1 James Lick High School Building 900 Student Center & Quad Modernization Modernization of Building 900 and the adjacent quad will create campus facilities to support James Lick s transformation into a New Tech High School. The Student Center will fulfill several campus objectives such as providing an environment where events can be staged, and where students can gather informally outside of the classroom. The indoor/outdoor experience will provide space for varied functions and groups and will need to maintain a comfortable scale in all configurations. It will support dining areas, student activities, and presentations. Semi-public functions such as student lounges and meeting spaces will also be part of the open plan. The site s unique proximities allow an inviting transition of unobstructed flow of indoor/outdoor spaces providing a seamless experience to/from the student center, food service, the Comet Building, conference rooms, and outdoor seating under shade. Classroom Modernization The Classroom Modernization project creates campus facilities to support James Lick High School s transformation. Classrooms will be converted to open studio environments that nurture transparency in the learning and teaching process, creating versatility while responding to the context of the existing buildings without heavily altering the existing environment. Classroom furnishings will address mobility and ease of reconfiguration, including mobile smart boards and mobile white board screens that act as dividers and idea space. The creation of smaller gathering spaces within the open classrooms will provide opportunities for small group learning. The campus wide implementation will also provide casual student areas outside of classroom space for small and large groups and a space for public proclamation and performance. The project based learning improvements are the heart of the larger campus re-development and will provide the elevated 21st Century identity to which the campus aspires. Storm Drain & Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure Improvements Upgrade of storm drain system between Buildings , , in the Quad bounded by Fill and grade northwest side of Baseball field to eliminate flooding, or provide new storm drain inlet; similar for south end of softball field. Upgrade sanitary sewer between Administration and Building 100. Replace underground infrastructure below pavements demolished as part of Quad Modernization. Delivery Method: Design Bid-Build for improvements beneath the Quad; Design-Bid-Build (CUPCCAA Procurement) for improvements in stand alone areas Security Camera Upgrades (Districtwide Project) The project will take the existing multiple security camera systems currently used throughout the District and replace them with a single integrated Districtwide, internet protocol (IP) based security camera system. Existing analog cameras on every campus, including the District Office, will be removed and replaced with high definition cameras, along with the infrastructure needed to support them. These high definition cameras are capable of capturing quality daytime and nighttime footage. New cameras will be placed in locations that were previously difficult to monitor. Camera footage will be streamed real-time to a Command Center Console and monitor wall at the District Office. Every ESUHSD site will be affected by this project. Installation is anticipated to occur at multiple sites simultaneously.

2 James Lick High School Swimming Pool Modernization (Districtwide Project) This project reconstructs the swimming pool complexes and infrastructure including pool pumps, motors, water heaters, filtration and disinfection systems. The new pools will be highly energy efficient and will be designed to enhance the high school aquatic programs to include physical education, recreation swimming, competitive swimming, water polo and diving at James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, W.C. Overfelt, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, Santa Teresa and Yerba Buena High Schools. Delivery Method: Design-Build Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades This project replaces aged mechanical, electrical and controls equipment that have reached the end of their service lives with modern equipment that meets Title 24 energy efficiency code requirements. Replacements will improve environment comfort levels in the classrooms, enhancing the educational experience for students and working environment for teachers and staff. The project will be implemented in distinct construction packages providing maximum value to the District. Package A is replacement of an existing 40 year old Multi-zone HVAC unit serving rooms 106 and 107 in Building 100 at Santa Teresa. This unit requires urgent replacement and is being handled separately in order to expedite the replacement. Package B is replacement of Energy Management System (EMS) digital controls and cabling, fire smoke dampers campus wide, and HVAC units in Building G small and large gymnasiums at Evergreen Valley. The school s EMS monitors and manages the energy consumption of the building systems to create usage efficiencies. The gymnasiums in Building G are not receiving adequate heat. CW/HW Valves in Building F will be drained, cleaned, and will receive preventative maintenance to address the leaking control valves in the AHU's hydronic piping system. Package C will cover mechanical and electrical equipment replacements at numerous sites, sites with the most aged equipment will have priority replacement status. This package will be completed in three phases, with replacements at each site completed by priority. Phase 1 includes first priority replacements at Andrew P. Hill, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, Oak Grove, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, and W.C. Overfelt. Phase 2 includes second priority replacements at Andrew P. Hill, Independence, James Lick, Oak Grove, Piedmont Hills, Santa Teresa, and Yerba Buena. Package D is the replacement of the main electrical switchgear and 13 load centers/substations at Independence. Switchgear and load centers are large scale circuit breaker systems for regulating, metering and controlling the high voltage power supplying the entire Independence campus. Package E is the installation of a supplemental condensing unit in the Main Kitchen at W.C. Overfelt. The installation of this unit is urgent. The supplemental condensing unit will supply cooling to the Main Kitchen thus lessoning the burden on the Multi Zone Unit, which concurrently provides conditioning to other unrelated spaces adjoining the Main Kitchen. Roof Replacements (Districtwide Project) This project replaces the roofs that have reached the end of their service lives at Andrew P. Hill, Education Center, Evergreen Valley, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, Piedmont Hills, Santa Teresa, W.C. Overfelt and Yerba Buena high schools.

3 James Lick High School Door Replacements (Districtwide Project) Replacement of exterior doors that have reached the end of their service lives, at Andrew P. Hill, Independence, James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, and W.C. Overfelt high schools. Wi-Fi 2 (Districtwide Project) Expansion of wireless internet access at campuses, including athletic fields and areas that have been limited instructional areas in the past due to the lack of internet access. Infrastructure installed in this project will provide a platform for future projects. Backend Computer System Upgrade (Districtwide Project) Delivery of a modernized private cloud solution for the District s servers. Servers will be virtualized to provide a lower cost, more energy efficient, more reliable and flexible solution. Fire Alarm Modernization (Districtwide Project) A comprehensive study and assessment of fire alarm systems at all school sites was done in The scope of this project includes an existing system to a complete modernization of a fire alarm system. Every ESUHSD site including the Education Center is expected to receive some form of improvements or corrections through this project. Delivery Method: Design-Build

8 James Lick High School Building 900 Student Center & Quad Modernization Construction Document phase continues. Drawings and specifications are currently being reviewed by Division of the State Architect (DSA) for approval. To prepare for the construction of the temporary Servery, the CM team and the James Lick Principal visited the temporary Servery in-use at Yerba Buena. The team observed the flow and logistics of the YB Servery, and discussed the experience with YB staff. The information gathered from the site visit will be used in the design of the James Lick temp Servery to help improve the experience for the students. Classroom Modernization In September, the CM team met with the James Lick Librarian and school administration to discuss the relocation of the Library and the setup of the temp Library during construction. The general construction of the Comet Studio will follow the relocation of the Library and setup of the temp Library. Storm Drain & Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure Improvements A utility mapping company was contracted in September to help identify and address the flooding issues in the Boy s restroom in Building 300. The company will clean out the sewer pipes to provide video inspection of the conditions of the pipes. The work is scheduled for a short school day in early October to minimize the disturbance to students. 9 Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades The project will take the existing multiple security camera systems currently used throughout the District and replace them with a single integrated Districtwide, internet protocol (IP) based security camera system. Existing analog cameras on every campus, including the District Office, will be removed and replaced with high definition cameras, along with the infrastructure needed to support them. These high definition cameras are capable of capturing quality daytime and nighttime footage. New cameras will be placed in locations that were previously difficult to monitor. This project is being funded by Proposition 39 Clean Energy Jobs Act; funds are being dispersed in fiscal years through Utility incentives will be an additional minor funding source for this project. Energy conservation measures include: Exterior lighting retrofits at 8 sites: Andrew P. Hill, Evergreen Valley, Foothill, Independence, Mt. Pleasant, Oak Grove, WC Overfelt, and Yerba Buena Interior lighting retrofits at 3 sites: Andrew P. Hill, Evergreen Valley, and Foothill Solar Photovoltaic facilities at 2 sites: Calero High School and Overfelt Adult Center Delivery Method: Energy Service Contract

The deduction in Measure I funding will go to the general districtwide fund to be used for other Districtwide projects.

17 Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades Camera installation was completed at W.C. Overfelt, Piedmont Hills, Overfelt Adult Center, Evergreen Valley and James Lick in early September. Installation at Santa Teresa, Independence Adult Center and Silver Creek will be completed mid-october. Final camera adjustments are in progress. At each site, the video management system will be configured and servers will be installed before the existing cameras are removed and the new cameras are installed. This will minimize gaps in coverage because cameras will be connected to the system as soon as they are installed. Swimming Pool Modernization The project is being implemented in two phases. Phase 1 pools are Santa Teresa, Mt. Pleasant and Yerba Buena. Phase 2 pools are James Lick, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, and W.C. Overfelt. Construction at each school is underway. Energy Efficiency Project Exterior light fixture upgrades are approaching completion at eight sites receiving new exterior light fixtures. Procurement and installation of some light fixtures remain. Interior light fixtures and controls installation at Evergreen Valley and Andrew Hill was completed in September. Interior lighting fixture upgrades at Foothill is underway.

18 Districtwide Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades Package B at Evergreen Valley: Fire Smoke Dampers Replacements, HVAC Gas Supply Pipe Replacement in Building G, CW/HW Valves in Building F Replacements, Replacement of Energy Management System (EMS) digital controls and cabling), Replacement of Energy Management System, HVAC Gas Supply Pipe Replacement in Building G, CW/HW Valves in Building F Replacements are complete. Engineer is revising 100% Construction Development phase drawings and a cost estimate for campus wide fire smoke dampers replacements. Documents are expected to be submitted to Facilities for review in late October. Bids for cleaning, draining and preventative maintenance work on CW/HW Valves in Building F are under review. CM will provide recommendations to District for contract award. Package C at Various Sites: Mechanical and electrical equipment replacements Construction on the replacement of 4 AHU s at Piedmont Hills is underway. The AHU's have been disassembled, moved into location, reassembled, and are being installed. The Boys Locker Room, Girls Locker Room, and 1/2 of the Main Gym will be completely installed, tested, and commissioned by the end of October. At Independence Building A, the single Package Unit has been installed and will be commissioned by mid-october. 100% Design Development phase drawings for Phase 1 Increment 2 were approved by Facilities. The District has decided to temporarily halt the design process until the District reaches a decision on funding and schedule for the remaining replacements. Package D at Independence: Replacement of "Main" 15kv switchgear, campus wide "Load Centers" (LC3 through LC12), and site UG Feeder cable Engineer is developing UG Feeder cabling details and utility vault scope. 100% Construction Document cost estimate will be completed in early October. This scope of work will test the underground feeder cable and perform preventative maintenance to switchgear so the electrical system can function until summer 2017 when all switchgear are replaced. Package E at W.C. Overfelt: Installation of New Condensing Unit in Main Kitchen Procurement has been postponed to revisit the scope. District is using engineering analysis report to evaluate scope and funding for project. Roof Replacements Construction is underway on Building F at Independence. There are a total of four roofs at the building with roof leaks. A total of 3 bid packages for Districtwide roof replacements are in development and are scheduled to be issued in Spring Early bid advertisement will be required to obtain competitive bidding. Construction will take place when school is out of session in Summer 2017.

19 Districtwide Door Replacements Construction bid documents are in development. Backend Computer System Upgrades Staff training and implementation will be completed in October. Fire Alarm Modernization The design-construction duration of this project is approximately 18 months, from May 2016 through October Design drawings and Construction Drawings for ST, SC and YB are still in progress. The Construction Documents for WCO are being prepared by Design-Build Entity (DBE) for DSA submittal. Closeout and training on the IH retrofit project were completed in September.
