The Chaenge: TRO Jung Brannen (TRO J B) was awarded the roe of engineer and architect on this project by Saint Francis and chaenged to seect air distribution soutions that woud meet or surpass industry standards and reduce risk of airborne infection. Beyond the functiona requirements of the space, TRO J B was aso chaenged to design an architecturay appeaing environment for heaing that woud demonstrate Saint Francis vision for premium patient care. TRO J B, in turn, partnered with Price to suppy system soutions for every foor of this new faciity. The Soution: Of the 19 new operating rooms at Saint Francis, the vast majority were constructed to function as fexibe OR spaces. For these ORs, TRO J B seected the Price Unitee ceiing system for maximum mechanica fexibiity through easy ceiing access, and Price aminar fow diffusers to ensure a cean suppy of HEPA fitered air. Pau Kondrat, Senior Associate & Director of HVAC Engineering at TRO J B, visited Price Technica Center in Suwanee, GA to witness the aminar fow diffuser in action. This in-person demonstration vaidated the performance of the LFD and provided TRO J B with the confidence that the system woud meet or exceed the necessary air fow standards within the space. The remaining two operating rooms were designed as hybrid cath ab/cardiac ORs, requiring a different soution to meet the air change requirements in a much arger space and with more variabe equipment than the standard ORs. For these spaces, TRO J B seected the Price HORD air curtain system and Unitee ceiing with Unistrut integration, and worked cosey with Price s appications engineering group to deveop an extensive Unistrut framing and track system on which to mount a of the medica equipment. This principe ed TRO J B to seect the Price Adjusta Sot for air fow contro over the main reception desk and approximatey 200 feet of Price Jet Sot diffusers throughout the main and departmenta waiting areas. Easiy integrated into the architecture of the space, these diffusers (and accompanying return gries) were instaed with the ceiing suspension system and meet the varying throw requirements of these pubic areas. Square Paque Diffusers were designed into the haways of every foor, seected both for reiabe ong-term performance and unobtrusive design. The Resuts: The incredibe breadth of Price s product ines, from standard gries to compex operating room systems, aowed Price to optimize the environment of this faciity by providing compementary high- performance air distribution soutions in every critica space. This aso aowed the various stakehoders the benefits of working with the same suppier across mutipe functions, incuding access to an appications support team with knowedge of the fu system and significant cost savings. Contractor: SKANSKA Mechanica: BCH Mechanica Tampa Genera Hospita demonstrates what it means to be a word-cass heathcare faciity, showcasing one of the most comprehensive medica faciities in Forida, whie servicing a popuation in excess of four miion. The first operating room focused project at Tampa Genera Hospita required a substantia amount of product customization due to the imited space above the ceiing and under the joist, in correation with the ayout of ceiing mounted operating room equipment. This meant customization was essentia, from creating a penum with side access, to actuay reducing the height of the aminar fow diffuser and adjusting the side connections in order to accommodate what itte space the faciity had to bring the suppy duct to. Knowing the vast customization capabiities of Price s offerings, the project team s foundation formed rapidy. Inviting the project s contractor and engineers to visit the Price Technica Center in Suwannee, GA aowed the team to view dynamic demonstrations of the operating room ceiing system Price offered as a soution. The design fexibiity of Price s operating room ceiing systems appeaed to the project team of Tampa Genera Hospita. Price s unique soution was a Heavy Duty Ceanroom Ceiing System that integrated matching Unistrut, aminar fow diffuser array, and suppy air penum and to produce an instaation compiant to FGI2010. To ensure a quaity outcome, Price technicians were onsite during the construction phase, ending a certain eve of confidence to the instaing contractor on how to proceed further through the rest of the project.
