Unplug the power supply cle when not using the indoor unit for n extended period. After long period of use, check whether the instlltion stnd does not deteriorte to prevent the unit from flling down. The irfl ow direction nd the room temperture should e crefully considered when you use this product in room with infnts, children, elderly or sick persons. Do not direct the irfl ow t fi replces or heting pprtus. Do not lock or cover the intke grille nd the outlet port. Do not pply ny hevy pressure to rditor fi ns. Do not clim on, plce ojects on, or hng ojects from the unit. Do not plce vse or wter continer on the unit. Do not plce ny other electricl products or household elongings under indoor unit or outdoor unit. Dripping condenstion from the unit might get them wet, nd my cuse dmge or mlfunction of your property. Do not expose the unit directly to wter. ( ) uttons, the time indictor cn e chnged from -hour to -hour clock. 7 Press NEXT utton to continue. 8 Set the time y pressing SELECT utton. Pressing or chnges the vlue y the minute. Pressing down on or chnges the vlue y 0 minutes. To complete, press the SEND utton close to the indoor unit. Settings my not e properly sent if pressed from distnce. Keeping the position -8 during COOL or DRY mode my cuse condenstion to form, nd the drops my dmge your property. 6 Power diffuser In conjunction with movement of the verticl irfl ow direction louver, the ngle of the power diffuser moves s follows: Verticl irflow direction louver Power diffuser ECONOMY indictor (green) Lights in ECONOMY opertion nd in 0 C HEAT opertion. TIMER indictor (ornge) Lights in TIMER opertion, nd links slowly when the timer setting error is detected. For detils, refer to Auto-restrt function on pge. 4 Remote Controller Overview nd Opertions To prevent mlfunction or dmge of the remote controller: - Plce remote controller t where will not e exposed to direct sunlight or excessive het. - Remove tteries if the product is not going to e used for n extended period. - Exhusted tteries must e removed immeditely, nd e disposed ccording to the locl lws nd regultions of your region. If leking ttery fl uid comes in contct with your skin, eyes, or mouth, immeditely rinse with plenty of clen wter, nd consult your physicin. Do not pour wter on the remote controller You cn quickly strt opertion with the following steps: START/STOP utton MODE utton Switches opertion mode in following order. AUTO COOL DRY FAN HEAT Notes in HEAT mode: At the eginning of the opertion, the indoor unit opertes t very low fn speed for out minutes for preprtion, then switches to the selected fn speed. Automtic defrosting opertion overrides the heting opertion when necessry. TEMP. (temperture) uttons Sets the desired temperture. In COOL or DRY mode, the temperture needs to e set lower thn the current room temperture. In HEAT mode, the temperture needs to e set higher thn the current room temperture. Otherwise, corresponding opertion mode my not strt. Temperture setting rnge AUTO/COOL/DRY 80 C HEAT 60 C Temperture control is not ville in FAN mode. Remote controller disply In this section, ll the possile indictors re displyed for description. In ctul opertion, the disply is linked with the utton opertion, nd only shows the necessry indictors for ech setting. POWERFUL utton Activtes the POWERFUL opertion. The unit will operte t mximum power nd strong irfl ow to quickly cool down or wrm up the room. When ctivted, the indoor unit will emit short eeps. To turn off, press the POWERFUL utton gin. The indoor unit will then emit short eeps. POWERFUL opertion is utomticlly turned off in the following situtions: Adjusted room temperture reches the set temperture in COOL, DRY, or HEAT mode. 0 minutes hve pssed fter the POWERFUL opertion mode hs een set. Even in situtions ove, the POWERFUL opertion will not utomticlly turn off unless it hs run for certin mount of time. The irfl ow direction nd the fn speed re controlled utomticlly. This opertion cnnot e performed simultneously with ECONOMY opertion. POWERFUL opertion will override the OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE, ENERGY SAVING functions. Both functions, if set, will strt fter the POWERFUL opertion is turned off. 6 0 C HEAT utton Strts 0 C HEAT opertion tht minins the room temperture t 0 C so s to prevent the room temperture to drop too low. After pressing the utton to strt the 0 C HEAT opertion, the indoor unit emits short eeps nd the ECONOMY indictor (green) will turn on. To turn off, press the START/STOP utton. The Economy indictor will turn off. In 0 C HEAT opertion mode, only the verticl irfl ow direction cn e djusted y using the SET utton. 5 Remote Controller Overview nd Opertions (continued) AIR CONDITIONER Wll Mounted Type 7 Signl trnsmitter Aim t the signl receiver of the indoor unit properly. Signl trnsmit indictor on the remote controller disply shows tht the signl from the remote controller is eing trnsmitted. Operting rnge is pproximtely 7 m. You will her eep if the trnsmitted signl hs een sent properly. If there is no eep, press the utton on the remote controller gin. 8 FAN utton Controls the fn speed. (AUTO) (HIGH) (MED) (LOW) (QUIET) When AUTO is selected, the fn speed is utomticlly djusted ccording to the opertion mode. SWING utton Sets the utomtic swing opertion. Ech time the SWING utton is pressed, the opertion will chnge. Up/down Left/right Up/down/left/right Stop swing The Left/right swing opertion will follow the direction s shown on pge "Horizontl irfl ow direction louver" The Up/down Swing opertion rnge will differ y mode s follows: COOL, DRY, or FAN mode HEAT or FAN mode SWING opertion my stop temporrily when the indoor unit fn is rotting t very low speed or is stopped. In FAN mode, the Up/down swing opertion rnge of or 6 8 is decided ccording to the irfl ow direction previously set efore strting the swing opertion. 0 Verticl SET utton Adjusts the verticl irfl ow direction. Horizontl SET utton Adjusts the horizontl irfl ow direction. WEEKLY timer utton See pge See pge See pge 6 Activtes the WEEKLY timer for mximum of on or off progrms per dy, ech dy of the week. SLEEP timer utton See pge 6 Activtes the SLEEP timer tht helps you to fll sleep comfortly with grdul temperture control. ON/OFF timer utton See pge 6 Activtes the ON/OFF timer. NEXT utton Used for djusting the timer setting. 6 BACK utton Used for djusting the timer setting. 7 RESET utton When you press the RESET utton, press it gently y using the tip of llpoint pen or other smll oject in correct direction s shown in this fi gure. 8 CLOCK ADJUST utton Used for djusting the clock. SEND utton Used for sending the timer/clock setting. 0 TIMER SETTING utton Used to enter the timer setting mode. SELECT utton Used for djusting the clock or timer. OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE utton See pge See pge 6 Strts or stops OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE opertion tht lowers noise generted from the outdoor unit y cutting down the rottion numer of the compressor, nd suppressing the fn speed. Once the opertion is set, the setting is preserved until you press this utton gin to stop the opertion, even if the indoor unit opertion is stopped. on the remote controller disply shows tht the unit is in OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE mode. This opertion cnnot e performed simultneously with FAN, DRY nd POWERFUL opertion modes. ECONOMY utton Strts or stops ECONOMY opertion tht sves more electricity thn other opertion modes y chnging the set temperture to moderte setting. By pressing the ECONOMY utton, the ECONOMY indictor on the indoor unit turns on. In COOL or DRY mode, the room temperture will e djusted few degrees higher thn the set temperture. In HEAT mode, the room temperture will e djusted few degrees lower thn the set temperture. In COOL, HEAT, or DRY mode, the mximum output of this opertion is pproximtely 70 % of usul ir conditioning opertion. This opertion cnnot e performed during temperture monitoring y AUTO mode. SENSOR utton (ENERGY SAVING PROGRAM) See pge 8 Activtes or dectivtes the energy sving progrm. * The Energy Sving progrm is ON t the time of purchse. : The setting must e done while the setting screen is displyed for ech function. : The utton is controllle only when the ir conditioner is on. 6 Timer Opertion Note for timer settings: Any interruption of the power supply, such s lckout or cutting off of circuit reker, mkes the set internl clock go wrong. In such cse, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit links, nd you need to redjust the setting. ON timer or OFF timer You cn set the ON timer or OFF timer with the following steps. Press the TIMER SETTING utton to strt the setting. The WEEKLY indictor will e fl shing on the remote controller. Press the SELECT utton to choose the desired mode. The mode will chnge s follows: WEEKLY ON/OFF (ON) ON/OFF (OFF) ON/OFF (ON OFF) SLEEP (OFF) WEEKLY timer ON nd OFF timer cn e comined, nd up to reservtions (progrm ) per dy nd 8 reservtions per week. Before setting the progrm, plese set the week nd time of the ir conditioner fi rst. If the week nd time re not set, the weekly timer will not operte correctly t the set time. Plese refer to "remote controller preprtion" (pge ). Exmple of WEEKLY timer Press the NEXT utton. Continue to setting for ech mode. * To cncel timer setting during the setting process, press the TIMER SETTING utton gin. Adjust the time y pressing the SELECT utton while the clock indictor is linking. Ech time you press the utton, the time will chnge y +/- minutes. Pressing down will chnge the time y +0/-0 minutes. Press the SEND utton. (Select ON OFF in Step ) If you chnge the setting vlue for the timer fter the progrm timer is set, the counting down of the timer will e reset t tht moment. Time setting for ech comintion should e within spn of hours. SLEEP timer To set the SLEEP timer, fi rst follow steps ~ for the ON/OFF timer. Adjust the time y pressing the SELECT utton while the clock indictor is linking. Ech time you press the utton, the time chnges s follows: 0H 0M (0 min.) H 00M H 00M Press the SEND utton. H 00M H 00M 7H 00M H 00M hours To cncel the SLEEP timer, press the SLEEP utton while the SLEEP indictor is on. (Erses the indictor) To help you to fll sleep comfortly nd prevent excessive wrming or cooling in sleep, the SLEEP timer controls the temperture setting utomticlly in ccordnce with the set time shown s follows. The ir conditioner completely turns off fter the set time hs elpsed. Even if you set to 0, 6, or 7 C, if you run the product on AUTO, COOL, or DRY, it will run t 8 C. Opertions modes other thn the temperture setting will e the sme t the lst time opertion ws stopped, so Cooling Heting Cooling Heting type of opertions cnnot e utomticlly set. If you set the ON timer nd OFF timer on the sme time, the ir conditioner will run the ON timer. If two ON timer re set t the sme time, the ir conditioner will run in the order of the progrm numer. If there is power interruption, such s due to power outge during the WEEKLY timer setting or circuit reker cutting out, the internl timer of the ir-conditioning will e incorrect. (See pge "Auto-restrt".) In such cse, the min timer lmp will notify you of this y fl shing, so crry out mtching of the time nd dte. (See pge "remote controller preprtion".) You cnnot use the WEEKLY timer together with the other timers. Press the SEND utton to fi nish Press the NEXT utton. 6 Press the SELECT utton to set the desired ON time or OFF time. If you selected OFF in step. Press the NEXT utton to go ck to step nd confi gure the next setting.. Press the SEND utton. 7 8 Press the NEXT utton. Press the SELECT utton to set the temperture. If you wnt to move on to the next setting, press the NEXT utton, return to step nd confi gure the next setting. To complete the setting, press the SEND utton. If you wnt to cncel the setting midwy, plese press the TIMER SETTING utton insted of pressing the SEND utton. When cnceling the WEEKLY timer, select No Timer Opertion in Step in the WEEKLY timer setting. If you wnt to go ck to the previous step when confi guring settings, press the BACK utton to return to the previous step. Press the SEND utton, when you re close to the min unit. If you do so when fr from the min unit, the signl my not get properly sent, nd the settings my not get properly confi gured. To check the schedule, repet steps to to enter the WEEKLY timer mode, then use the SELECT utton to rowse through the WEEKLY timer settings in the order shown in step. 8 Humn Sensor (Energy Sving) To prevent wste of electricity, this function controls the temperture setting when no one is occupying the room. Energy Sving progrm is on t the time of purchse. To ctivte the Energy Sving progrm, press the SENSOR utton. indictor will e fl shing on the remote controller disply. To dectivte the Energy Sving progrm, press the SENSOR utton gin. will no longer e shown on the remote controller disply. Aout the ENERGY SAVING Opertion If no one enters the room for pproximtely 0 minutes, the set temperture will e utomticlly controlled. (When someone comes ck into the room, the humn sensor will detect this, nd utomticlly revert to the originl settings.) Opertion mode COOL/DRY HEAT AUTO Operting detils (if there is no one in the room for while) The set temperture will e incresed y mximum of pproximtely C. The set temperture will e decresed y mximum of pproximtely C. This runs the ENERGY SAVING function utomticlly for the selected mode (Cooling/ Heting/ Drying). When using together with the SLEEP timer (pge 6), the SLEEP timer will e prioritized. During 0 C HEAT opertion, if there is no one in the room the set temperture will not e chnged. Demnd Response nd Indoor Unit Opertion Appliction rnge is follows. Verticl ngle 0 (Side view) 7 m 0 Horizontl ngle 00 (Top view) 7 m 0 0 ENERGY SAVING function my not work when the room temperture is very different from the temperture defi ned in temperture setting, such s when immeditely fter strting the opertion. Aout the HUMAN SENSOR Detils out detection with the humn sensor The humn sensor detects whether there re people in the room y looking for movement y people in the room. Notice Since the humn sensor detects infrred light given out y people, there my e cses where this detection is incorrect. Situtions in which the sensor will detect no people in the room, even when there is someone there When the temperture is high nd the difference with etween people s ody temperture is smll. (Such s during the summer when the temperture is 0 C or higher) When there is someone in the room, ut they do not move for long period of time. When someone is hidden ehind sof, other furniture, glss, or in similr situtions. When someone is wering extremely thick clothing nd hs their ck fcing the sensor. Situtions in which the sensor will incorrectly detect people in the room, even when there is no one there When there is dog or ct moving round in the room. When the wind is mking curtins or plnts move. When there re heting units, humidifi ers, or electric pplinces such s oscillting electric fns operting. This product is designed to e comptile with Air Conditioning Demnd Response progrm. To utilize the function, you need seprte rrngement with your electricity supplier. Plese check vilility in the plce of use. Note: Stopping the opertion of the ir conditioner y using the remote controller or y OFF timer re vlid in DR mode. If the timer opertion is interfered y n interruption of power supply such s lckout nd the power supply is resumed, no indiction of the DR mode is performed. For frost protection, microcomputer-controlled utomtic defrost function is equipped in this ir conditioner. If frost forms, the ir conditioner will temporrily stop, nd defrost circuit will operte riefl y (mximum of minutes.) OPERATION indictor on the indoor unit links during this opertion. If frost forms on the outdoor unit fter the heting opertion, the outdoor unit will stop utomticlly fter it opertes for few minutes. Then the utomtic defrosting opertion strts. Heting performnce This ir conditioner opertes on the het-pump principle, soring het from ir outdoors nd trnsferring tht het to the indoor unit. As result, the operting performnce is reduced s outdoor ir temperture drops. If you feel tht the heting performnce is insuffi cient, we recommend you to use this ir conditioner in conjunction with other kinds of heting pplince. Auto-restrt function In event of power interruption such s lckout, the ir conditioner stops once. But it restrts utomticlly nd performs previous opertion when the power supply is resumed. If ny power interruption occurs fter the timer is set, counting down of the timer will e reset. After the power supply is resumed, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit links to notify you tht there hs een timer fult. In such cse, reset the timer for your opportune time. Mlfunctions cused y other electricl devices: Use of other electricl pplinces such s n electric shver or nery use of wireless rdio trnsmitter my cuse the mlfunction of the ir conditioner. If you encounter such mlfunction, turn off the circuit reker once. Then turn it on gin, nd resume opertion y using the remote controller. Temperture nd Humidity Rnge Permissile rnges of temperture nd humidity re s follows: COOL/DRY Indoor temperture Aout 8 C to C Indoor humidity Below pproximtely 80%. If the ir conditioner is used continuously for mny hours, wter my condense on the surfce nd drip. HEAT Indoor temperture Aout 6 C to 0 C If the unit is used under higher temperture conditions thn those noted here, the utomtic protection circuit my operte, interrupting the opertion. If the unit is used under lower temperture conditions thn those noted here, the het exchnger my freeze, cusing wter lekge or other mlfunction. 10 Cre nd Clening Before clening the indoor unit, e sure to turn it off nd ll the power supply hs een disconnected. Before strting opertion, mke sure tht the intke grille hs een shut completely. Incomplete closing of the intke grille might hve n effect on the proper working or performnce of the ir conditioner. Do not touch the luminum fi ns of het exchnger uilt-in the indoor unit to void personl injury when you mintin the unit. Do not expose the indoor unit to liquid insecticides or hir sprys. Do not stnd on slippery, uneven or unstle surfces when you mintin the unit. Dily cre When clening the indoor unit ody, mind the following: Do not use wter hotter thn 0 C. Do not use scouring clenser, voltile solvents such s enzene or thinner. Wipe the unit gently y using soft cloth. Clening the intke grille Open the intke grille in direction of the rrow. While gently pressing the left nd right mounting shfts of the intke grille outwrd, remove the intke grille in direction of the rrow c. Clening the ir filters Mind tht you hve periodicl clening of the ir fi lters to prevent reducing the opertion effi ciency of the product. Using of clogged ir filter with dust will lower the product performnce, nd my cuse irfl ow reduction or increse of operting noise. Clen the ir fi lters once every weeks under norml use. Open the intke grille. (Refer to of step in Clening the intke grille.) While holding the intke grille with your hnd, pull up the hndle of the filter in direction of the rrow nd relese the clws. Then pull the filter out with gently sliding it downwrd c. c c c Filter holder nd ir clening fi lter re ttched on the rer side of the ir filter. Remove them from the ir fi lter y unltching ech corner of the fi lter holder d. d d Wsh the intke grille gently with wter or wipe it gently with soft cloth moisten with wrm wter. Then wipe it with dry nd soft cloth. While holding the grille horizontl, set the left nd right mounting shfts into the pillow locks t the top of the pnel. To ltch ech shft properly, insert the shft until it snps. Then close the intke grille. d Remove dust y using vcuum clener or y wshing the fi lter. When you wsh the fi lter, use neutrl household detergent nd wrm wter. After rinse the filter well, dry it throughly in shded plce efore you reinstll it. Attch the ir clening fi lter nd the fi lter holder to ech ir fi lter. d 6 Attch the ir filter with ligning oth side of the filter with the front pnel, nd push in the fi lter fully. Note: Mke sure tht clws re fi rmly snpped to the guide holes on the pnel. 7 Close the intke grille fi rmly. (Refer to step in Clening the intke grille.) Relese ltches of the fi lter holder, nd turn over the holder in direction of rrow. Remove the soiled ir clening fi lter c. Note: Air clening fi lter is ttched on ech ir fi lter. Following types of ir clening filters re used in this product. When you replce them, purchse dedicted ir clening fi lters for this product. Apple-ctechin filter: UTR-FA6 ( sheet) The Apple-ctechin fi lter uses sttic electricity to clen fi ne prticles nd dust in the ir such s tocco smoke nd plnt pollen tht re too smll to see. This fi lter is disposle. Do not wsh or reuse it. Once you open the pckge, use it s soon s possile. The clening effect is reduced if the filter is left with the pckge opened. Replce the fi lter once every months under norml use. By setting the fn speed high, the ir clening effect increses. Ion deodoriztion filter: UTR-FA6-6 c Attch new or mintined ir clening fi lter d to the fi lter holder. New ir clening fi lter cn e ttched to either of the right holder or the left holder. d Ltch corners of the fi lter holder e to the ir fi lter fi rmly. e Reinstll the ir fi lter. (Refer to step 6 in Clening the ir fi lter.) Close the intke grille fi rmly. (Refer to step in Clening the intke grille on pge 0.) e (Light lue, sheet) The fi lter deodorizes y powerfully decomposing sored odors using the oxidizing nd reducing effects of ions generted y the ultr-fine-prticle cermic. To mintin the deodorizing effect, clen the fi lter once every months s follows:. Remove the fi lter.. Flush the fi lter with high-pressure hot wter until the surfce of the filter is covered with wter.. Wsh the fi lter gently with diluent nuetrl detergent. Do not wsh it y wringing or ruing to prevent reducing the deodorizing effect y dmge.. Rinse the fi lter well with wter fl ow.. Dry the fi lter throughly in shded plce. 6. Reinstll the fi lter to the indoor unit. Replce the fi lter once every yers under norml use. After extended non-use of the unit If you hve shut down the indoor unit for month or more, perform the FAN opertion for hlf dy to dry the internl prts throughly efore you perform norml opertion. Additionl inspection After long period of use, ccumulted dust inside the indoor unit my reduce the product performnce even if you hve mintined the unit with instructed dily cre or clening procedures written in this mnul. In COOL or DRY mode, thin mist generted y condenstion formed with sudden cooling process my e emitted. During heting opertion, the fn uilt-in the outdoor unit my stop nd rising stem generted y the utomtic defrosting opertion my e seen. Immeditely fter the heting opertion is strted, the fn speed stys very low temporrily to wrm up the internl prts of the unit. In HEAT mode, the outdoor unit stops nd the indoor unit opertes t very low fn speed if the room temperture rises ove the set temperture. In HEAT mode, the indoor unit temporrily stops for mximum of minutes to perform the utomtic defrosting opertion while the OPERATION indictor is fl shing. In DRY mode, the indoor unit opertes t low fn speed to djust the room humidity, nd my stop from time to time. When the fn speed is set to QUIET, the fn rottes t very low speed nd the irfl ow is reduced. In COOL mode, the indoor unit fn my stop from time to time when the outdoor unit is stopped. When monitoring opertion is performed in AUTO mode, the fn rottes t very low speed. During heting opertion, the outdoor unit my emit wter generted y the utomtic defrosting opertion. The unit opertes differently from the remote controller setting. Is the fn speed set to QUIET? When the fn speed setting is set to QUIET, noise reduction is prioritized nd the ir-conditioning performnce my ecome lower. If the volume of provided irfl ow is not greele to your preference, set the fn speed to LOW or higher fn speed. Hs the OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE mode een set? Do you hve n rrngement with your electric compny for Demnd Response? 8 Are the tteries used in the remote controller exhusted? Are the tteries used in the remote controller loded properly?
