4 Function Functionl description Smoke control dmpers re used in mechnicl smoke extrct systems. They re used for extrcting smoke gses nd for providing dditionl supply ir to one or more fire comprtments. The dmpers re mde of glvnised sheet steel or stinless steel nd re opened by n ctutor; when smoke is detected, the ctutor is triggered by signl either from duct smoke detector or from fire lrm system. Smoke control dmpers hve two sfe positions: open nd closed. In the cse of fire-resistnt smoke control dmpers for multiple comprtments, the sfe position is either 'open' or 'closed', depending on the fire site nd the pth of the smoke to be extrcted. If the sfe position is 'open', the free re must be mintined even in the event of fire. Regulr mintennce of the smoke control dmper is required to ensure its functionl relibility. Smoke control dmpers not only prevent the spreding of smoke nd combustion products between fire comprtments, they lso prevent the lekge of emitted, dngerous nd poisonous fire suppression gses from the ffected re, nd they mintin positive pressure in pressuristion systems. The EK-EU is suitble s pressure relief dmper for gs fire extinguishing systems. For extrcting smoke gses nd for providing dditionl supply ir to one or more fire comprtments. The EK-EU cn be used in smoke extrct systems which hve been pproved for extrct ventiltion. The fire-resistnt smoke control dmper for multiple comprtments is suitble for instlltion in solid wlls.
