2 Task 1 Planning to decorate a new flat John has bought a house and wants to work out the costs of decorating and furnishing one of the rooms. He has a budget of 800 for carpets, decorating and furniture. 3 John wants to put new flooring in the room. The kitchen area and bathroom have just had new tiles so he does not need to replace them. There is also a fitted wardrobe in the room which will not need flooring. Task 1a Floor Area Work out the total floor area that needs new flooring in the space below. You should just draw an outline of the lounge area which is in white on the plan. Do not show the windows in the 6m long wall on your plan. Show the scale you have used. 8 Task 3 Wall Coverings John needs to decide whether he should wall paper or paint the walls as he has a limited budget. Notes: NOT TO SCALE Bathroom Only walls shown dotted are to be wall papered or painted. Kitchen All walls are 2.4m high Fitted Wardrobe Ignore the windows shown in the Estate Agent s drawing for the purposes of calculating the quantity of wall paper and paint John has found some rolls of wallpaper in a sale at 3.99 a roll.
