Avoid adding drain to waste pipes as odours may arise in the future. When instaing the outdoor unit, make sure to connect the draining hose so that draining is performed correcty. The water generated during the heating operation by the outdoor unit may overfow and resut in property damage. In particuar, in winter, if a bock of ice fas, it may resut in injury, death or property damage. Do not hook the power ine over a meta object, pace a heavy object on the power ine, insert the power ine between objects, or push the power ine into the space behind the appiance. Do not touch the circuit breaker with wet hands. This may resut in eectric shock. Do not turn the air conditioner off with the circuit breaker whie it is operating. Turning the air conditioner off and then on again with the circuit breaker may cause a spark and resut in eectric shock or fire. 6 Engish

If a chid paces a bag over its head, it may resut in suffocation. Do not touch the front pane with your hands or fingers during the heating operation. This may resut in eectric shock or burns. Do not insert your fingers or foreign substances into the outet when the air conditioner is operating or the front pane is cosing. To avoid cutting your fingers, wear thick cotton goves when ceaning it. This shoud be done by a quaified technician pease contact your instaer or service centre. Do not cean the inside of the air conditioner by yoursef. For ceaning inside the appiance, contact your nearest service centre. 10 Indoor Unit Overview Congratuations on the purchase of the air conditioner. We hope you enjoy the features of your air conditioner and stay coo or warm with optima efficiency. Pease read the user manua to get started and to make the best use of the air conditioner. 11 Ceaning the Air Conditioner Ceaning the air fiter Open the front grie. Pu both hooks and take the grie downward. Two safety cips are mounted to the front grie to prevent it from dropping. Detach the front grie. Remove the safety cip from pane front. (There are two safety cips between grie and pane base.) If you want to cean the fiter ony, you do not have to detach the grie. Foow step 4 and 5 PULL PULL Cean the grie and Air fiter with a vacuum ceaner or soft brush. If dust is too heavy, then rinse it with running water and dry it in a ventiated area. For best conditions, repeat every two weeks. If the Air fiter dries in a confined (or humid) area, odors may generate. If it occurs, re-cean and dry it in a we-ventiated area. Pu out the Air fiter. Ceaning and Maintenance Insert the Air fiter back in its origina position. You wi hear a cick sound when the Air fiter is propery paced. Attach the front grie. Reverse the above steps to attach the front grie. NOTE Your air conditioner and dispay may ook sighty different from the iustration shown above depending on your mode. After ceaning the fiter, press the Fiter Reset button on the remote contro for 2 seconds to reset the fiter schedue. Fiter sign indicator wi be on for ceaning time. Engish 11

12 Maintaining the Air Conditioner If the air conditioner wi not be used for an extended period of time, dry the air conditioner to maintain in best conditions. 1. Dry the air conditioner thoroughy by operating in Fan mode for 3 to 4 hours and disconnect the power pug. There may be interna damage if moisture is eft in components. 2. Before using the air conditioner again, dry the inner components of the air conditioner again by running in Fan mode for 3 to 4 hours. This heps remove odours that may have generated from dampness. Periodica checks Refer to the foowing chart to maintain the air conditioner propery. Cean the eectric components with jets of air (2). Verify that a the eectric components are firmy tightened (2). Cean the fan (2). Verify that a the fan assemby is firmy tightened (2). Cean the condensate drain pan (2). NOTE The checks and maintenance operations described above are essentia to guarantee the efficiency of the air conditioner. The frequency of these operations may vary depending on the characteristics of the area, the amount of dust, etc. a. The above mentioned operations shoud be performed more frequenty if the area of instaation is very dusty. b. These operations must aways be performed by quaified personne. For more detaied information, refer to Instaation Manua. 12 Engish

13 Interna protections via the unit contro system This interna protection operates if an interna faut occurs in the air conditioner. Type Against cod air De-ice cyce Anti-protection of interna battery Protect compressor Description The interna fan wi be off against cod air when the heat pump is heating. The interna fan wi be off against cod air when the heat pump is heating. The compressor wi be off to protect interna battery when the air conditioner operates in Coo mode. The air conditioner does not start operating immediatey to protect the compressor of the outdoor unit after it has been started. NOTE If the heat pump is operating in Heat mode, the de-ice cyce is actuated to remove frost from an outdoor unit that may have deposited at ow temperatures. The interna fan is switched off automaticay and restarted ony after the de-ice cyce is competed. When the de-ice cyce is operating,it may generate strange sound. It is norma operation for product safety. Ceaning and Maintenance Engish 13

14 Troubeshooting Refer to the foowing chart if the air conditioner operates abnormay. This may save time and unnecessary expense. Probem The air conditioner does not operate at a. Soution Check if the power pug is propery connected. Check whether the auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB) is turned on. If the auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB) is turned off, the air conditioner does not work athough you press the (Power) button. When you cean the air conditioner or do not use it for an extended period of time, turn off the auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB). After the air conditioner is not used for an extended period of time, be sure to turn on the auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB) 6 hours before starting operation. NOTE The auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB) is sod separatey. Make sure that auxiiary power switch (MCCB, ELB) is instaed in the distribution box inside the buiding. If the air conditioner is turned off by the Timed off function, turn on the air conditioner again by pressing the (Power) button. Appendix The temperature does not change. Warm air does not come out of the air conditioner. The fan speed does not change. The wireess remote contro does not operate. Check whether the Fan mode is running. In the Fan mode, the air conditioner contros the set temperature automaticay, and you cannot change the set temperature. Check whether the outdoor unit is designed for cooing ony. In this case, warm air does not come out athough you seect the Heat mode. Check whether the remote contro is designed ony for cooing ony. Use a remote contro that s both cooing and heating. Check whether the Auto or Dry mode is running. In these modes, the air conditioner contros the fan speed automaticay, and you cannot change the fan speed. Check whether the batteries are discharged. Repace the batteries with new ones. Make sure that nothing is bocking the remote contro sensor. Check whether any strong ighting sources are near the air conditioner. Strong ight which comes from fuorescent bubs or neon signs may interfere with the remote contro. 14 Engish

15 Probem The wired remote contro does not operate. The air conditioner is not turned on or off immediatey with the wired remote contro. The Timed on/off function does not operate. Soution Check whether the indicator is dispayed at the bottom right of the remote contro dispay. In this case, turn off both the air conditioner and the auxiiary power switch, and then contact a service centre. Check whether the wired remote contro is set for group contro. In this case, the air conditioners connected to the wired remote contro are turned on or off sequentiay. This operation takes up to 32 seconds. Check whether you pressed the (SET) button on the remote contro after setting the on/off time. Set the on/off time. The indoor unit dispay binks continuousy. I want to get cooer air. The air is not coo or warm enough. Turn on the air conditioner again by pressing the (Power) button. Turn off and then turn on the auxiiary power switch, and then turn on the conditioner. If the indoor unit dispay is sti binking, contact a service centre. Operate the air conditioner with a eectric fan to save energy and enhance the cooing efficiency. In the Coo mode, coo air does not come out if the set temperature is higher than the current temperature. MR-EH00 remote contro: Press the Temperature button repeatedy unti the set temperature (minimum: 18 C) is set to ower than the current temperature. AR-KH00E remote contro: Press the Temperature button on the remote contro. Then rotate the Whee unti the set temperature (minimum: 18 C) is set to ower than the current temperature. In the Heat mode, warm air does not come out if the set temperature is ower than the current temperature. MR-EH00 remote contro: Press the Temperature button repeatedy unti the set temperature (maximum: 30 C) is set to higher than the current temperature. AR-KH00E remote contro: Press the Temperature button on the remote contro. Then rotate the Whee unti the set temperature (maximum: 30 C) is set to higher than the current temperature. 16 Troubeshooting Appendix Probem The air is not coo or warm enough. The air conditioner makes strange noises. Unpeasant odours permeate the room. Soution Both cooing and heating do not operate in the Fan mode. Seect the Coo, Heat, Auto, or Dry mode. Check whether the air fiter is bocked with dirt. A dusty fiter may decrease the cooing and heating efficiencies. Cean the air fiter frequenty. If a cover is on the outdoor unit or any obstace is present near the outdoor unit, remove them. Insta the outdoor unit in a we-ventiated pace. Avoiding paces exposed to direct sunight or cose to a heating appiance. Pace a sunscreen over the outdoor unit to protect it from direct sunight. If the indoor unit is instaed in a pace exposed to direct sunight, pu the curtains on the windows. Cose the windows and doors to maximize the cooing and heating efficiencies. If the Coo mode is stopped and then started immediatey, coo air comes out after about 3 minutes to protect the compressor of the outdoor unit. When the Heat mode is started, warm air does not come out immediatey to prevent coo air from coming out at the beginning. If the refrigerant pipe is too ong, the cooing and heating efficiencies may be decreased. Avoid exceeding the maximum pipe ength. In certain conditions (especiay, when the outdoor temperature is ower than 20 C), a hissing, rumbing, or spashing sound may be heard whie the refrigerant is circuating through the air conditioner. This is a norma operation. When you press the (Power) button on the remote contro, noise may be heard from the drain pump inside the air conditioner. This noise is a norma sound. If the air conditioner is running in a smoky area or if there is a sme entering from outside, ventiate the room propery. If both indoor temperature and indoor humidity are high, operate the air conditioner in the Cean or Fan mode for 1 to 2 hours. If the air conditioner has not been operated for an extended period of time, cean the indoor unit and then operate the air conditioner in the Fan mode for 3 to 4 hours to dry the inside of the indoor unit for remova of unpeasant odours. If the air fiter bocked with dirt, cean the air fiter. 16 Engish

17 Probem Steam is produced on the indoor unit. The outdoor unit fan continues to operate when the air conditioner is turned off. Water drops from the piping connections of the outdoor unit. Steam is produced on the outdoor unit. Soution In winter, if the indoor humidity is high, steam may be produced around the air outet whie the defrost function is running. This is a norma operation. W hen the air conditioner is turned off, the outdoor unit fan may continue to operate to reduce noise of the refrigerant gas. This is a norma operation. Condensation may deveop due to the difference in temperature. This is a norma condition. In winter, when the air conditioner runs in the Heat mode, the frost on the heat exchanger mets and steam may be produced. This is a norma operation, neither product mafunction nor a fire.
