COTTON : Synthetic pyrethroids must ONLY be applied to cotton during the period 1 January to 28 February. ALL OTHER CROPS : DO NOT apply more than two applications per growing season. If a pyrethroid gives poor performance. DO NOT respray with any synthetic pyrethroid, even at a corrective dosage rate. Use a product from a different chemical group. Handle with care. Poisonous when swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Extremely toxic to fish and bees. FLAMMABLE -Do not store near open flame. Store away from food and feeds and out of reach of children, animals and uninformed persons. AERIAL APPLICATION: Notify all inhabitants of the immediate area to be sprayed and issue the necessary warnings. Do not spray over or allow drift to contaminate water or adjacent areas. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal climatic and storage conditions; quality of dilution water; compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the pest against the remedy concerned as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. The registration holder furthermore does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier or registration holder in the event of any uncertainty. 2

3 PRECAUTIONS Avoid inhalation of spray mist, oral intake and skin contact. In case of skin contact wash with soap and water. Wear protective clothing during application. Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying or preparing the spray mix, or before washing face and hands. Prevent spray drift onto other crops, grazing, rivers and dams. Prevent contamination of food, feeds, drinking water and eating utensils. RINSING OF CONTAINER : Invert the empty container over the spray or mixing tank and allow to drain for at least 30 seconds after the flow has slowed down to a drip. Thereafter rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to a minimum of 10% of that of the container. Add the rinsings to the contents of the spray tank before destroying the container in the prescribed manner. Destroy empty container by perforation and flattening and never use for any other purpose. DIRECTIONS FOR USE : USE ONLY AS DIRECTED AERIAL APPLICATION Aerial application of FENVALERATE 200 EC may only be done by a registered aerial application operator using a registered and correctly calibrated aircraft according to the instructions of SANS Code (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides). Ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefore essential that the following criteria be met; Volume: A spray mixture volume of 30 l per hectare is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. Droplet coverage: 30 to 40 droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target area. Droplet size: A droplet spectrum with a VMD of 250 to 280 microns is recommended. Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum. Flying height: Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 metres above the target. Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking. Use suitable atomizing equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product. The spraying system must produce a droplet spectrum with the lowest possible Relative Span. Position all the atomizers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day. Spraying under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following: - reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air (inadequate coverage), 3

4 - damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the Aerial Spray Operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference. GENERAL: To obtain better emulsion stability it is recommended to first mix the concentrate with a small amount of water (one part to five parts of water) before adding the rest of the water. COMPATIBILITY: Can be used in combination with most insecticides and miticides normally used for sucking insects and mite control. DOSAGE RATES CROP AND PEST DOSAGE METHOD AND TIME OF APPLICATION POTATOES Potato tuber moth Low volume application 100 m/100 water (250 to 400 m/ha) Low volume application Commence application as soon as plants are one month old or sooner in case of early infestation. Use 250 to 400 of spray mixture/ha. The dosage rate will also control American bollworm and cutworm (in Western Cape) and will suppress aphids. Repeat application every 14 days. Volume of spray mixture to be applied depends on plant size. Plants should be ridged at least twice during the growing season. Aerial application 375 m/ha Aerial application Commence application as soon as plants are one month old or sooner in case of early infestation. Apply in at least 30 of. This dosage will also control American bollworm and suppress aphids. Plants should be ridged at least twice during the growing season. 4

Scout fields at 7 day intervals from the time of ear emergence using a sample of 25 plants/15 ha. Commence treatment when 10 % of the ears have a mean of one or more larvae. Where cultivars with tight ears are encountered, it is preferable to spray before the ears close up. (Before the grain fill out completely). High volume full cover application Apply as a full cover high volume double application. Apply during winter prior to flowering. Repeat when fruit is approximately 15 mm in diameter. NOTE: Under conditions of high infestation complete control may not be obtained. 5

Commence application as soon as eggs or larvae are noticed. Repeat application at 7 to 10 day intervals. Ensure thorough coverage of leaves as well as stems and the soil in the immediate contact with the stems. Monitor vineyards regularly for the presence of beetles. Apply the first spray at the first sign of beetle activity. Repeat 3 to 4 weeks later. Scout fields when flowering, using a sample size of 25 plants/ha. Commence treatment when 10% of the plants are infested with an average of 1 to 2 larvae. Scouting after application and after rain is still necessary. If rain falls shortly after application, wait 3 days, rescout and respray if necessary. 6

Application can be done at planting as a preventative measure or can be applied as a corrective measure after planting as soon as infestation is noticed. MAIZE Stalkborer (Busseola fusca) Ground application 4 m/3 water/ 100 m row Ground application Direct spray into the funnel. Apply as a preventative treatment against young larvae 7 to 10 days after eggs are found on not more that 5% of the plants. A second application 10 to 14 days after the first may be necessary. Corrective treatment Apply in 3 of water, when 10% of plants show "shothole" damage. Larvae should not exceed 10 mm in length. Apply prior to the larvae entering the stalk. Only apply to actively growing plants up to the stage before the tassels are enclosed by the flag leaf. 7

8 CROP AND PEST DOSAGE METHOD AND TIME OF APPLICATION COTTON American, Red and Spiny bollworm, Plusia Looper, Stainers See "Warning against resistance" under WARNINGS. In order to comply with the principles of pest management and integrated control measures, FENVALERATE 200 EC is recommended to be used commencing at flowering, until boll split, i.e. approximately 10 to 22 weeks after plant emergence. During the period up to flowering, *AVI-SULFAN EC (Reg. No. L1085) is recommended for use against American bollworm or *KARBASPRAY 850 WP (Reg. No. L1195) for Red bollworm and stainers. For the first 12 weeks After 12 weeks It is recommended that FENVALERATE 200 EC be applied according to weekly scouting figures once the following threshold level has been reached: 5 American bollworm larvae or 2 Red bollworm larvae per 2 plants per 15 hectare; or 2 Spiny bollworm larvae or 6 Red bollworm eggs per 24 plants per 15 hectare. 5 Larvae of total bollworm complex per 24 plants per 15 hectare. Ensure adequate penetration of spray mixture is obtained to achieve optimum results particularly in tall dense plant populations. As 'n piretroïedbespuiting swak beheer gee MOET NIE met enige sintetiese piretroïed, selfs teen 'n korrektiewe dosis, herspuit nie. Gebruik 'n produk uit 'n ander chemiegroep. Hanteer versigtig. Giftig deur inname, inaseming of wanneer deur die vel geabsorbeer. Uiters giftig vir visse en bye. VLAMBAAR -Moenie naby oop vlamme stoor nie. Bêre weg van voedsel en voer en hou buite bereik van kinders, diere en oningeligte pesone. LUGTOEDIENING: Stel alle inwoners in die nabye omgewing van die lugbespuitingsarea in kennis en reik die nodige waarskuwings uit. Voorkom besoedeling en wegdrywe van spuitnewel na water of aangrensende gewasse en gebiede. Alhoewel hierdie middel omvattend onder 'n groot verskeidenheid toestande getoets is, waarborg die registrasiehouer nie dat dit onder alle toestande doeltreffend sal wees nie aangesien die werking en effek daarvan beïnvloed kan word deur faktore soos abnormale klimaats- en bergingstoestande; kwaliteit van verdunningswater; verenigbaarheid met ander stowwe wat nie op die etiket aangedui is nie en die voorkoms van weerstand van die plaag teen die betrokke middel sowel as die metode, tyd en akkuraatheid van toediening. Verder aanvaar die registrasiehouer nie verantwoordelikheid vir skade aan gewasse, plantegroei, die omgewing of vir nadelige effek op mens en dier of vir 'n gebrek aan prestasie van die betrokke middel as gevolg van die versuim deur die gebruiker om etiketaanwysings na te kom of as gevolg van die ontstaan van toestande wat nie kragtens die registrasie voorsien kon word nie. Raadpleeg die verskaffer of registrasiehouer in geval van enige onsekerheid. 10

11 VOORSORGMAATREËLS Voorkom inaseming van spuitnewel asook velkontak en inname deur die mond. Dra beskermende klere gedurende toediening. In geval van velkontak was met seep en water. Moenie eet, drink of rook tydens toediening of voorbereiding nie, of voordat gesig en hande gewas is nie. Voorkom oorwaai van spuitnewel na ander gewasse, weiding, damme en riviere. Voorkom besoedeling van voedsel, voer, drinkwater en eetgerei. UITSPOEL VAN HOUER : Keer die leë houer om oor die spuittenk of mengbak en dreineer vir minstens 30 sekondes nadat die vloei tot 'n gedrup verminder het. Spoel die houer daarna drie keer uit met 'n volume water gelykstaande aan 'n minimum van 10 % van die houer. Gooi die spoelwater by die inhoud van die spuittenk voordat die houer op die voorgeskrewe wyse vernietig word. Vernietig leë houer deur gate daarin te maak en plat te druk. Moet vir geen ander doel gebruik word nie. GEBRUIKSAANWYSINGS: GEBRUIK SLEGS SOOS AANGEDUI LUGTOEDIENING FENVALERATE 200 EC kan slegs deur n geregistreerde Lugbespuitingsoperateur met n korrek gekalibreerde, geregistreerde vliegtuig volgens die instruksies van SANS Kode (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides) uit die lug bespuit word. Verseker dat die spuitmengsel eweredig oor die teikenarea versprei word, en die verlies aan spuitmengsel tydens toediening tot n minimum beperk word. Dit is daarom belangrik om aan die volgende vereistes te voldoen: Volume: 'n Spuitmengsel volume van 30 liter per hektaar word aanbeveel. Hierdie produk is nie teen 'n verlaagde volume getoets nie. Die registrasiehouer kan nie effektiwiteit waarborg, of verantwoordelik gehou word vir enige nadelige effekte indien hierdie produk teen 'n laer volume, as hierbo aanbeveel, toegedien word nie. Druppelbedekking: 30 tot 40 druppels per cm² moet op die teikenarea herwin word. Druppelgrootte: 'n Druppelspektrum met 'n VMD van 250 tot 280 mikrons word aanbeveel. Beperk die produksie van druppels kleiner as 150 mikrons (hoë drywing en verdampingspotensiaal) tot 'n minimum. Vlieghoogte: Handhaaf die hoogte van die spuitbalk bo die teiken op 3 tot 4 meter. Moet nie spuit wanneer die vliegtuig duik, uitklim of draai nie. Gebruik geskikte atomiseringsapparaat wat die vereiste druppelgrootte en bedekking sal produseer, maar die minste verlies van produk verseker. Die spuitstelsel moet n druppelspektrum met die kleinste moontlike Relatiewe Span produseer. Plaas al die atomiseerders in die binneste 60 tot 75 % van die vlerkspan om te verhoed dat druppels binne-in die vlerkpuntvorteks beweeg. Die verskil in temperatuur tussen die nat- en droëboltermometer van 'n swaaihigrometer, moet nie 8 C oorskry nie. Stop bespuiting indien die windspoed 15 km/h oorskry. Stop bespuiting tydens turbulente, onstabiele en droë toestande gedurende die hitte van die dag. Bespuiting onder temperatuur inversie toestande (deur bo of binne die inversie laag te spuit) en/of hoë lugvog toestande (relatiewe humiditeit 80 % en meer) mag tot volgende probleme aanleiding gee: 11

12 - verlaagde effektiwiteit aangesien die druppels as 'n wolk in die lug bly hang en moontlik verdamp (onvoldoende bedekking op teiken), - skade aan nie-teiken gewasse of sensitiewe areas as gevolg van wegdrywing van die spuitwolk na nie-teiken area. Verseker dat die Lugbespuitingsoperateur presies weet watter lande bespuit moet word. Dit is noodsaaklik om 'n versekering van die Lugbespuitingsoperateur te verkry dat aan al die bogenoemde vereistes voldoen sal word en dat data van belang in n logboek saamgevat is vir toekomstige verwysing. ALGEMEEN: Vir verbeterde emulsiestabiliteit word aanbeveel dat die konsentraat eers met 'n klein hoeveelheid water gemeng word (1 deel op 5 dele water) voordat die res van die water bygevoeg word. VERENIGBAARHEID: Verenigbaar met die meeste insek- en mytdoders wat normaalweg teen suigende insekte en myte gebruik word. DOSISSE GEWAS EN PLAAG DOSIS METODE EN TYD VAN TOEDIENING AARTAPPELS Aartappelmot Lae volume toediening 100 m/100 water (250 tot 400 m/ha) Lae volume toediening Begin toediening sodra plante een maand oud is of vroeër indien besmetting voorkom. Dien 250 tot 400 spuitmengsel per hektaar toe. Die dosis sal ook Amerikaanse bolwurm en snywurm (in Wes-Kaap) beheer. Sal plantluise onderdruk. Herhaal toediening elke 14 dae. Die hoeveelheid spuitmengsel hang af van plantgrootte. Plante moet minstens twee keer gedurende die groeiseisoen opge-erd word. 12

Lae volume toediening Gebruik 400 tot 800. Begin toedien by 75 % blomblaarval. Herhaal elke 14 dae. Sal ook Amerikaanse bolwurm en bladrollers beheer. Hoë volume toediening alleenlik Gebruik tot spuitmengsel/ ha. Dien 2 tot 3 volle dekbespuitings toe. Die eerste by 75 % blomblaarval en die tweede vier weke later. Indien nodig kan 'n derde toediening teen middel Januarie gemaak word. Hierdie bespuiting sal ook kodlingmot, bladrollers en Amerikaanse bolwurm beheer. 13

'n Monstergrootte van 25 plante per 15 ha word aanbeveel. Begin spuit wanneer 10 % van die are (gemiddeld met een of meer larwes) besmet is.gebruik in minstens 30 sodra besmetting opgemerk word. In geval van kultivars met digte stywe are is dit wenslik om te spuit voordat die are toemaak (voordat korrels heeltemal uitgevul het). MANGO'S Mango snuitkewer SONNEBLOM Amerikaanse bolwurm Hoë volume volle dekbespuiting 30 m/100 water Lugtoediening 150 m/ha of 100 m m Methomyl 200 g// ha. Methomyl 200 SL (Reg nr. L3480) Hoë volume volle dekbespuiting Dien toe as 'n hoë volume volle dekbespuiting. Eerste toediening tydens winter voor die bome blom. Herhaal wanneer die vrugte ongeveer 15 mm in deursnee is. LET WEL: As die besmettingsdruk baie hoog is, is dit onwaarskynlik dat die beheer baie goed sal wees. Lugtoediening Begin toediening sodra eiers of larwes op plante waargeneem word (+ 6 weke na plant). Gebruik in minstens 30. Slegs effektief teen larwes op die blare en aan die buitekant van koppe. Dit word aanbeveel dat FENVALERATE 200 EC toegedien word aan die hand van weeklikse verkennings, sodra die volgende drumpelwaardes bereik word: 5 Amerikaanse bolwurmlarwes of 2 rooibol-wurmlarwes per 24 plante per 15 hektaar; of 2 stekelbolwurmlarwes of 6 rooibolwurmeiers per 24 plante per 15 hektaar. 5 Larwes van totale bolwurmkompleks per 24 plante per 15 hektaar. Verseker deeglike penetrasie van die spuitmengsel vir optimale beheer. Dit is veral belangrik as die plante baie dig groei.
