1 Oak Grove High School Theater Building I Modernization Modernization of the existing theater building including new lighting/av control booth, ADA improvements, new theater seating, modernization of the dressing rooms, HVAC replacement, new EMS controls, lighting upgrades, new stage curtains and a new ticket booth. Building A 2nd Floor Student Center and Quads Modernization Conversion of the second floor of building A into a new Student Center with technology enabled places for students to meet, collaborate, study, and learn. Modernization of the Quads will improve stormwater runoff and provide an outdoor educational environment that facilitates curriculum for science programs such as biology, botany, geology, geography, art programs such as photography, 2D art, and liberal arts such as English composition. Through hands-on interpretative environmental opportunities, sustainable design principles, presentation galleries and outdoor learning studios, teachers and students will use the courtyard micro-ecosystem as an evolving laboratory for their academic disciplines and as a means of understanding the hydrological, geological, geographical and biological environment of their high school campus. Buildings H1 and H2 Restrooms Modernization The restroom renovations are designed to bring these areas into compliance with access guidelines, and to provide an opportunity to introduce new restroom fixture technology. The project will provide improved facilities that provide greater comfort, easier access for all, and lower operating costs. Security Fencing Upgrade This project will supplement the existing architectural fencing, which is both a site access management tool and an appealing formalization of the campus environment. The new fencing will be similar in design to the existing fence at the front of campus. The new fencing will provide manageable control points. Infrastructure Improvements Upgrade storm drain and inlets to resolve flooding near Boys Locker Room, Administration Building A, Building H2, Building U, and at the north end of the Softball Complex. Replace underground infrastructure below pavements demolished as part of the Quad Modernization

17 Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades Preparation of electrical pathways for security cameras and the Command Center at the Education Center began in November. Contractor has installed 80% of the conduit at the Education Center, and will utilize the campus closure at Calero during the holiday break to install conduit in the ceilings above the classrooms in order to avoid disturbing instruction. Contractor will pull low voltage cable (CAT6) at the Education Center and Calero in early January. Cameras are scheduled to be installed at the Education Center and Calero by the end of January. At each site, the video management system will be configured and servers will be installed before the existing cameras are removed and the new cameras are installed. This will minimize gaps in coverage because cameras will be connected to the system as soon as they are installed. Swimming Pool Modernization The project will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1 will be ST, YB, MP, and PH. Phase 2 will be JL, WCO, and SC. DSA completed review of construction documents for Phase 1 in October. Plans for Yerba Buena and Mt. Pleasant were resubmitted and received DSA approval in December. DSA kick-off meeting and site visits are scheduled for first week of January for Yerba Buena and Mt. Pleasant. A DSA backcheck meeting is scheduled in January for Piedmont Hills and Santa Teresa. Design Builder will submit pool lighting photometrics for the 3 levels of lighting on each pool. Silver Creek requested competitive lighting so Design Builder is working on adjusting their original cost proposal. At their December meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an increase in design/build agreement for $350, to add two competition lanes to the Yerba Buena swimming pool. Demolition of Phase 1 pools, Santa Teresa, Yerba Buena and Mt. Pleasant, was completed over the holiday break when school was not in session. DSA Review of Phase 2 Construction Documents is in progress.
18 Districtwide Energy Efficiency Project Design Build Entity (DBE) continued with field verification and development of construction documents. Procuring and contracting with design consultants and subcontractors are in progress. Preliminary submittal reviews and scope clarification are in progress. Solar PV 90% CDs were reviewed with Calero and Overfelt Adult Center school administration. Approval for Calero is dependent on clarification regarding height of canopy. A firm for Inspection services and a firm for Special Inspections & Materials Testing services for the DSA portion of the work (Solar canopies) were selected and will be recommended for approval by Board of Trustees at the February meeting. Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades An existing 40 year old Multi-zone HVAC unit serving rooms 106 and 107 in Building 100 at Santa Teresa requires urgent replacement and is being handled separately in order to expedite the replacement. The new HVAC unit was ordered and fabrication of the new unit is expected to be completed in mid-march. The replacement of fire smoke dampers at the end of their service lives at Evergreen Valley will now be delivered with the District Wide Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades project. This scope of work was formerly under the scope for Evergreen Valley s Infrastructure Improvements project, but it was determined that economy of scope and scale will be best achieved by delivering this scope of work with this project. A contractor to perform digital mechanical controls equipment replacement and upgrade at Evergreen Valley was selected In December. Contract award will be recommended for approval to the Board of Trustees at January meeting. The scope of work at Evergreen Valley is to modernize the existing redundant Alerton EMS system and integrate existing controls into the new modernized EMS system. Schematic design is underway for Districtwide HVAC equipment and electrical switchgear replacements. Roof Replacements RFP for engineering design services was completed. RFP for construction management services is in development and is scheduled to be issued in January. Door Replacements Construction bid documents are in development. Bid documents for construction are scheduled to be issued in early February.
19 Districtwide Wi-Fi 2 This project has three phases: A, B, C. Phase A replaced all existing network access points and two new core controllers for the new network. Phase B added access points to all classrooms that previously did not have an access point, which was approximately 50% of all classrooms. Phase C will provide wireless access in the areas outside the classrooms to blanket the entire campus in wireless access including, but not limited to, sports fields and parking lots. Phases A and B are complete. Phase C is in progress. Backend Computer System Upgrades Private cloud storage, supporting software and power systems, for new virtualized servers have been installed and set up. The project will provide the computing and storage capacity to meet the District s current and anticipated needs for servers (compute power) and local document management and storage for the next 5 years. Replacement of core server and storage with new units is in progress. The adoption process for document management has begun and IT expects to extend selected system into January for adoption and installation. Fire Alarm Modernization Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for Design Build Entities (DBE) was issued in late August. Qualifications received from interested DBEs in response to the RFQ were reviewed, and the District shortlisted 3 DBEs. Scope of work at each campus and the technical fire alarm design criteria being prepared by Interface Engineering, Inc. were finalized. Concurrently, the CM was preparing the District s front end design build documents. The RFP was finalized in mid-december and was issued to the shortlisted DBEs on December 17th to solicit proposals to design and construct the project. Proposals received from these qualified short-listed DBEs in response to the RFP will be evaluated against the selection criteria specified in the RFP in order to identify the proposal that demonstrates the best value to the District. The best value basis of evaluation allows the District to select a DBE based on more than price alone, one of the advantages of Design Build in comparison to traditional delivery methods. Once the proposal with the highest score is determined, the District may elect to hold discussions or negotiations with that DBE in order to achieve a resulting Best and Final Proposal. Contract award is scheduled to be recommended to the Board of Trustees at the April 2016 board meeting. Components and devices made by Gamewell-FCI Fire Alarm Systems were approved at the December Board meeting as the only acceptable material, product, thing or service for modernization and new construction projects that are part of the District s Capital Construction Program. Designating a sole source supplier will save significant costs by implementing products compatible with the District s current systems in connection with the District s Capital Construction Program, which will also enhance efficiency in operation, service and maintenance. Independence High School Fire Alarm Retrofit Panels A PG&E brown out caused the aged fire alarm system panels at Independence to malfunction beyond repair. Interface Engineering, who is already on the Fire Alarm Modernization project creating the criteria documents, is overseeing the installation at Independence. 34 fire alarm control unit retrofit panels were installed and programmed. Recertification testing was completed in mid-december..
