4 1. INSTALLATION 1) To protect refrigerator in movement Use padded hand truck from side ony. 2) Remove a protective tape and pad from the refrigerators. Connect power cord. Adjust the cearance between the doors. 3) Temperature contros ard preset in the factory for recommended settings. The refrigerator shoud runs smoothy and ower the temperature graduay. 4) Once the refrigerator temperature is sufficienty ow It is recommended to store foods in the refrigerator. It takes a few hours to reach the preset temperatures. 2. 14 Mechanica Disassemby Warning Aways unpug the power cord before repacing the refrigerator amp. There is the danger of eectric shock. Refrigerator Light 1. Remove the screw. Freezer Light 1. Remove the cover by pressing the bottom tab. 2. Remove the amp cover by unocking the tabs and puing the cover down. 2. Repace the ightbub by turning it counter-cock wise. 3. Repace the ightbub by turning it countercockwise. 3. Reattach the cover and check the amp by pressing door switch. 4. After repacing the bub, reattach the cover and the screw it again. 5. Pug the power cord in and check the amp by pressing the R-door switch. 14

15 Mechanica Disassemby Evaporator Cover in the Refrigerator 1. Remove a sheves and drawers from the refrigerator. 6. Disconnect the wire connector. 2. Pu out the screw caps with a sma fat-bade screwdriver. 3. Remove 6 Phips screws from the cover. Ductwork of the evaporator fan assemby. 4. Unock the 2 tabs with a fat-bade screwdriver on each side of the bottom cover. 5. Remove the evaporator cover by puing out from the bottom of the evaporator cover. 15

16 Mechanica Disassemby Evaporator Cover in Freezer 1. Remove a drawers from the freezer. 5. Disconnect wire connector from the top-eft corner. 2. Remove screws (2) from the support rai. 6. Remove 2 screws from the rear cover of the freezer evaporator and unock the tabs to remove it. 2 screws 3. Pu down the hoder of the support rai and disconnect the wire connector to remove it Unock the tabs around the evaporator cover from the buttom

17 Mechanica Disassemby Evaporator in Refrigerator Evaporator is ocated in the bottom of refrigerator. 1. Take off the ductwork in refrigerator. 2. Disconnect the wire connector.(heater and Thermistor) 3. Desoder the capiary tube and the suction ine from the evaporator. 4. Remove the evaporator. 5. With a fie, score the capiary tube just upstream of the sodered point. Break off the sodered section to hep prevent soder from pugging the tube during sodering. 6. Pace a new evaporator and braze the suction and capiary tube to evaporator using siver soder. 7. Insta a repacement dryer. 8. Evacuate and recharge the system using reasonabe procedures. Evaporator in Freezer Evaporator is ocated in the bottom of freezer to produce cod air driven across the evaporator cois. 1. Take off the ductwork in Freezer. 2. Disconnect the wire connector (Heater, Bimenta, and Thermistor). 3. Desoder the inet and outet tubes. 4. Remove the evaporator. 5. Take the same steps to sea the system as mentioned earier. Unpug the power cord. 4. Disassembe the eectric box cover after removing the screws with a Phiips screwdriver. 2. Remove the screws of the compartment cover. 20 Operation Function 9-1) Digita Pane 9-2) Temperature Contro Function When the system power is initay engaged, the defaut set temperature are -2 for the freezer and 38 for the set refrigerator, respectivey. The numbers shown on the digita dispay pane stand for the actua compartments temperatures. When the compartment temperatures go down, so do the numbers on the dispay pane, and finay they reach the set temperatures. Once the system is stabiized, the dispay temperatures are the set temperature. 1) Freezer Temperature Contro. To seect a set temperature, press the Freezer Temp. button. The dispay shows the set temperature from - 14 to 8 in sequence. 2) Refrigerator Temperature Contro. To seect a set temperature, press the Refrigerator Temp. button. The dispay shown the set temperature from 34 to 46 in sequence. 3) Chid Lock Button When these two buttons are pressed at the same time for 3 sec., the Power Freeze, Power Coo, Freeze Temp, Refrigerator Temp, are ocked and can not be modified. If you press the two buttons at the same time again for 3 sec., the chid ock function is canceed. note) Because of the temperature sensor sensivity, the refrigerator can be under and/or over cooed when the air fow is bocked by stored foods. (Temperature range of the sensor : ) In the event of a power faiure, if the freezer temperature is maintained ower than 41, the ast 9-3) Power Freeze Function and Power Coo Functions. Seect the Power Freeze or Power Coo buttons separatey. These buttons are togged ON and OFF and the indicators as we. Athough you seect Power Freeze or Power Coo, the set temperatures in the freezer and refrigerator are not changed. The set temperatures for the compartments can be changed whie these functions are in use. 1) Power Freeze function 1-1) When you press the Power Freeze button, the LED indicator ights right away, but there is 10 seconds ag time to an actua operation. When this button is pressed again, the Power Freeze function stops and the indicator is off immediatey. 1-2) If you seect Power Freeze, both the compressor and the freezer fan run for 2 ½ hours continuousy. 1-3) During Power Freeze, the freezer retains the current settings. 1-4) When Power Freeze expires, the indicator goes off and the freezer set temperature wi be restored. 2) Power Coo function 2-1) Power Coo operation and the indicator work exacty same as the Power Freeze function. 2-2) When Power Coo is seected, COMP and R-FAN operate continuosy unti the refrigerator reaches 25. This function wi be terminated after 2 ½ hr running. 20

21 Operation Function 3) When you seect Power Freeze and Power Coo together Each function works at the same time. The COMP and F-FAN run continuousy and the R-FAN runs unti 25 in the refrigerator. 4) Initia Power-On 4-1) When the freezer and the refrigerator temperatures are higher than 14 and 50, respectivey, if Power Freeze is seected, then the R-FAN wi be off. If Power Coo is seected, then the F-FAN wi be off. 4-2) When both functions are seected, there is no benefit of fast cooing for each compartment. 9-4) Sound Function 1) Sound function 1-1) To make sure a command input, whenever a button is pressed, a ding-dong sounds. 1-2) When two or more buttons are pressed simutaneousy or if a wrong button is pressed, there is no sound. 2) Door Open Aarm 2-1) When the doors remain open for 2 minutes, there are 10 times beeps. 2-2) If the doors continue to remain open more than 2 minutes, the additiona 10 beeps interva wi change to 1 minute. 2-3) The beeps wi cease immediatey when the doors are cosed. 9-5) Defrost Function 1) A defrost is determined based on the accumuated compressor on-time. 2) When the power is engaged for the first time, the defrost cyce for the freezer and the refrigerator wi begin after 4 hours of the accumuated compressor on-time. 3) A defrost interva depends on the ambient temperature, the number of door openings, and the door open time. 4) The defrost cyce is composed of a pre-coo process (F-Fan and COMP) for 30 minutes, a heating process, and a resting for 8-12 minutes to drain. 5) A minimum interva is 6 hours and a maximum is 11 hours for the refrigerator, and 12 hours and 22 hours for the freezer, respectivey. 6) When the system runs ony for the refrigerator (R-Fan and COMP) and if the refrigerator can not reach the set. 21

22 Operation Function 9-6) Forced Operation function (Power coo key + Refrigerator. Temp 8sec.) This function enabes a pu-down mode, a defrost mode for the refrigerator ony, a defrost mode rigerator at the same time, and a canceation of this function. Press Power Coo and Refrigerator Temp. buttons for 8 seconds simutameousy to get in the ready mode for a forced operation. The dispay pane wi return to norma after 15 seconds in the ready mode. At the ready mode, press any button once to start a pu-down operation, twice for a defrost cyce for the refrigerator, three times for a defrost cyce for the freezer and the refrigerator, and finay four times for canceation of this function. Another way to cance this function is to simpy pug out and in the power cord. 1) Pu-down Operation 1-1) At the ready mode, press any button once then the buzzer wi beep (ON for 1/2 second and OFF for 1/2 second) unti this mode is canceed. 1-2) At this pu-down mode, the compressor wi start immediatey (No 5 minute deay) and if the system is in the defrost cyce, it wi be canceed right away. note) If this pu-down mode begins right after the compressor was off, the compressor may not start to run due to an overoad condition. 1-3) At this mode, the compressor and freezer fan wi operate continuousy for 24 hours and the refrigerator fan wi be on and off according to the set temperature(34 ) 1-4) After 24 hour operation, the system wi be cyced at -14 for the freezer and 34 for the refrigerator. 1-5) In order to cance this mode at any time, seect the next mode on the ready mode or power off the system. 2) Defrost operation 2-1) At the pu-down mode, press any button again on the ready mode to begin the defrost cyce for the refrigerator. 2-2) The beep sound continues for 3 second at the beginning, then ON for 3/4 seconds and OFF for 1/4 second unti this mode cease. 2-3) After this operation, the system wi come back to norma operation. 2-4) At this mode, press any button again on the ready mode to operate the defrost cyces for both compartments. 2-5) The beep sound continues for 3 seconds at that time, then ON for 1/4 second and OFF for 3/4 seconds unti the defrost operation cease. 3) Canceation 3-1) At the R,F-Defrost mode, press ant button again on the ready mode to return to a norma operation. 3-2) Simpy unpug the power cord, then pug it again to return to a norma operation. 22

23 Operation Function 9-7) Power faiure compensating function 1) When the freezer temperature is ower than 50, a functions on the dispay pane wi be restored. 2) When the freezer temperature is higher than 50, a functions wi be initiaized. (2 for the freezer, 38 for the refrigerator, and Cubed for the Ice Type) 9-8) Exhibition Function This function is for a dispay purpose on the foor of show room or store. 1) Mode ON/OFF 1-1) For the exhibition mode, press Power Freeze and Freezer Temp. buttons simutaneousy for 5 seconds unti a ding-dong sounds. 1-2) Press the same time buttons again for 5 seconds to cance this mode put with a ding-dong sound. 2) Operation 2-1) Most of the system function except the compressor operation are working propery. 2-2) There is no defrost cyce in this mode. 9-9) Sef-Diagnostics function 1) Sef-Diagnostics in the initia Power ON 1-1)The contro board performs a sef diagnostics test within 1 second and check out the temperature sensors abiities. 1-2) If a sensor faiure occurs, a corresponding LED segment wi bink. 1-3) When a LED segment binks, ony the canceation function (Press Power Freeze and Power Coo buttons simutaneousy for 8 seconds) is acceptabe. 1-4) After a repacement of bad sensor or a canceation of this function, this sef diagnostics wi end. 2) Sef-Diagnostics in the norma operation 2-1) To seect this function, press Power Freeze and Power Coo buttons simutaneousy for 5 seconds with an audibe tone. 2-2) In the sef diagnostic mode, ony corresponding LED segments wi be iuminated (see the check ist on) 2-3) After a 30 second iumination of error signa, the system wi return to the norma operation. 23

C-FAN Deay function Ranges of ambient temp. Above ~ 65 Beow 60 Operation C-FAN is ON as soon as the compressor is on. C-FAN is ON with 5 minutes deay from the compressor on. C-FAN is OFF regardess of the compressor operation. 25

27 Circuit Descriptions 10-1) Source Power Circuit Votage (DC 12V) Vcc (DC 5V) Circuit used Reay Operation & LED Dispay Power around MICOM & Sensor Detector 1) The input AC votage drops to AC 8 vots on the transformer secondary side between 1~3 at CN 10. The rectified votage passed through D101 ~ 104 becomes DC 5V through votage reguator MC7805(REG1). This (DC5V) is suppied to the contro board and sensor s circuits. 2) The input AC Votage drops to AC 15 vots on the transformer secondary side between 5~7 at CN 10. The rectified votage passed through D105 ~ D108 becomes DC 12V through votage reguator MC7812CT (REG2). This (DC12V) is suppied to the reay operation and LED dispay. 10-2) Osciator circuit Port Xin(#19) Xout(#20) Osciating Frequency 4.00MHz 4.00MHz ±0.5% Error It is designed for cock generation and time cacuation for synchronizing transmission and reception on the ogic eements inside the MICOM. If the X-TAL specification changes, MICOM may make an error. (The standard components shoud be used.) 27

28 Circuit Descriptions 10-3)Reset Circuit Port Vcc Reset Votage DC 5V DC 5V When the power is suppied to MICOM, the reset circuit initiaizes RAM and other sectors of MICOM. A reset votage maintains ow for hundreds of µsec comparing to MICOM Vcc votage when the power is in. It aso maintains high (5V) during norma operation. But, when Vcc drops to 3.4V-3.7V, a reset port becomes ow. 10-4) Door S/W Sensing Circuit DOOR Door Conditions Door S/W Contact MICOM PIN NO Micom Input Votage F CLOSE OPEN OPEN CLOSE # 39 HIGH LOW R CLOSE OPEN OPEN CLOSE # 40 HIGH LOW 1) If a door is open, the door S/W contact is cosed. 29 Circuit Descriptions 10-5) Temperature Sensing Circuit ( Air Sensor) When Sensor is open MICOM input HIGH When sensor is cut off MICOM input LOW 1) The sensor uses the characteristics of thermistor. If temperature goes higher, resistance goes ower. On the contrary, if temperature goes ower, resistance goes higher. 2) A MICOM input votage is cacuated by sensor as foows. 31 Circuit Descriptions 10-7) Load Drive Circuit 1) Most of reays can contro the compressor, heaters and severa option functions. 2) For the compressor, #12 pin of MICOM signas HIGH(5V). This signa enters to #2 of IC03 and #15 of output termina wi be on and grounded. When the rey RY71 is switched to NO termina a 115V power is suppied to the compressor. If MICOM outputs LOW(0V), the compressor wi stop. 3) If the RY71 is connected to NC, RY72 and 73 for defrost heaters wi be on and corresponding heater. COMP RELAY Defrost Heater Load Remark on off Comp Operation Defrost-Heater Power Off on on Comp off, Defrost-Heater Off off on Defrost-Heater On Comp Power Off off off Comp Off, Defrost-Heater Off Wi be activated according to the signa from MICOM. 56 13. Safety Instructions on Service Unpug the refrigerator before making any repair or any repacement. Avoid the eectric shock. Use the rated components on the repacement. Check the correct mode number, rated votage, rated current, operating temperature and so on. On repair, be sure that the wires such as harness are bunded tighty and are not exposed by water. Bunde wires tighty in order not to be detached by the externa force. On repair, remove competey dust, partices or other things on housing parts, harness parts, and connectors. Ceaning may prevent fire by tracking or short. Check if there is any trace indicating the infitration of water on eectrica parts. If there is a trace, change the reated components or do the necessary action such as taping using the insuating tape. After repair, check the assembed state of parts. It must be the same assembed state as before. Check the surrounding conditions of the instaed refrigerator. When the refrigerator is ocated at humid or wet pace, or the instaed state is unstabe, change the ocation. If needed, do the ground. Especiay, if there is a possibiity of the eectric eakage, this appiance must be propery grounded. Do not aow consumers to use one outet for severa pugs. Check if the power cord is paced under other appiance and so was damaged, worm-out and squeezed. Repair defective power pug or outet immediatey. Make sure that the power cord is not paced under other appiance or squeezed. Do not aow consumers to keep bottes or the ikes in the Freezer or to keep foods in unstabe position.
