6 W. KAYE PARRY A HISTORY In 1879, a lady by the name of Rosa Barrett established Tivoli Cottage, a purpose-built home and crèche to care for young children under the age of six. The Cottage Home was the first set up in Ireland to cater for children requiring care and accommodation on a daily and full time basis. W. Kaye Parry, an up-and-coming architect, who gave his services free of charge, and when the site was found on the Tivoli Road frontage of Royal Terrace, designed a large building in the cottage style with its name, The Cottage Home for Little Children carved in stone along the front. The name reflected the ethos of the home, aiming to provide accommodation on a homely, cottage scale, for these younger children.

In developing Tivoli Place, Montane Developments, put the conservation of this protected structure and it s outbuildings to the fore. The project involved restoring the attractive Victorian style façade of the building to it s prime. The internal structure has been painstakingly restored and modelled to accommodate 5 luxury townhouses.
