7 INNOVATION: KILGORE ROAD BRIDGE JOINT REPAIR PROJECT Concrete Tee Beam Joint repair project completed in cooperation with the University of Michigan and MDOT o Advantages over typical connection grout: Compressive strength: UHPC +/-21,000 lbs./sq. inch (Typical Grout +/- 8,000 lbs./sq. inch) o UHPC is virtually waterproof, at least 6 times more than grout o Extremely high bond strength to existing materials o Self-consolidating material.

12 INNOVATION: GRISWOLD ROAD BRIDGE GREEN DECK WATERPROOFING o Project completed in cooperation with MDEQ o Green Deck mixture of recycled glass and ground tire rubber, epoxy, & stone surface. o Similar to standard epoxy overlay except one course application and use of glass and rubber. o Fine rubber will help with hardness of epoxy and absorb small movement before cracking on surface.
