The Hall itself, is a magnificent red brick Georgian mansion, and is Grade II* listed. The 16 acre meadow between the drive and the river is owned by the majority of the residents of Broke Hall Park. The Hall was the ancestral home of the Broke family, having been granted by Henry VIII to Sir Richard Broke, who was at the time First Baron of the Exchequer. However, the most notable scion of the family was Admiral Philip Broke, who was honoured for saving the reputation of the Royal Navy by his famous victory, off Boston Harbour in 1813, when his ship, HMS Shannon, defeated and captured the frigate USS Chesapeake in the War of American Independence. Today the Hall is sub-divided into apartments and flats and within the grounds the former Orangery wing and estate buildings have been converted to a select number of residences. Broke Hall Park is administered by a resident s association with a modest annual charge for parkland and driveway maintenance. There is access to the foreshore, and to a riverside path, which leads to the neighbouring village of Levington. In nearby Nacton village, is the Orwell Park Prep School plus a primary school and village store. The A14 is just 2 miles away and provides links to the East Coast Ports, Cambridge and the Midlands as well as to London and to the country s main road network (via the A12).

6 Main line rail services run regularly from Ipswich to London s Liverpool Street Station in about 70 minutes. There are excellent water sport opportunities on the Orwell and Deben estuaries, including the nearby Levington Marina. There are golf courses at Ipswich, Rushmere, Seckford, Melton and Woodbridge and a full range of shopping and commercial facilities in Ipswich. Directions (Post code IP10 0ET) From the Nacton interchange on the A14 proceed in a south easterly direction towards the village of Nacton. After a 90 left hand bend, take the next turning right signed to Broke Hall. Proceed past the parish church and Orwell Park School. At the end of this lane go through the brick pillared gates into Broke Hall Park. Continue down the main driveway towards The Hall. Turn left in front of The Hall and then right, signed to The Orangery. Park in the available spaces and walk beyond the first garage and turn left where the five bar gate to the property will be found on the right.
