met Mecti gemeng word, moet die benodigde volume van daardie produk eers op soortgelyke wyse met water gemeng word bv. ligte mineraal spuitolie). Roer die water in die spuittenk en voeg die voorafgemengde produk(te) by. Vul die spuittenk met water terwyl daar geroer word om deeglike vermenging te verseker. Roer tydens toediening. Gebruik die voorbereide mengsel dadelik. Moet nie oornag laat staan nie. Mecti kan met water gemeng word waarvan die ph-waardes en hardheid wissel tussen waardes wat normaalweg onder landboutoestande gevind word. LUGTOEDIENING: Lugtoediening van hierdie produk mag slegs deur n geregistreerde lugbespuitingsoperateur toegedien word, met n korrek gekalibreerde, geregistreerde vliegtuig, volgens die instruksies van SANS Kode (Lugtoediening van Landboumiddels). Dit is belangrik dat die spuitstof egalig oor die teikengebied versprei word en die verlies aan spuitmiddel tydens toediening tot n minimum beperk word. Ten einde hieraan te voldoen, moet die volgende vereistes nagekom word. Toerusting: Gebruik geskikte atomiseer toerusting (hidroliese spuitneuse of rotasie atomiseerders) wat geskikte druppelgrootte en bedekking sal produseer en terselfdertyd die minimum verlies van die spuitmiddel deur of endodrift (binne teiken gebied) of exodrift (buite teiken gebied) sal waarborg. Die spuitoperateur moet toerusting gebruik wat n druppelspektrum met die laagste moontlike relatiewe span sal produseer. Alle spuitneuse / atomiseerders moet binne die % van die vliegtuig se vlerkspan geplaas wees sodat druppels nie in die maalstroom van die vlerkpunt beland nie. Toedieningsparameters: n Minimum spuitvolume van 30 l / ha word aanbeveel. Omdat hierdie produk nie teen n verlaagde dosis geevalueer is nie, kan die registrasiehouer nie effektiwiteit waarborg, of verantwoordelik gehou word vir enige ongustige toestande indien hierdie produk teen n laer dosis, as aanbeveel hierbo, per lug toegedien word nie. n Druppelverspreiding van druppels / cm 2 moet op die teikengebied herwin word. n Druppelspektrum met n VMD van mikron word aanbeveel. Verseker dat die produksie van fyn druppels (minder as 150 mikron hoë dryf en verdamping potensiaal) tot n minimum beperk word. Die hoogte van die spuitstukke moet teen n hoogte van 3 4 meters bo die teiken area gehandhaaf word. Moenie spuit wanneer die vliegtuig besig is om te klim, tydens toppunt, gedurende n duik of tydens landing.

6 Meteorologiese toestande: Die verskil tussen die nat- en droëbollesing, soos met n swaaihigrometer bepaal, moet nie 8 C oorskry nie. Die byvoeging van n geskikte anti-verdampingsmiddel word aanbeveel indien die VMD van die druppelspektrum minder as mikron is. Staak toediening as die windsnelheid meer as 15km / h is. Lugtoediening van hierdie produk moet nie tydens onstuimige, onstabiele toestande gedurende die hitte van die dag, wanneer stygende temperature en valstrome voorkom, toegedien word nie. Neem kennis dat lugtoediening van hierdie produk onder temperatuurinversietoestande (bespuiting tydens of bo die inversielaag) aanleiding kan gee tot die volgende: Verlaagde effektiwiteit as gevolg van die suspensie en verdamping van klein druppels in die lug (onvoldoende bedekking). Skade aan ander sensitiewe gewasse en / of nie teiken gebiede deur die beweging van die suspensie spuitdampe weg vanaf die teikengebied. ALGEMENE AANWYSINGS: KATOEN: Grondtoediening: Wend aan in tot soveel as 200 l water/ha afhangende van die plantgrootte en die spuittoerusting wat gebruik word. Tremlyn -toediening: Dien, afhangend van die plantgrootte, l van die spuitmengsel/ha toe, net op droëland katoen wat in tremlyne geplant is. Plaas ten minste 5 holkeël spuitkoppe van gepaste grootte oor die tremlyne. Een spuitkop moet direk oor die top van elke ry spuit. Een spuitkop moet tussen die twee rye spuit en twee spuitkoppe moet so geplaas word dat hulle 45 grade opwaarts wys, opgestel op valarms aan die buitekant van elk van die twee rye. TAMATIES: Gebruik n fyn sproei teen hoë druk en dien slegs toe tot die punt van afloop. APPELS EN PERE: Dien toe as n hoë volume, hoë druk dekbespuiting tot die punt van afloop. Voeg 0.25% by volume van n ligte mineraal spuitolie in die finale (verdunde) spuitmengsel. n Deeglike bedekking is van uiterste belang. Daar word aanbeveel dat kaptan of swael spuitstowwe nie binne 14 dae vóór óf na n toediening van olie gebruik word, aangesien die olie kolvlekke op die vrugte en blare mag veroorsaak. AARBEIE: Dien toe as n hoë volume, hoë druk dekbespuiting. Deeglike bedekking van beide die bokant en onderkant van blare is noodsaaklik om spinmyte te beheer SITRUS: Aangesien Mecti die mees effektiefste is wanneer dit ingeneem word sal maksimum effektiwiteit eers waargeneem word twee tot drie dae na toediening. Mecti moet vir dié rede nie gebruik word vir die beheer van groot getalle sitrus blaaspootjies nie (meer as 40% vrugtebesmetting) waar n uitkloptoediening benodig word.

7 TOEDIENINGSTABEL: GEWAS /PLAAG KATOEN Rooispinmyt TAMATIES Rooispinmyt Amerikaanse blaarmyner (Liriomyza trifolii) APPELS EN PERE Rooispinmyt Europese rooimyt (Panonychus ulmi) DOSIS ml/ha 300 ml /100 l water 3-6 ml /100m ry. 60 ml /100 l water ( ml/ha) 35 ml ml ligte minerale spuitolie /100 l water ( ml/ha + 0,25% spuitolie) TOEDIENINGSVOORSKRIFTE Kan as n voorkomende en/of korrektiewe beheermaatreël gebruik word. Verseker deeglike plantbedekking. Herhaal toediening wanneer nodig om die mytbevolking onder die ekonomiese drempelwaarde te handhaaf. Grondtoediening: Dien in l water/ha toe. Moet nie minder as 300 ml Mecti toedien nie. Tremlyn-toediening: Dien l/ha van die spuitstofmengsel toe op droëland katoen, afhangend van die plantgrootte. (Moet nie minder as 3 ml per 100 m ry gebruik nie). Lugtoediening: Dien in 30 l water/ha toe. Moet nie minder as 300 ml Mecti/ha toedien nie. Voorkomende Beheermaatreëls: Dien 300 ml/ha toe wanneer die spinmyt-bevolkingsindeks n skielike toename van een week tot die volgende toon maar voordat die ekonomiese drempelwaarde bereik is. (Sien Verkenningstegnieke ). Korrektiewe Beheermaatreëls: Dien toe teen 600 ml/ha wanneer die ekonomiese drempelwaarde van die spinmytbevolking vir n gegewe groeistadium van die gewas, gebaseer op verkenningsresultate, bereik óf oorskry is. Noodbeheermaatreëls: Gebruik teen 600 ml/ha tydens hewige mytbesmettings en wanneer klimaatstoestande vinnig vermeerdering van mytbevolking kan bevorder (baie warm en droë dae). Nota: Die toediening teen 600 ml/ha kort vóór die gewas geoes word mag die normale ontblaring van die gewas, wat deur die myte veroorsaak word, vertraag. Dien toe as n hoë volume, hoë druk voldekbespuiting tot die punt van afloop. Gebruik tot 2000 l spuitmengsel per ha. Wanneer jong plante bespuit word, gebruik n minimum van 300 ml Mecti in nie minder as 500 l spuitmengsel / ha nie en spuit tot die punt van afloop. Moet nooit ml van die konsentraat per ha oorskry nie. Nota: 1. Vir Spinmyte herhaal toediening wanneer nodig. 2. Vir Amerikaanse blaarmyner herhaal toediening elke 7 dae óf wanneer nodig om beheer te handhaaf. Dien Mecti toe wanneer die rooispinmyt populasie die ekonomiese drempelwaarde bereik en herhaal wanneer nodig. Dien toe as n hoë volume ( l/ha) hoë druk dekbespuiting tot by afloop. Indien minder as 2150 l/ha toegedien word, gebruik n minimum van 750 ml Mecti plus 0,25% spuitolie in voldoende water om deeglike bedekking te verkry. Moet nooit meer as ml/ha per bespuiting toedien nie óf meer as 3000 ml Mecti/ha in een groeiseisoen toedien nie. Appels: Dien toe alleen op boorde waar die GPB program nie doeltreffende beheer van spinmyte handhaaf nie.

8 TOEDIENINGSTABEL (vervolg): GEWAS /PLAAG AARBEIE Rooispinmyt SITRUS Sitrus blaaspootjie (Scirtothrips aurantii) DOSIS TOEDIENINGSVOORSKRIFTE ml/ha Dien n hoë volume, hoë druk voldekbespuiting toe wanneer die eerste tekens van besmetting verskyn. Dien aanvanklik 2 bespuitings toe met n tussenpose van 7-10 dae en herhaal indien nodig. Gebruik n minimum van 500 l water/ha. Deeglike bedekking van die hele plantoppervlakte is noodsaaklik. Moet nooit meer as 4800 ml Mecti per ha per groeiseisoen toedien nie ml ml ligte of medium graad noue distilasie reeks minerale spuitolie /100 l water Mecti moet toegedien word sodra blaaspootjiegetalle begin toeneem. Dien toe as n ligte deklaag maar vermy afloop. Herhaal toediening indien nodig. Moenie meer as twee agtereenvolgende toedienings aanwend nie met n maksimum van drie toedienings per seisoen. Mecti behoort afgewissel te word met ander blaaspootjiemiddels om weerstand te voorkom. Moet nie toedien indien meer as 40% vrugte besmet is nie. Toedienings sal Laeveld- en Rooimyt onderdruk. NOTA OP ROOISPINMYT VERKENNINGSTEGNIEKE OP KATOEN Verken 48 katoenplante ewekansig in lande tot 15 ha groot elke week vanaf drie weke na opkoms tot bolbars (± week 20). Monster 3 blare per plant - 2 blare van die boonste gedeelte en 1 van die middel. Teken die aantal volwasse spinmyte aan wat op die monster getel word. Bepaal die spinmyt bevolkingsindeks per plant soos volg: Totale aantal wyfies/3blare/plant Spinmyt bevolkingsindeks tot tot Bereken die gemiddelde indekswaarde per land (tel die 48 afsonderlike indekswaardes bymekaar en deel die som deur 48). Dien Mecti toe soos voorgeskryf afhangende van die verkenningsresultate vir n gegewe groeistadium van die gewas. Ekonomiese Drempelwaardes vir Katoen Weke na opkoms Spinmyt bevolkingsindeks 0,5 0,8 1,1 1,4 1,7 2,0 Ekonomiese Drempelwaardes vir Pere en Appels Pere: 1 wyfie/blaar dwarsdeur die seisoen. Appels: 2 wyfies/blaar tot einde Maart en 1 wyfie/blaar daarna.

CONSULT THE SUPPLIER IN THE EVENT OF ANY UNCERTAINTY. PRECAUTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying. Do not inhale spray mist. Wear protective clothing and appropriate face shield for protection against insecticides. Wear rubber gloves and goggles/face mask when mixing and loading. During spraying wear overalls and rubber gloves Wash with soap and water after handling. Change clothing and then wash hands and face. Wash contaminated clothing daily. Do not contaminate springs, dams, rivers, eating utensils, food and feedstuffs. Prevent drift onto other crops, grazing areas, rivers, dams or areas not under treatment. Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow it to drain for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10% of that of the container. Add the rinsings to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Destroy the empty container by perforation and dispose by incineration or burying in a landfill. Never re-use container for any other purpose. Clean spray equipment thoroughly after usage. Dispose of wash water in a safe place. SYMPTOMS OF HUMAN POISONING: Possible signs or symptoms of human poisoning initially would be dilation of the pupils, slow breathing and sedation. More severe poisoning may cause lethargy, muscle tremors and convulsions. FIRST AID TREATMENT: Get medical attention in all cases. Remove patient to a well-ventilated area away from source of poisoning. Keep the patient quiet and reassure him at all times. Inhalation: Remove patient to a well ventilated area away from source of poisoning. Give artificial respiration or closed chest cardiac massage if necessary. Maintain open airway passages. Ingestion: Obtain medical help immediately. Do not induce vomiting or give anything by mouth, including direct mouth to mouth resuscitation, to an unconscious person. Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and wash contaminated body area with plenty of soap and water. Do not rub skin hard. Eye contact: Flush thoroughly with clean water for at least 15 minutes. NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: There is no known specific antidote for Mecti acute toxicity. In case of symptomatic effects, provide supportive treatment depending on symptomatology to maintain life functions.

11 RESISTANCE WARNING: For resistance management, Mecti is a group code 6A insecticide. Any insect population may contain individuals naturally resistant to Mecti and other group code 6A insecticides. The resistant individuals will eventually dominate the insect population if these insecticides are used repeatedly. These resistant insects may not be controlled by Mecti or other group code 6A insecticides. Local experts should be consulted for local resistance recommendations. The insecticide classification scheme is based on the mode of action. It is recognized that resistance of insects and mites to insecticides and acaricides can also result from enhanced metabolism, reduced penetration or behavioral changes that are not linked to any site of action classification but are specific for individual chemicals or chemical groupings. Despite of this, alternation of compounds from different chemical classes remains a viable management technique. To delay insecticide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of insecticides from the same insecticide group code. Alternate or tank mix with products from different insecticide group codes. Integrate other control methods (chemical, cultural, biological) into insect control programmes. For further information contact your local distributor. Resistance management: Due to the inherent risk of resistance development to any product, it is strongly recommend that Mecti be used in a sound resistance management programme that includes the use of products with different modes of action, while applications should be made, only when necessary, based on sound integrated pest management programmes. Do not apply more than: 3 sprays of Mecti per season on cotton, or 2 sprays per season on citrus, or 4 sprays of the lowest rate recommended per season on apples and pears, or 4 sprays per growing season on strawberries, or 5 sprays per season on tomatoes. Mecti must be applied using suitable spray equipment that is in good working order and correctly calibrated. Thorough and even coverage of the crop is essential. Mecti is rapidly absorbed into the plant and under normal conditions resists wash-off provided the spray mixture has been given adequate time to dry off completely. Over-spraying may result in less effective control by causing run-off of Mecti from the leaf surface. Mecti can be used for preventive and corrective treatments for spider mite control on cotton and tomatoes. Spray residues of Mecti have a minimum effect on beneficial natural enemies, including predatory mites, which could extend the residual mite control. On apples and pears Mecti is most suited for use in the IPM programme. At the recommended dose rate some spider mites will survive which will serve as a food source to encourage build-up of predatory mites. Mecti has been shown not to have a detrimental effect on lint quality.

12 DIRECTIONS FOR USE: USE ONLY AS DIRECTED Mecti is effective for the control of adults and immature stages of spider mite, citrus thrips and larval stages of American leafminer. Mecti is, in general, slow-acting and although mites and leafminer become immobilized soon after exposure, between 3 and 5 days, depending on ambient temperatures, may be required to achieve maximum mortality. During this period feeding by the pests is very limited and plant damage is minimal. COMPATIBILITY: Mecti has not been tested in all tank mixtures or sequence of pesticide sprays. Mecti may be mixed with molasses for aerial application on cotton. Mecti must be mixed with an approved light mineral spray oil on apples and pears. See apples and pears under general directions. If tank mixtures with synthetic pyrethroids are applied on cotton, use the lowest recommended pyrethroid dose for weekly protection. Mecti does not require the addition of surfactants/aduvants to the spray mixture. Consult Plaaskem or their distributors for up-to-date information. Mecti plus oil has been tested for safety on a wide variety of apples and pears. Since not all combinations and sequences of sprays used, have been fully evaluated, it is recommended not to tank mix with Mecti. Consult your local distributor for the latest information on the different tank mixtures. MIXING INSTRUCTIONS: Half fill spray tank with clean water. Measure out the required quantity of Mecti and premix this with at least 10 l water. (If any other product e.g. light mineral spray oil is to be mixed with Mecti, the required volume of that product must be premixed in similar fashion). Agitate the water in the spray tank and add the premixed product(s) to the tank. Fill the spray tank with water while maintaining agitation to ensure thorough mixing. Maintain agitation during spraying. Use the prepared mixture immediately. Do not allow to stand overnight. Mecti can be mixed with water with different ph - and hardness values, which are normally encountered in agricultural conditions. AERIAL APPLICATION: Aerial application of this product may only be done by a registered aerial application operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Remedies). It is important to ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefore essential that the following criteria are met: Equipment: Use suitable atomising equipment (hydraulic nozzles or rotary atomisers) that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product either through endodrift (within target field) or exodrift (outside target field). The operator must use a setup that will produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible relative span. All nozzles / atomisers should be positioned within the inner 60% to 75% of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. Application parameters: A minimum volume of 30 l per hectare is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. A droplet coverage of droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target. A droplet spectrum with a VMD of microns is recommended. Ensure that the production of fine droplets (less than 150 microns high drift & evaporation potential) is restricted to a minimum. The height of the spray boom should be maintained at 3-4 meters above the target. Do not spray when aircraft is in a climb, at the top or during a dive, or when banking. Meteorological conditions: The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. The addition of a suitable anti-evaporant is recommended if the VMD of the droplets is less than microns.

13 Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Aerial application of this product must not be done under turbulent, unstable conditions during the heat of the day when rising thermals and downdraughts occur. Also note that the application of this product under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) may lead to the following: Reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air (inadequate coverage) Damage to other sensitive crops and or non-target areas through the movement of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. GENERAL DIRECTIONS: COTTON: Ground application: Apply in up to 200 l water/ha depending on plant size and spray equipment used. Tramline application: Apply only to dryland cotton planted in tramlines : using l of spray mixture/ha depending on plant size. Position at least 5 hollow-cone nozzles of suitable size over the tramlines. One nozzle must spray over the top of each row. One nuzzle must spray between the two rows and two nozzles should be positioned to point 45 degrees upwards, mounted on drop-arms on the outside of each of the two rows. TOMATOES: Use a fine spray at high pressure and only apply to point of incipient run-off. APPLES AND PEARS: Apply as a high volume, high pressure cover spray to point of incipient run-off. Add 0.25% by volume of a light mineral spray oil in the diluted spray mixture. Thorough coverage is essential. It is recommended not to apply captan or sulphur sprays 14 days prior to or after an application of oil as the oil may cause spotting on the fruit and leaves. STRAWBERRIES: Apply as a high volume, high pressure cover spray. Thorough coverage of both the tops and underside of leaves is essential to control spider mites. CITRUS: As Mecti is most effective when ingested, maximum efficacy may only occur two to three days after treatment. For this reason, Mecti should not be used for the control of high numbers of citrus thrips (more than 40 % fruit infestation) where a knock-down treatment is required.

Do not apply less than 300 ml Mecti / ha Preventative Control Measure: Apply Mecti at 300 ml/ha when the spider mite population index shows a sudden increase from one week to the next, but before the economic threshold level is reached for a given growth stage of the crop based on weekly scouting results. See Scouting Techniques and Economic Threshold Levels below. Corretive Control Measure: Apply Mecti at 600 ml/ha when the economic threshold of the spider mite population has been reached or exceeded for a given stage of the crops based on weekly scouting results. Emergency Control Measure: Apply Mecti at 600 ml/ha under conditions of very severe mite infestations and when climatic conditions favour the rapid increase of mite populations (very hot and dry weather). Note: The application of Mecti at 600 ml/ha near harvest may delay the normal plant defoliation caused by mites Apply Mecti at first signs of infestations as a high volume, high pressure, full cover spray to point of run-off using up to 2000 l spray mixture per hectare. If less than 500 l of spray mixture is applied (i.e. when spraying young plants) a minimum of 300 ml of Mecti per hectare must be applied in sufficient water to provide a full cover spray. Never exceed 1200 ml of Mecti per hectare. Ensure that all foliage surfaces are thoroughly wetted by the spray to point of run-off. Note: 1. Spider mites: Repeat application as necessary. 2. American leafminer: Repeat application after 7 days or as needed to maintain control. Apply Mecti when the red spider mite population reaches the economic threshold level see end of label. Repeat when necessary. Apply as a high volume (2 150 l l/ha) high pressure full cover spray, but avoid run-off. If less than l spray mixture per hectare is applied i.e. low volume, use a minimum of 750 ml Mecti plus 0.25% spray oil per hectare in sufficient water to obtain thorough coverage. Never exceed ml Mecti per hectare per application or ml Mecti per hectare in one growing season. Apples: Apply only to orchards where the IPM programme is not maintaining effective control of mites.

NOTE ON RED SPIDER MITE SCOUTING TECHNIQUES FOR COTTON: Inspect 48 cotton plants at random in fields up to 15 ha in extent, every week from the third week after germination until first boll split (± week 20). Sample 3 leaves from each plant 2 leaves from the top and 1 leaf from the middle and note the total number of adult female mites present on the sampled leaves. Determine the spider mite population index per plant as follows: Total number of female mites/3 leaves/plant Mite Population plant Index to to Calculate the average index value per field by adding the 48 individual index values and dividing by 48. Apply Mecti as recommended depending on scouting results for a given growth stage of the cotton crop. (See Economic Threshold Levels below).
