5 Remote Controller Overview nd Opertions To prevent mlfunction or dmge of the remote controller: - Plce remote controller t where will not be exposed to direct sunlight or excessive het. - Remove btteries if the product is not going to be used for n extended period. - Exhusted btteries must be removed immeditely, nd be disposed ccording to the locl lws nd regultions of your region. If leking bttery uid comes in contct with your skin, eyes, or mouth, immeditely rinse with plenty of clen wter, nd consult your physicin. Do not pour wter on the remote controller You cn quickly strt opertion with the following steps: START/STOP button MODE button Switches opertion mode in following order. AUTO COOL DRY FAN TEMP. (temperture) buttons Sets the desired temperture. In COOL or DRY mode, the temperture needs to be set lower thn the current room temperture. Otherwise, corresponding opertion mode my not strt. Temperture setting rnge AUTO/COOL/DRY 8 0 C Temperture control is not vilble in FAN mode. Remote controller disply In this section, ll the possible indictors re displyed for description. In ctul opertion, the disply is linked with the button opertion, nd only shows the necessry indictors for ech setting. POWERFUL button Activtes the POWERFUL opertion. The unit will operte t mximum power nd strong ir ow to quickly cool down the room. When ctivted, the indoor unit will emit short beeps. To turn off, press the POWERFUL button gin. The indoor unit will then emit short beeps. POWERFUL opertion is utomticlly turned off in the following situtions: Adjusted room temperture reches the set temperture in COOL, DRY mode. 0 minutes hve pssed fter the POWERFUL opertion mode hs been set. Even in situtions bove, the POWERFUL opertion will not utomticlly turn off unless it hs run for certin mount of time. The ir ow direction nd the fn speed re controlled utomticlly. This opertion cnnot be performed simultneously with ECONOMY opertion. POWERFUL opertion will override the OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE, ENERGY SAVING functions. Both functions, if set, will strt fter the POWERFUL opertion is turned off. 6 ECONOMY button Strts or stops ECONOMY opertion tht sves more electricity thn other opertion modes by chnging the set temperture to moderte setting. By pressing the ECONOMY button, the ECONOMY indictor on the indoor unit turns on. In COOL or DRY mode, the room temperture will be djusted few degrees higher thn the set temperture. In COOL or DRY mode, the mximum output of this opertion is pproximtely 70 % of usul ir conditioning opertion. This opertion cnnot be performed during temperture monitoring by AUTO mode. Signl trnsmit indictor on the remote controller disply shows tht the signl from the remote controller is being trnsmitted. Operting rnge is pproximtely 7 m. You will her beep if the trnsmitted signl hs been sent properly. If there is no beep, press the button on the remote controller gin. 8 FAN button Controls the fn speed. (AUTO) (HIGH) (MED) (LOW) (QUIET) When AUTO is selected, the fn speed is utomticlly djusted ccording to the opertion mode. 9 SWING button Strts or stops utomtic swing of the verticl irow direction louver. The Swing opertion rnge will differ by mode s follows: 6 7 COOL, DRY, or FAN mode FAN mode 6 7 SWING opertion my stop temporrily when the indoor unit fn is rotting t very low speed or is stopped. In FAN mode, swing opertion rnge of or 7 is decided ccording to the irow direction previously set before strting the swing opertion. 0 SET button See pge Adjusts the verticl irow direction. WEEKLY timer button See pge 6 Activtes the WEEKLY timer for mximum of on or off progrms per dy, ech dy of the week. SLEEP timer button See pge 6 Activtes the SLEEP timer tht helps you to fll sleep comfortbly with grdul temperture control. ON/OFF timer button See pge 6 Activtes the ON/OFF timer. NEXT button Used for djusting the timer setting. BACK button Used for djusting the timer setting. 6 RESET button When you press the RESET button, press it gently by using the tip of bllpoint pen or other smll object in correct direction s shown in this gure. 0 SELECT button Used for djusting the clock or timer. OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE button Strts or stops OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE opertion tht lowers noise generted from the outdoor unit by cutting down the rottion number of the compressor, nd suppressing the fn speed. Once the opertion is set, the setting is preserved until you press this button gin to stop the opertion, even if the indoor unit opertion is stopped. on the remote controller disply shows tht the unit is in OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE mode. This opertion cnnot be performed simultneously with FAN, DRY nd POWERFUL opertion modes. SENSOR button (ENERGY SAVING PROGRAM) See pge 8 Activtes or dectivtes the energy sving progrm. * The Energy Sving progrm is ON t the time of purchse. : The setting must be done while the setting screen is displyed for ech function. : The button is controllble only when the ir conditioner is on. RESET 7 CLOCK ADJUST button Used for djusting the clock. 8 SEND button Used for sending the timer/clock setting. 9 TIMER SETTING button Used to enter the timer setting mode. 7 Timer Opertion Note for timer settings: Any interruption of the power supply, such s blckout or cutting off of circuit breker, mkes the set internl clock incorrect. In such cse, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit blinks, nd you need to redjust the setting. ON timer or OFF timer You cn set the ON timer or OFF timer with the following steps. Press the TIMER SETTING button to strt the setting. The WEEKLY indictor will be shing on the remote controller. Press the SELECT button to choose the desired mode. The mode will chnge s follows: WEEKLY ON/OFF (ON) ON/OFF (OFF) ON/OFF (ON OFF) SLEEP (OFF) WEEKLY timer ON nd OFF timer cn be combined, nd up to reservtions (progrm ) per dy nd 8 reservtions per week. Before setting the progrm, plese set the week nd time of the ir conditioner rst. If the week nd time re not set, the weekly timer will not operte correctly t the set time. Plese refer to "remote controller preprtion" (pge ). Exmple of WEEKLY timer Press the NEXT button. Continue to setting for ech mode. * To cncel timer setting during the setting process, press the TIMER SETTING button gin. Adjust the time by pressing the SELECT button while the clock indictor is blinking. Ech time you press the button, the time will chnge by +/- minutes. Pressing down will chnge the time by +0/-0 minutes. Press the SEND button. (Select ON OFF in Step ) If you chnge the setting vlue for the timer fter the progrm timer is set, the counting down of the timer will be reset t tht moment. Time setting for ech combintion should be within spn of hours. SLEEP timer To set the SLEEP timer, rst follow steps ~ for the ON/OFF timer. Opertions modes other thn the temperture setting will be the sme t the lst time opertion ws stopped, so Cooling Dry Cooling Dry type of opertions cnnot be utomticlly set. If you set the ON timer nd OFF timer on the sme time, the ir conditioner will run the ON timer. If two ON timer re set t the sme time, the ir conditioner will run in the order of the progrm number. If there is power interruption, such s due to power outge during the WEEKLY timer setting or circuit breker cutting out, the internl timer of the ir conditioner will be incorrect. (See pge 9 "Auto-restrt".) In such cse, the min timer lmp will notify you of this by shing, so crry out mtching of the time nd dte. (See pge "remote controller preprtion".) You cnnot use the WEEKLY timer together with the other timers. If you wnt to run the product on WEEKLY timer fter using the ON/ OFF Timer, Progrm Timer, or SLEEP Timer while the WEEKLY timer is running, you need to ctivte the WEEKLY timer gin. To help you to fll sleep comfortbly nd prevent excessive cooling in sleep, the SLEEP timer controls the temperture setting utomticlly in ccordnce with the set time shown s follows. If you wnt to move on to the next setting, press the NEXT button, return to step nd con gure the next setting. 8 To complete the setting, press the SEND button. If you wnt to cncel the setting midwy, plese press the TIMER SETTING button insted of pressing the SEND button. When cnceling the WEEKLY timer, select No Timer Opertion in Step in the WEEKLY timer setting. If you wnt to go bck to the previous step when conguring settings, press the BACK button to return to the previous step. Press the SEND button, when you re close to the min unit. If you do so when fr from the min unit, the signl my not get properly sent, nd the settings my not get properly congured. To check the schedule, repet steps to to enter the WEEKLY timer mode, then use the SELECT button to browse through the WEEKLY timer settings in the order shown in step. 9 Humn Sensor (Energy Sving) To prevent wste of electricity, this function controls the temperture setting when no one is occupying the room. Energy Sving progrm is on t the time of purchse. To ctivte the Energy Sving progrm, press the SENSOR button. indictor will be shing on the remote controller disply. To dectivte the Energy Sving progrm, press the SENSOR button gin. will no longer be shown on the remote controller disply. About the ENERGY SAVING Opertion If no one enters the room for pproximtely 0 minutes, the set temperture will be utomticlly controlled. (When someone comes bck into the room, the humn sensor will detect this, nd utomticlly revert to the originl settings.) Opertion mode COOL/DRY AUTO Operting detils (if there is no one in the room for while) The set temperture will be incresed by mximum of pproximtely C. This runs the ENERGY SAVING function utomticlly for the selected mode (Cooling/ Drying). When using together with the SLEEP timer (pge 6), the SLEEP timer will be prioritized. When your electricity supplier ctivtes one of the following Demnd Response (DR) modes, the ir conditioner switches over to the pproprite opertion, nd the OPERATION indictor (green) on the indoor unit blinks to inform you the unit hs entered the DR mode. About the HUMAN SENSOR Detils bout detection with the humn sensor The humn sensor detects whether there re people in the room by looking for movement by people in the room. Notice Since the humn sensor detects infrred light given out by people, there my be cses where this detection is incorrect. Situtions in which the sensor will detect no people in the room, even when there is someone there When the temperture is high nd the difference with between people s body temperture is smll. (Such s during the summer when the temperture is 0C or higher) When there is someone in the room, but they do not move for long period of time. DR mode DR mode DR mode Description of opertion in this mode Compressor off. The ir conditioner continues to cool during the Demnd Response event, but the electricl energy consumed by the ir conditioner in hlf hour period is not more thn 0% of the totl electricl energy tht would be consumed if operting t the rted cpcity in hlf hour period. The ir conditioner continues to cool during the Demnd Response event, but the electricl energy consumed by the ir conditioner in hlf hour period DR mode is not more thn 7% of the totl electricl energy tht would be consumed if operting t the rted cpcity in hlf hour period. When the unit enters the DR mode, it performs moderte opertion so the cooling effect my be reduced. You cnnot override this function by chnging the temperture setting using the remote controller or other ctions unless the unit nishes the function. Note: Stopping the opertion of the ir conditioner by using the remote controller or by OFF timer re vlid in DR mode. If the timer opertion is interfered by n interruption of power supply such s blckout nd the power supply is resumed, no indiction of the DR mode is performed. During the DR mode, no indiction of " lter sign" is performed. Powerful opertion is performed within the operble rnge of the DR mode. When the unit nishes the function, it will perform the opertion tht ws previously performed before entering the DR mode. 10 AIR CONDITIONER Wll Mounted Type Generl Informtions on Opertion Auto-restrt function In event of power interruption such s blckout, the ir conditioner stops once. But it restrts utomticlly nd performs previous opertion when the power supply is resumed. If ny power interruption occurs fter the timer is set, counting down of the timer will be reset. After the power supply is resumed, the TIMER indictor on the indoor unit blinks to notify you tht there hs been timer fult. In such cse, reset the timer for your opportune time. Mlfunctions cused by other electricl devices: Use of other electricl pplinces such s n electric shver or nerby use of wireless rdio trnsmitter my cuse the mlfunction of the ir conditioner. If you encounter such mlfunction, turn off the circuit breker once. Then turn it on gin, nd resume opertion by using the remote controller. Temperture nd Humidity Rnge Permissible rnges of temperture nd humidity re s follows: COOL/DRY Indoor temperture About 8 C to C Indoor humidity Below pproximtely 80%. If the ir conditioner is used continuously for mny hours, wter my condense on the surfce nd drip. 11 Cre nd Clening Before clening the indoor unit, be sure to turn it off nd ll the power supply hs been disconnected. Before strting opertion, mke sure tht the intke grille hs been shut completely. Incomplete closing of the intke grille might hve n effect on the proper working or performnce of the ir conditioner. Do not touch the luminum ns of het exchnger built-in the indoor unit to void personl injury when you mintin the unit. Do not expose the indoor unit to liquid insecticides or hir sprys. Do not stnd on slippery, uneven or unstble surfces when you mintin the unit. Dily cre When clening the indoor unit body, mind the following: Do not use wter hotter thn 0 C. Do not use scouring clenser, voltile solvents such s benzene or thinner. Wipe the unit gently by using soft cloth. Clening the intke grille Open the intke grille in direction of the rrow. While gently pressing the left nd right mounting shfts of the intke grille outwrd b, remove the intke grille in direction of the rrow c. Clening the ir lters Mind tht you hve periodicl clening of the ir lters to prevent reducing the opertion ef ciency of the product. Using of clogged ir lter with dust will lower the product performnce, nd my cuse ir ow reduction or increse of operting noise. Clen the ir lters once every weeks under norml use. Open the intke grille. (Refer to of step in Clening the intke grille.) While holding the intke grille with your hnd, pull up the hndle of the lter in direction of the rrow nd relese the clws b. Then pull the lter out with gently sliding it downwrd c. c c c b b b b Filter holder nd ir clening lter re ttched on the rer side of the ir lter. Remove them from the ir lter by unltching ech corner of the lter holder d. d d Wsh the intke grille gently with wter or wipe it gently with soft cloth moisten with wrm wter. Then wipe it with dry nd soft cloth. While holding the grille horizontl, set the left nd right mounting shfts into the pillow blocks t the top of the pnel. To ltch ech shft properly, insert the shft until it snps. Then close the intke grille b. 6 d Remove dust by using vcuum clener or by wshing the lter. When you wsh the lter, use neutrl household detergent nd wrm wter. After rinse the lter well, dry it throughly in shded plce before you reinstll it. Attch the ir clening lter nd the lter holder to ech ir lter. Attch the ir lter with ligning both side of the lter with the front pnel, nd push in the lter fully. Note: Air clening lter is ttched on ech ir lter. b Following types of ir clening lters re used in this product. When you replce them, purchse dedicted ir clening lters for this product. Apple-ctechin lter: UTR-FA6 ( sheet) The Apple-ctechin lter uses sttic electricity to clen ne prticles nd dust in the ir such s tobcco smoke nd plnt pollen tht re too smll to see. This lter is disposble. Do not wsh or reuse it. Once you open the pckge, use it s soon s possible. The clening effect is reduced if the lter is left with the pckge opened. Replce the lter once every months under norml use. By setting the fn speed high, the ir clening effect increses. Ion deodoriztion lter: UTR-FA6-6 c Attch new or mintined ir clening lter d to the lter holder. New ir clening lter cn be ttched to either of the right holder or the left holder. d Ltch corners of the lter holder e to the ir lter rmly. e Reinstll the ir lter. (Refer to step 6 in Clening the ir lter.) Close the intke grille rmly. (Refer to step in Clening the intke grille on pge 0.) e (Light blue, sheet) The lter deodorizes by powerfully decomposing bsorbed odors using the oxidizing nd reducing effects of ions generted by the ultr-ne-prticle cermic. To mintin the deodorizing effect, clen the lter once every months s follows:. Remove the lter.. Flush the lter with high-pressure hot wter until the surfce of the lter is covered with wter.. Wsh the lter gently with diluent nuetrl detergent. Do not wsh it by wringing or rubbing to prevent reducing the deodorizing effect by dmge.. Rinse the lter well with wter ow.. Dry the lter throughly in shded plce. 6. Reinstll the lter to the indoor unit. Replce the lter once every yers under norml use. After extended non-use of the unit If you hve shut down the indoor unit for month or more, perform the FAN opertion for hlf dy to dry the internl prts throughly before you perform norml opertion. Additionl inspection After long period of use, ccumulted dust inside the indoor unit my reduce the product performnce even if you hve mintined the unit with instructed dily cre or clening procedures written in this mnul. In COOL or DRY mode, thin mist generted by condenstion formed with sudden cooling process my be emitted. In DRY mode, the indoor unit opertes t low fn speed to djust the room humidity, nd my stop from time to time. When the fn speed is set to QUIET, the fn rottes t very low speed nd the ir ow is reduced. In COOL mode, the indoor unit fn my stop from time to time when the outdoor unit is stopped. When monitoring opertion is performed in AUTO mode, the fn rottes t very low speed. When the fn speed setting is set to QUIET, noise reduction is prioritized nd the ir-conditioning performnce my become lower. If the volume of provided ir ow is not greeble to your preference, set the fn speed to LOW or higher fn speed. Hs the OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE mode been set? Do you hve n rrngement with your electric compny for Demnd Response? 8 Are the btteries used in the remote controller exhusted? Are the btteries used in the remote controller loded properly? Immeditely stop opertion nd turn off the electricl breker in following cses. Then consult uthorized service personnel. The problem persists even if you perform these checks or dignostics. Do not pour wter on the remote controller You cn quickly strt opertion with the following steps: START/STOP button MODE button Switches opertion mode in following order. AUTO COOL DRY FAN TEMP. (temperture) buttons Sets the desired temperture. In COOL or DRY mode, the temperture needs to be set lower thn the current room temperture. Otherwise, corresponding opertion mode my not strt. Temperture setting rnge AUTO/COOL/DRY 0 C Temperture control is not vilble in FAN mode. Remote controller disply In this section, ll the possible indictors re displyed for description. In ctul opertion, the disply is linked with the button opertion, nd only shows the necessry indictors for ech setting. POWERFUL button Activtes the POWERFUL opertion. The unit will operte t mimum power nd strong ir ow to quickly cool down the room. When ctivted, the indoor unit will emit short beeps. To turn off, press the POWERFUL button gin. The indoor unit will then emit short beeps. POWERFUL opertion is utomticlly turned off in the following situtions: Adjusted room temperture reches the set temperture in COOL, DRY mode. 0 minutes hve pssed fter the POWERFUL opertion mode hs been set. Even in situtions bove, the POWERFUL opertion will not utomticlly turn off unless it hs run for certin mount of time. The ir ow direction nd the fn speed re controlled utomticlly. This opertion cnnot be performed simultneously with ECONOMY opertion. POWERFUL opertion will override the OUTDOOR UNIT LOW NOISE, ENERGY SAVING functions. Both functions, if set, will strt fter the POWERFUL opertion is turned off. 6 ECONOMY button Strts or stops ECONOMY opertion tht sves more electricity thn other opertion modes by chnging the set temperture to moderte setting. By pressing the ECONOMY button, the ECONOMY indictor on the indoor unit turns on. In COOL or DRY mode, the room temperture will be djusted few degrees higher thn the set temperture. In COOL or DRY mode, the mimum output of this opertion is pproimtely 70 of usul ir conditioning opertion. This opertion cnnot be performed during temperture monitoring by AUTO mode.
