Variabe Broi Feature: You might want to broi some foods sower than others. Broiing can be sowed down by setting a ower temperature on the Oven Temperature Contro Knob instead of BROIL. Using a ower temperature wi cause the broi eement to turn on and off during the broiing so that the food brois more sowy. When the Oven Temperature Contro Knob is on BROIL. the Broi Eement heats a the time Set the temperature ower and it heats some of the time The ower the temperature setting. the shorter are the periods of heating. NOTE: The Oven Seector must be on BROIL and the door must be party open for a broiing temperatures. Resetting the Oven Temperature Contro: Does your new oven seem hotter or coder than your od oven? The temperatures in oder ovens often shift very graduay, getting hotter or coder without the user reay noticing the change. Your new oven is propery adjusted to provide accurate temperatures, but when compared to your od range. the new design may give you different baking resuts. If you think that the temperature setting on your range needs to be hotter or coder. you can adjust the Oven Temperature Contro Knob by yoursef. To adjust the setting. first pu the Oven Temperature Contro Knob straight off. On the back. ust across from the ocking screw. are a row of notches on the back part of the knob and one tooth on the chrome part. To set your oven about O F(5 C) cooer. oosen the ocking screw about two fu turns and move the row of notches one notch coser to LO To set your oven about O F(5 C) warmer, move the row of notches one notch coser to HI. Each notch equas about O^F(5 C). Tighten the ocking screw and put the knob back on the contro pane. Higher: move back part toward HI. One notch equas about 10 F (5 C). Oven rack positions Your oven has two racks. Aways put the racks where you want them to be before you turn on the oven. To remove a rack, take hod of it on the front edge and pu it out unti it stops. Then ift up the front edge and p: again. It wi side past the stops. out of the guides and out of the oven. To put it back, fit the back corners into the guides at each side of the oven and side it in. keeping the front tited up unti the rack passes the stops in the rack guides. To remove rack, pu forward unti rack stops, ift front and pu. For: Baking Broiing Roasting LARGE cuts of meat Roasting SMALLER cuts of meat Pace Rack: On the second rack guide from the bottom or so food is in the center of the oven. So food is about the distance from the broi eement suggested in the broiing timetabe under Using the Oven Contros. On the bottom rack guides. So food is in the center of the oven. 5

6 When baking, aways eave at east 1% to 2 inches (4-5 cm) of air space between the sides of a pan and other pans and the oven wa for air circuation. For best resuts. get additiona information on pacing pans, cookie sheets and other utensis from the Cooking Guide. The oven vent There is an oven vent under the right rear surface eement. When the oven is on. heated air wi escape through it. A vent is needed for air circuation in the oven during baking. You can cook on this surface unit whie the oven is on. A warm pan of food wi stay warm on this unit whie the oven is on. It may be warm enough to met butter, too. Do not try to save heat or energy by bocking the vent. Poor baking can resut. Pastic utensis may met if they are over the vent whie the oven is on. The optiona rotisserie If you woud ike a rotisserie with your oven, you can order a kit (Part No ) from your deaer. Easy instaation instructions come with the kit. Accessory canning kit (Part No ) The arge diameter of most water-bath or pressure canners combined with high heat settings for ong periods of time can shorten the ife of reguar surface units and cause damage to the cooktop. If you pan to use the cooktop for canning. we recommend the instaation of a Canning Kit. Order the kit from your Whirpoo Deaer or Tech-Care Service Company SEE THE COOKING GUIDE FOR IMPORTANT CANNING INFORMATION. Pu knob and trim ring straight out. Remember how the spring goes. Ceaning and caring for your range Your range is designed to be easy to cean. You wi usuay wipe off spis and spatters when they happen, but you wi sometimes want to cean under and behind the contro knobs and surface units. This section wi te you how to remove those, and what to use when ceaning. Removing and repacing contro knobs: 1. Be sure the contro knobs are set to OFF. 2. Pu the back knobs straight off. 3. If the contro has a chrome trim ring. pu it straight off. 4. Wash the knobs (and trim rings) in warm, sudsy water. 5. Repace the trim rings first. If the contro spring was removed, put it back exacty as shown on the eft...sma end first. 6. Hod the back knob so it points to OFF, Push it straight back on. Removing and Repacing Oven Contro Knobs: 1. Be sure the knobs are set to OFF. 2 Pu each knob straight off. 3. Wash the knobs in warm. sudsy water 4. The knobs are not interchangeabe. Make sure you put the adjustabe Oven Temperature Contro Knob on the right pace. and the nonadjustabe Oven Seector Knob on the other.

7 ReceDtace Removing surface units and refector bows: 1. First. be sure the Surface Unit Contros are a OFF and that the surface units are coo. 2. Lift each surface unit about an inch (2.5 cm) at the edge away from the pug-in (receptace). Pu the unit straight away from the pug-in. Do not wash surface units: they wi burn themseves cean during norma USC? 3. Lift out the refector bows. To remove surface unit. ift and pu straght out. Hod surface unit eve when repacing. Repacing refector bows and surface units: 1 Be sure the surface unit contros are on OFF, Put the refector bows back into their paces. Make sure you can see the pug-ins (receptaces) for the surface units through the square hoe in the side of each bow. Hod the surface unit eve with the prongs (terminas) pointing at the pug-in. With the prongs started in the pug-in. start pushing in on the surface unit. At the same time, ift a itte on the side of the surface unit that s by the pug-in. Make sure the surface-unit prongs are pushed into the pug-in as far as they wi go. The surface unit shoud fit into the refector bow and be eve 7

8 Prop up the top with support rod. Use auminum easy ceaning. foi for Pu straight with ike ange of part-open door. Push down eveny. & :: Pu to stop. Lift; pu again. Ceaning under the cooktop: To cean the area under the cooktop, ift the front of the cooktop at the center. Rarse the swing-up rod to hod it. (Be sure the tip of the rod is in the notch in the cooktop.) Use warm soapy water and a sponge or coth. Scouring powders or any other abrasive ceaner may harm porceainename finishes and can scratch chrome. Be carefu not to raise the cooktop so high that it touches the contro consoe. And don t drop it. Dropping the cooktop can chip or crack a hard porceain finish, or damage side panes and surface units. Easier ceaning with auminum foi: Oven ceaning can be a chore when spiovers bake onto the bottom of the oven. Use auminum foi so you can just throw it away with the spiovers. You can use the heavy-duty 18-inch (45 cm) auminum foi found in most grocery stores Or you can order an auminum foi kit (Part Number ) from your Whirpoo Deaer. When cutting the foi. make sure it is ong enough to cover the bottom with enough eft over to start up both sides. Make sure the bake eement is coo. Lift it far enough to raise its feet from the bottom of the oven. (You may have to remove the oven rack ) Side the foi sheet under the bake eement. Make sure it is centered and ong enough to start up the sides. When you put the bake eement back down, make sure a the feet rest soidy on the foi and that the foi is smoothed out across the bottom of the oven. If the feet on the eement are not soidy on the foi. the oven may not bake propery. Removing the oven door: Removing the oven door may make it easier to cean the oven. To remove the door, first open it to the first stop (about 4 inches or 10 cm). Take hod of both sides of the door near the top; then ift it at the same ange it is in. Wrth the door off. you wi notice how the ends of the hinges side into sots at the bottom corners of the door. To put the door back on, fit both bottom corners of the door over the ends of the hinges. Push the door down eveny, so neither corner gets ahead of the other. When it reaches the bottom. you can cose the door. A safety atch wi hod the door open unti it is on correcty. Removing the storage drawer (use care when handing the drawer): The drawer beow your oven is meant to store pots and pans. Never keep anything in there that wi burn or met. You may want to remove the drawer for ceaning under the range. Pu it straight out unti it stops. Use care when handing the drawer. Lift the front and pu some more to get it over the stop. Now side it out unti it stops again. Lift the drawer away from the range unti it sips out of the guides. To put it back. frt the side rais at the back of the drawer into both guides on the range. Push it cosed whie ifting the front to get past the stops. x
