2 Indoor Unit Overview nd Opertions Intke grille Before strting opertion, mke sure tht the intke grille hs een shut completely. Incomplete closing might hve n effect on the proper working or performnce of the product. Mnul AUTO utton Use when you lost the remote controller or remote control mlfunction occurs. Bttery (AAA/R0/LR0 ) loding 7 ECONOMY indictor (green) Lights in ECONOMY opertion. 8 TIMER indictor (ornge) Lights in TIMER opertion, nd links slowly when the timer setting error is detected. As for the timer setting error, refer to Auto-restrt function on pge. 9 OPERATION indictor (green) Lights in norml opertion, nd links slowly in utomtic defrosting opertion. 0 Horizontl irflow direction louvers Before you djust the horizontl irflow direction, mke sure tht the verticl irflow direction louver hs een stopped completely. Adjust two knos y hnd. Notes: Use specified type of ttery only. Do not use new ttery nd used ttery together. Btteries cn e used out yer in ordinry use. 3 AIR CONDITIONER Wll Mounted Type Remote Controller Overview nd Opertions To prevent mlfunction or dmge of the remote controller: --Plce remote controller t where will not e exposed to direct sunlight or excessive het. --Remove tteries if the product is not going to e used for n extended period. --Exhusted tteries must e removed immeditely, nd e disposed ccording to the locl lws nd regultions of your region. If leking ttery fluid comes in contct with your skin, eyes, or mouth, immeditely rinse with plenty of clen wter, nd consult your physicin. Do not pour wter on the remote controller. Do not ttempt to rechrge dry tteries. You cn quickly strt the opertion with following steps: START/STOP utton MODE utton Switches opertion mode in following order. AUTO COOL DRY FAN HEAT Notes in HEAT mode: At the eginning of the opertion, the indoor unit opertes t very low fn speed for out 5 minutes for preprtion, nd then switches to the selected fn speed. Automtic defrosting opertion overrides the heting opertion when it is necessry. SET TEMP. (temperture) uttons Set desired temperture. Temperture setting rnge AUTO 80 C COOL/DRY 80 C HEAT 60 C *:Temperture control is not ville in FAN mode. FAN utton Controls the fn speed. AUTO HIGH MED LOW QUIET When AUTO is selected, the fn speed is utomticlly djusted ccording to the opertion mode. 5 SET utton Adjusts the verticl irflow direction. 6 SWING utton Strts or stops utomtic swing of the verticl irflow direction louver. Ech time you press the utton, the verticl irflow direction louver swings s follows: COOL or DRY mode HEAT mode Note: SWING opertion my stop temporrily when the fn in the unit is rotting t very low speed or stopping RESET utton When you press the RESET utton, press it gently y using the tip of llpoint pen or other smll oject in correct direction s shown in this figure. 4 Remote Controller Overview nd Opertions Progrm timer (comined use of the ON timer nd the OFF timer) You cn set n integrted ONOFF or OFFON timer s follows: ONOFF OFFON Set the ON timer first. Then set the OFF timer y the ir conditioner strts opertion controlled with the ON timer erlier set. Set the OFF timer first. Then set the ON timer y the ir conditioner stops opertion controlled with the OFF timer erlier set. The timer tht is set lter strts counting down fter the counting down of the preceding timer is finished. Note: If you chnge the setting vlue for the timer fter the progrm timer is set, the counting down of the timer will e reset t tht moment. SLEEP TIMER utton Ech time you press the utton, the time chnges s follows: hours CANCEL Set the time while the indictor on the remote controller disply is linking. To repet the timer, press the utton when the indictor is not displyed. To help you to fll sleep comfortly nd prevent excessive wrming or cooling in sleep, the SLEEP timer controls the temperture setting utomticlly in ccordnce with the set time shown s follows. The ir conditioner completely turns off fter the set time hs elpsed. In HEAT mode 0 min. hour.5 hour Set time Set temperture In COOL or DRY mode hour Set time Note for TIMER settings: Any interruption of the power supply, such s lckout or cutting off of circuit reker, mkes the set internl clock go wrong. In such cse, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit links, nd you need to redjust the setting. TEST RUN utton Only used for the initil test in the unit instlltion. Do not press this utton under norml use ecuse it will cuse incorrect opertion. During the test run, the OPERATION indictor nd the TIMER indictor link simultneously. To quit the test run tht is strted unintentionlly, you need to turn off the ir conditioner y pressing the START/STOP utton. ECONOMY utton Strts or stops ECONOMY opertion tht sves more electricity consumption thn the other opertions with conservtive djustment of the room temperture. When you press the utton, the ECONOMY indictor on the indoor unit turns on. In COOL mode, the room temperture will e djusted t few degree higher thn the defined temperture. In HEAT mode, the room temperture will e djusted t few degree lower thn the defined temperture. Especilly in COOL mode, you cn hve improved dehumidifiction without significntly lowering the room temperture. Notes: In COOL or HEAT mode, the mximum output of this opertion is pproximtely 70 % of usul ir conditioning opertion. This opertion cnnot e performed during temperture monitoring y AUTO mode. POWERFUL utton Strts POWERFUL opertion tht enles quick cooling down or wrming up of the room. When you press the utton to strt the POWERFUL opertion, the indoor unit emits short eeps. POWERFUL opertion is utomticlly turned off in the following situtions: Adjusted room temperture reched to the defined temperture in temperture setting in COOL, DRY, or HEAT mode. 0 minutes hve pssed fter finishing the POWERFUL opertion mode setting. It is not turned off utomticlly during setting of the POWERFUL opertion. Notes: The irflow direction nd the fn speed re controlled utomticlly. This opertion cnnot e performed simultneously with ECONOMY opertion. To return to norml opertion, press the utton gin. Then the indoor unit emits short eeps. 5 Remote controller disply In this section, ll the possile indictors re displyed for description. In ctul opertion, the disply is linked with the utton opertion, nd only shows the necessry indictors for ech setting. 6 Signl trnsmitter Aim to signl receiver of the indoor unit properly. Signl trnsmit indictor on the remote controller disply shows tht signl from the remote controller is eing trnsmitted. Operting rnge is pproximtely 7 m. You will her eep if the trnsmitted signl hs een sent properly. If there is no eep, press the utton on the remote controller gin. Automtic defrosting opertion When outdoor temperture is very low with high humidity, frost my form on the outdoor unit during the heting opertion, nd it could reduce the operting performnce of the product. For frost protection, microcomputer-controlled utomtic defrost function is equipped in this ir conditioner. If frost forms, the ir conditioner will temporrily stop, nd defrost circuit will operte riefly (mximum of 5 minutes.) OPERATION indictor on the indoor unit links during this opertion. If frost forms on the outdoor unit fter the heting opertion, the outdoor unit will stop utomticlly fter it opertes for few minutes. Then the utomtic defrosting opertion strts. Auto-restrt function In event of power interruption such s lckout, the ir conditioner stops once. But it restrts utomticlly nd performs previous opertion when the power supply is resumed. If ny power interruption occurs fter the timer is set, counting down of the timer will e reset. After the power supply is resumed, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit links to notify you tht there hs een timer fult. In such cse, reset the timer for your opportune time. Mlfunctions cused y other electricl devices: Use of other electricl pplinces such s n electric shver or nery use of wireless rdio trnsmitter my cuse the mlfunction of the ir conditioner. If you encounter such mlfunction, turn off the circuit reker once. Then turn it on gin, nd resume opertion y using the remote controller. En-

Before strting opertion, mke sure tht the intke grille hs een shut completely. Incomplete closing of the intke grille might hve n effect on the proper working or performnce of the ir conditioner. Do not touch the luminum fins of het exchnger uilt-in the indoor unit to void personl injury when you mintin the unit. Do not expose the indoor unit to liquid insecticides or hir sprys. Dily cre When clening the indoor unit ody, mind the following: Do not use wter hotter thn 0 C. Do not use scouring clenser, voltile solvents such s enzene or thinner. Wipe the unit gently y using soft cloth. Clening the intke grille Open the intke grille in direction of the rrow. While gently pressing the left nd right mounting shfts of the intke grille outwrd, remove the intke grille in direction of the rrow c. Clening the ir filters Mind tht you hve periodicl clening of the ir filters to prevent reducing the opertion efficiency of the product. Using of clogged ir filter with dust will lower the product performnce, nd my cuse irflow reduction or increse of operting noise. Clen the ir filters once every weeks under norml use. Pull up the hndle of the filter in direction of the rrow nd relese the clws. Then pull the filter out with gently sliding it downwrd c. c c c Remove dust y using vcuum clener or y wshing the filter. When you wsh the filter, use neutrl household detergent nd wrm wter. After rinse the filter well, dry it throughly in shded plce efore you reinstll it. Attch the ir filter with ligning oth side of the filter with the pnel, nd push in the filter fully. Note: Mke sure tht clws re firmly snpped to the guide holes on the pnel. Wsh the intke grille gently with wter or wipe it gently with soft cloth moisten with wrm wter. Then wipe it with dry nd soft cloth. While holding the grille horizontl, set the left nd right mounting shfts into the pillow locks t the top of the pnel. To ltch ech shft properly, insert the shft until it snps. Then close the intke grille. After extended non-use of the unit If you hve shut down the indoor unit for month or more, perform the FAN opertion for hlf dy to dry the internl prts throughly efore you perform norml opertion. Additionl inspection After long period of use, ccumulted dust inside the indoor unit my reduce the product performnce even if you hve mintined the unit with instructed dily cre or clening procedures written in this mnul. In such cse, the product inspection is recommended. For more informtion, consult uthorized service personnel. Press plces on the intke grille to close it completely. En-5

6 Trouleshooting WARNING In the event of mlfunction such s urning smell, immeditely stop opertion of the ir conditioner, nd disconnect ll the power supply y turning off the electricl reker or disconnecting the power plug. Then consult uthorized service personnel. As long s the unit is connected to the power supply, it is not insulted from the power supply even if the unit is turned off. Following symptoms do not indicte the product mlfunction, ut they re norml functions or chrcteristics of this product. Symptom Cuse See pge Opertion is delyed fter restrt. Noise is herd. Smell coming from the unit. Mist or stem is emitted from the unit. Airflow is wek or stops. Outdoor unit emits wter. To prevent lowout of the fuse, the compressor will not operte during the protection circuit is working for out minutes fter sudden OFF ON opertion of the power supply. During the opertion or immeditely fter stopping the ir conditioner, refrigernt flowing sound my e herd. And it is prticulrly noticele for minutes fter strting opertion. During the opertion, slight squeking sound produced y the minute expnsion nd contrction of the front pnel cused y temperture chnge my e herd. During heting opertion, sizzling sound produced y the utomtic defrosting opertion my e herd. Asored room smell generted from interior textile, furniture, or cigrette smoke into the ir conditioner my e emitted. In COOL or DRY mode, thin mist generted y condenstion formed with sudden cooling process my e emitted. During heting opertion, the fn uilt-in the outdoor unit my stops nd rising stem generted y the utomtic defrosting opertion my e seen. Immeditely fter the heting opertion is strted, the fn speed stys temporrily very low to wrm up the internl prts of the unit. In HEAT mode, the outdoor unit stops nd the indoor unit opertes t very low fn speed if the room temperture rises ove the set temperture. In HEAT mode, the indoor unit temporrily stops for mximum of 5 minutes to perform the utomtic defrosting opertion while the OPERATION indictor is flshing. In DRY mode, the indoor unit opertes t low fn speed to djust the room humidity, nd my stop from time to time. When the fn speed is set to QUIET, the fn rottes t very low speed nd the irflow is reduced. When monitoring opertion is performed in AUTO mode, the fn rottes t very low speed. During heting opertion, the outdoor unit my emit wter generted y the utomtic defrosting opertion. Before you cll for or request servicing, trouleshoot prolem y performing following checks: Symptom Dignostic See pge Does not operte t ll. Poor cooling or heting performnce. The unit opertes differently from the remote controller setting. Hs the circuit reker een turned off? Hs there een power outge? Hs fuse lown out or the circuit reker een tripped? Is the intke grille closed completely? 5 Is the timer operting?, Is the ir filter dirty? 5 Is the intke grill or outlet port of indoor unit locked? Is the room temperture djusted ppropritely? Is window or door left opened? Is direct or strong sunlight shinning into the room in cooling opertion? Are there other heting pprtus or computers operting, or too mny people in the room in cooling opertion? Is the fn speed set to QUIET? Are the tteries used in the remote controller exhusted? Are the tteries used in the remote controller loded properly? Immeditely stop opertion nd turn off the electricl reker in following cses. Then consult uthorized service personnel. The prolem persists even if you perform these checks or dignostics. The OPERATION indictor nd TIMER indictor link while the ECONOMY indictor is linking fst. En-6
