17 Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades Conduit installation at Andrew P. Hill was continued through February and was completed in March. Conduit installation is in progress at Evergreen Valley and Yerba Buena. Pre-survey work at Independence is underway. During the last week of March, final adjustments were made to the angling and pointing of the new cameras at Calero. Camera installation at the Education Center is underway. At each site, the video management system will be configured and servers will be installed before the existing cameras are removed and the new cameras are installed. This will minimize gaps in coverage because cameras will be connected to the system as soon as they are installed. Swimming Pool Modernization The project is being implemented in two phases. Phase 1 pools are ST, MP and YB. Phase 2 pools are JL, PH, SC, and WCO. The modernization of the pool at Piedmont Hills will now be completed on schedule with the Phase 2 pools. Additional ADA improvements required by DSA resulted in a longer design and DSA approval period than originally anticipated. Rain storms in February delayed progress with earthwork and grading on ST, YB and MP. Sites were saturated and extra effort was expended to dry out before grading and compaction work proceeded. Demolition and abatement work at these three sites did continue in the pool mechanical buildings. Staff continued to work with Design Build Entity to develop a recovery schedule for the pools affected by the rain storms. Architect continued working on DSA's plan review comments for JL, PH, SC and WCO. Demolition was completed at JL, PH and SC during Spring Break when students and staff were not on campus. Energy Efficiency Project Design Build Entity (DBE) s field verification, final design and engineering, and final scoping for Interior Lighting work is near completion. The District s submittal review is near completion. Procurement of exterior lighting fixtures, interior lighting fixtures, solar PV electrical equipment, canopy structures and PV panels is in process. Plans and specifications for Calero and Overfelt Adult Center Solar PV projects were approved by DSA in early March. A Solar PV Pre-construction meeting was held in mid-march. Solar Canopy Structural pier drilling and placement at the two sites began in late March.

18 Districtwide Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades Package A: The new HVAC unit arrived at Santa Teresa on March 4th and was installed on the roof of Building 100 the next day. This bid package is exempt from DSA approval requirement. This package will replace (1) HVAC Unit at Independence and (4) AHU s at Piedmont HS. Equipment is being procured by the District. Equipment is expected to be received in July. Work will begin early July 2016 and is scheduled to be complete by mid-august Programming for Mechanical HVAC replacement Phase 1 Increment 2 was completed in late March and Schematic Design phase is now underway. Replacement of HVAC Units for AH Building 400 and JL s Building 600 and Building 700 were added to the project. The Increment 2 Bid Package will require full DSA review. Replacements at Andrew Hill, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, and Silver Creek will total to 68 HVAC unit replacements. Increment 2 will begin in Summer Design Development drawings for electrical upgrades at Independence were completed in March. Construction Documents are expected to be completed in May. Over Spring Break when students and staff were not on campus, a power shutdown was completed to assess electrical utility vaults and for the equipment manufacture IEM to field measure switchgear base and identify location of power cable entrance. CM is developing bid documents for a 2nd power shutdown in the Summer of 2016 from June 20, 2016 to July 7, 2016 for the purpose of testing the underground cabling and to perform preventative maintenance to switchgear. This will enable the system to get through another year before the major project replacement of switchgear campus wide is completed in the Summer of Package E: A field survey is scheduled for in early April. Development of the informal bid package for the new kitchen condensing unit at W.C. Overfelt will start in April. Roof Replacements RFP for engineering design services was completed in January. RFP was expected to be issued in March. RFP for construction management services was completed in January. RFP was expected to be issued in March.

19 Districtwide Door Replacements Construction bid documents are in development and are scheduled to be issued in April. Wi-Fi 2 This project has three phases: A, B, C. Phase A replaced all existing network access points and two new core controllers for the new network. Phase B added access points to all classrooms that previously did not have an access point, which was approximately 50% of all classrooms. Phase C will provide wireless access in the areas outside the classrooms to blanket the entire campus in wireless access including, but not limited to, sports fields and parking lots. Phases A and B are complete. Access points for Phase C installed and are awaiting activation with completion Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades. Backend Computer System Upgrades Private cloud storage, supporting software and power systems, for new virtualized servers have been installed and set up. The project will provide the computing and storage capacity to meet the District s current and anticipated needs for servers (compute power) and local document management and storage for the next 5 years. Replacement of core server and storage with new units is complete. The adoption process for document management system is complete, the implementation process is underway and is expected to be completed in August. Fire Alarm Modernization A Request for Proposal (RFP) for Design Build Entities (DBE) was issued to three shortlisted, pre-qualified DBEs in December The design-build teams are competing for award to design and construct the project. Proposals were received on February 3rd from two shortlisted DBEs. Upon preliminary review, the District determined that both proposals were above the budgeted amount for design-construction. The project was re-programmed and re-scoped to bring the base scope and priority Solicited Alternate items to be within the design-construction budget of approximately $15.6 million. The District selected the following Solicited Alternate work items based on current condition of Fire Alarm system and priority of requirements: 1. Notification and Detection Modernization at Andrew Hill 2. Notification and Detection Modernization at Independence 3. Notification and Detection Modernization at Silver Creek 4. Notification and Detection Modernization at Yerba Buena 5. Fire Alarm system Testing/Inspection/Preventive Maintenance/ Certification 6. Fire Alarm System Corrective Maintenance 7. Drafted AutoCADD drawings full and complete in vector file format. Revised proposals were received from two DBEs on March 3rd and were evaluated against the selection criteria specified in the RFP in order to identify the proposal that demonstrates the best value to the District. The best value basis of evaluation allows the District to select a DBE based on more than price alone, one of the advantages of Design Build in comparison to traditional delivery methods. A DBE was determined as providing the best value and the contract award is scheduled to be recommended to the Board of Trustees at the April 2016 board meeting.
