Project engineer for an Alternatives Analysis of transit options to connect the campuses of the University of Michigan with Downtown Ann Arbor. The Study is evaluating alternative routes, stations and technologies to satisfy transit service demands of students, residents, and employees. Key issues include ridership forecasts, right of way requirements, impacts to historic resources, economic development and integration of station sites into the existing campus and city environment. The community involvement program includes numerous public meetings and workshops as well as communications through a variety of electronic media and social networks. Responsibilities include preliminary design of alignment in support of Alternatives Analysis, capital cost estimation, conducting work sessions with client, preparing documents for and attending public meetings. Crystal City Streetcar Project, Arlington, Virginia (Planning: / Design/Construction: Currently in planning) Project engineer for preliminary engineering and NEPA review for a streetcar connecting Pentagon City, Crystal City and Potomac Yard to Alexandria, VA. URS evaluated alternative alignments which are subject to an FTA NEPA review considering all social, economic and environmental issues including noise and vibration, environmental justice, parklands, cultural resources, air quality and energy. Responsibilities include preliminary design of alignment in support of the NEPA document, conducting work sessions with client, preparing documents for and attending public meetings.
2 Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Purple Line Light Rail, Montgomery and Prince George s Counties, Maryland (03/2014 to 10/2014): Project engineer for the proposal phase development of the Civil work on MTA s Public-Private-Partnership proposed 16-mile long mixed traffic and dedicated lane light rail transit line between Bethesda and New Carrolton, Maryland in Montgomery and Prince George s Counties, Maryland. Work included evaluating the proposed civil work, creating Value Engineering (VE) opportunities and the development of Alternative Technical Concepts (ATC s) for the Maryland Purple Line Partners (MPLP) Team. Bus Rapid Transit Plan, Montgomery County, Maryland (Planning: 2011 / Construction: Currently in planning) Design reviewer of the planning document outlining a proposed Bus Rapid Transit system in Montgomery County, Maryland. The review was conducted on behalf of the Maryland State Highway Administration and responsibilities include preparation of comments of the conceptual plan layout, report and cost estimate as well as the preparation of presentation materials. CM/PM Projects: Tunnel Dewatering Pump Station and Enhanced Clarification Facility Project, District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water), Washington, D.C. (Design: / Construction: Design-Build) Project Engineer for a Design-Build project at DC Water s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project is one of a series of projects that further s DC Water s Clean Rivers Program to reduce Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) to the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers. The Design-Build contract includes planning, engineering, design permitting, procurement of materials and equipment, construction, testing, startup, and commissioning of the project facilities and systems. The project will construct a new pump station and enhanced clarification facility for conveying and treating CSO captured in newly constructed tunnels during a storm event to a level approaching secondary treatment. URS was a member of a team that was awarded the contract for Construction Management services for the project. Responsibilities include lead engineer and main point of contact for all Site/Civil related design and construction reviews. Highway Projects: US 29 (Columbia Pike), Musgrove Road to Fairland Road Interchange Improvements, Montgomery County, MD (Design: / Construction: Currently in Design): Project Engineer responsible for design of highway and interchange improvements. The proposed improvements include replacement of existing at grade intersection along US 29 at Fairland Road with a new grade separated interchange and a the replacement of a signalized intersection at US 29 2
3 and Musgrove road with a new roundabout. The addition of the overpass bridge and roundabout includes several new ramps and associated roadway improvements. Design elements include: horizontal and vertical alignments, interchange and intersection improvements, MOT, drainage, SWM and retaining walls. Responsible for the design of the roundabout including highway geometry, cross sections, earthwork, drainage, landscape design, traffic design, utility coordination and construction cost estimates. MD 212A (Powder Mill Road) from Montgomery Road to US 1, Prince George s County, Maryland (Design / Construction: Currently in Design) Project engineer responsible for the roadway, drainage and stormwater management design for 1.3 miles of MD 212A in Prince George s County. MD 231 at Skipjack Road, Calvert County, Maryland (Design: ): Project Engineer for study adding left and maintaining right turn lanes on both approaches on MD 231. Existing right-of-way, wetlands, utilities and SWM facility impacts were avoided and/or minimized on a study of the roadway widening options preferred by SHA. As Calvert County funding improvements to this state road, the preferred option and associated cost estimate will be presented to Calvert County. The project will move forward to preliminary design if the County and SHA agree to preferred option and costs. Duke Street Pavement Reconstruction, Alexandria, VA (Design: / Construction: Currently in Design) Project engineer for a pavement reconstruction project for the City of Alexandria. The project was implemented to address the deteriorating pavement section along a heavily used main corridor in the City. Project responsibilities include: development of roadway plans, cost estimate and specifications including geotechnical, erosion and sediment control and stormwater management plans. Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) MD 355 Crossing Project, Bethesda, Maryland (Planning: / Design/Construction: Currently in planning). Project engineer for a complex multimodal study in Bethesda, Maryland. This controversial project was initiated to address exiting issues with pedestrian safety/mobility, and the congested movement of motor vehicles, emergency response vehicles, and transit services (WMATA) near NNMC and NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. Project responsibilities include: development of roadway, transit, and pedestrian crossing improvements; development of construction phasing plans. Also assisted in the development of the County s first design-build two step procurement documentation, Request for Qualification (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP). CSAH 101 Reconstruction Project Roundabout Analysis, Hennepin County, Minnesota 3
4 (Design 2013 / Construction: Currently in design) Project engineer for the design of roadway improvements related to the reconstruction of CSAH 101 between CSAH 5 in Minnetonka, Minnesota and US 12 in Wayzata, Minnesota. Responsibilities include review of roundabout design to ensure geometric compatibility with current MnDOT and FHWA roundabout standards. Central Avenue (MD 214) at Muddy Creek Road (MD 468) Intersection Improvements Phase 1, Anne Arundel County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: ) Design Engineer for storm drain work associated with widening and intersection improvements for Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works. Responsibilities include obtaining access permit approval from MD SHA, preparing addenda to final plans and responding to request for information, and preparation of storm drain structural details for procurement of shop drawings. Bridge Replacement for I-695 Inner Loop over Benson Avenue and I-695 Inner Loop over Amtrak/US 1/Leeds Avenue, Baltimore County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: Currently in design) Design Engineer for all roadway work associated with the replacement of two bridges on I-695 Inner Loop for the Maryland State Highway Administration Office of Structures. Responsibilities include preliminary design of horizontal and vertical alignment, superelevation transitions, right of way impacts, median barrier inspection, utility conflicts, and coordination with sub consultants. I-70 Interchange Roundabout, New Stanton, Pennsylvania (Design: / Construction: Currently in design) Project engineer for the design of two roundabouts at the interchange of I-70 and SR 3089 in New Stanton, Pennsylvania for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Responsibilities include geometric design of two roundabouts to as per current PennDOT and FHWA roundabout design standards. MS4 Total Maximum Daily Loads Stormwater Enhancements, Anne Arundel County, Maryland (Design: 2011 / Construction: Currently in design) Design engineer for the retrofit of several stormwater management facilities for the Maryland State Highway Administration Highway Hydraulics Division. Responsible for field inspection/investigation of existing stormwater management sites, delineation of drainage areas and preliminary design of retrofits for existing facilities. State Highway Administration/Maryland Transportation Authority Statewide Freight Implementation Plan, Maryland (Planning: / Construction: Currently in planning) 4
5 Design engineer for the conceptual layout of freight parking areas across the state of Maryland in support of the Freight Implementation Plan. Responsibilities include field investigation as well as conceptual design layouts for several existing rest stops around throughout the state. MD 166 Sidewalk Improvement Project, Baltimore County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: TBD) Design engineer for sidewalk improvements along the east side of MD 166 (Rolling Road) from Chelton to Newburg Avenue (approximately 4,400 linear feet) for Maryland State Highway Administration District 4. Responsibilities include preliminary design of storm drain facilities, stormwater management facilities, horizontal and vertical sidewalk alignment, utility coordination, as well as procurement of plans, estimate and specifications. Eastern Boulevard Widening Phase 1, Washington County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: TBD) Design engineer for roadway widening of Eastern Boulevard from MD 64 to Security Road for Washington County. Responsibilities include final design of roadway, storm drains, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, permit coordination as well as the preparation of final design plans construction cost estimates, specifications and bid documents. Buck Hewitt Road, St. Mary s County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: Currently in design): Project engineer for the widening of approximately 0.2 miles along Buck Hewitt Road from the intersection of MD 237 and Buck Hewitt Road to just west of Victorias Circle for the St. Mary s County Department of Public Works and Transportation. Responsibilities include conceptual design of storm drain facilities, stormwater management facilities, horizontal and vertical roadway alignment, as well as procurement of plans, estimate and specifications. US 13B Drainage Improvements, Wicomico County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: 2015): Design engineer for storm drain and sidewalk improvements along 0.7 miles of US 13 from just north of West College Avenue to just north of South Boulevard for the Maryland State Highway Administration. Responsibilities include conceptual design of storm drain facilities as well ADA sidewalk ramps and sidewalk improvements. Goshen Road Improvements, Montgomery County, Maryland (Design: / Construction: Currently in design): Design engineer for stormwater management facilities along 3.5 miles of Goshen Road from south of Girard Street to north of Warfield Road for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation. Responsibilities include conceptual design of storm drain facilities as well as stormwater management facilities including bioswales, bioretention facilities, sand 5
6 filters, underground sand filters, extended detention ponds, culvert analysis, and stream restoration. Also responsible for procurement of quantities, cost estimate, and specifications. Bridge Projects (other firm): Bridge Replacement over Lewis Run (SR 4001, A01), McKean County, Pennsylvania Design engineer for replacement of a single-span reinforced concrete T- beam bridge in the Borough of Lewis Run. The bridge is closely surrounded by residences and a commercial establishment, and both underground and overhead utilities lie within the project limits. Responsible for bridge alternative study, type size and location submission, line grade typical submission, structural roadway design and quantities, as well as existing and proposed drainage analysis. SR 1006 ( A01) over the West Branch Clarion River Bridge Replacement, Elk County, Pennsylvania Design Engineer for preliminary engineering, final design and construction services for the replacement of this deficient structure. The existing bridge carrying S.R over the West Branch Clarion River is a 123-ft. long single span pony truss structure constructed in The bridge is sufficiently deteriorated and in need of replacement. As part of preliminary engineering, alternatives for bridge replacement on the existing or adjacent alignment will be investigated in order to develop a cost-effective project design while maintaining traffic during construction without a lengthy detour. Responsible for water/traffic plan report, erosion and sediment pollution control plan, and design field view submission. SR 1009 (007) Bridge Replacement over Tributary to Little Swatara Creek, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania Design Engineer for preliminary engineering, environmental clearance, final design, and services during construction to replace the existing single span steel beam bridge with a concrete-filled open grate deck supported by masonry abutments. The proposed structure is a single span prestessed concrete spread box beam bridge. A detour route is proposed to maintain traffic during construction. Responsible for erosion and sediment pollution control plan and narrative, detour plan, right of way plan and narrative, as well as roadway and structural quantities and final structural design. SR 4013 (005) Bridge Replacement over Raccoon Creek, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania Design Engineer for the preliminary engineering, environmental clearance, final design, and services during construction to replace the 6
7 existing one-lane, 2-span reinforced concrete T-beam structure over Raccoon Creek. The proposed structure is a 59.5 single-span spread box beam bridge. Proposed realignment of the replacement structure allows the curves on each end of the bridge to be flattened and improves sight distance. A detour route is proposed to maintain traffic during construction. Responsible for right-of-way plans, display boards for public meeting, erosion and sediment pollution control plan and narrative, detour plan, as well as roadway and structural quantities and final structure design. SR 2015 (001) Williamsburg Bridge over Frankstown Branch Juniata River, Blair County, Pennsylvania Design Engineer for the preliminary engineering, environmental clearance, final design, and services during construction to replace the existing 2-span steel beam bridge with a concrete-filled open grate deck supported by masonry abutments. Although the structure is proposed to be replaced on the existing alignment, significant involvement of underground utilities, a USGS gage station, and numerous Section 4(f) resources will require appropriate coordination in order to obtain environmental clearance for the recommended alternative. Responsible for NPDES permit application, erosion and sediment pollution control plan and narrative, post construction stormwater management plan and narrative, utility impact plan and coordination, right-of-way plans, traffic control plans, type size and location submission, roadway and structural quantities, final structural design and final structure plans.
