WARNING nd hve the following menings in these instructions: WARNING PRES ON USE WARNING This mrk indictes procedures which, if improperly performed, might led to the deth or serious injury of the user. Do not keep exposing oneself to the direct wind of ir conditioner for long time. Do not insert fi ngers or ojects into the outlet port or intke grilles. Except for EMERGENCY, never turn off min s well s su reker of the indoor units during opertion. It will cuse compressor filure s well s wter lekge. First, stop the indoor unit y operting the control unit, converter or externl input device nd then cut the reker. Mke sure to operte through the control unit, converter or externl input device. If the power supply cord of this pplince is dmged, it should only e replced y the uthorized service personl, since specil purpose tools nd specifi ed cord re required. If ny refrigernt hppens to lek, extinguish ny fl mes, ventilte the room nd get in touch with uthorized service personnel. Do not expose the ir conditioner directly to wter. Do not operte the ir conditioner with wet hnds. Check the condition of the instlltion stnd for dmge. Operte only with ir fi lters instlled. Do not drink the wter drined from the ir conditioner. Do not pply ny hevy pressure to rditor fi ns. Do not use inflmmle gses ner the ir conditioner. Do not touch the piping during opertion. Ensure tht ny electronic equipment is t lest m wy from either the indoor or outdoor units. This pplince is not intended for use y persons (including children) with reduced physicl, sensory or mentl cpilities, or lck of experience nd knowledge, unless they hve een given supervision or instruction concerning use of the pplince y person responsile for their sfety. Children should e supervised to ensure tht they do not ply with the pplince. Note: Switching the operting mode in the het recovery system my require some time to prepre for opertion. Plese note tht this is not fult. PRES ON INSTALLATION Do not ttempt to instll this ir conditioner y yourself. This unit contins no user-servicele prts. Alwys consult uthorized service personnel for repirs. When moving, consult uthorized service personnel for disconnection nd instlltion of the unit. The unit must e grounded. Mke sure drin work is implemented properly for dringe. Avoid instlling the ir conditioner ner fireplce or other heting pprtus. Do not press the MANUAL AUTO utton with wet hnds or pointed ojects, otherwise n electric shock or mlfunction my occur. Strting Opertion Press the MANUAL AUTO utton on the operting control pnel. The opertion cn e set in the following setting. Operting mode AUTO: When Auto mode cnnot e selected, it will operte in the sme mode s the other indoor unit in the sme system. (When other indoor unit in the sme system doesn t operte, the ir conditioner will operte in cooling.) 4 HUMAN SENSOR (030/034 model only) Aout the humn sensor The Humn sensor detects whether there re people in the room y looking for movement y people in the room. Setting of Humn sensor cn e done in the remote controller of the following. Refer to the operting mnul of the remote controller. UTY-RNR*Z* (wired remote controller) Aout the Auto sving opertion If no one enters the room during the set time (5, 30, 60, 90, 20, 80 minutes), the set temperture will e utomticlly controlled. (When someone comes ck into the room, the Humn sensor will detect this, nd utomticlly revert to the originl settings.) Aout the Auto off opertion If no one enters the room during the set time ( to 24 hours in hour increments), the ir conditioner will utomticlly stop opertion. NOTES: To restrt opertion, press the [On/Off] utton of the remote controller. The Auto off opertion my not operte even if there is no one in the room. The sensor my incorrectly detect people even if there is no one in the room. Since the Humn sensor detects infrred light given out y people, there my e cses where this detection is incorrect. Situtions in which the sensor will detect no people in the room, even when there is someone there When the temperture is high nd the difference with etween people s ody temperture is smll. (Such s during the summer when the temperture is 30 C or higher.) When there is someone in the room, ut they do not move for long period of time. When someone is hidden ehind sof, other furniture, glss, or in similr situtions. When someone is wering extremely thick clothing nd hs their ck fcing the sensor. Situtions in which the sensor will incorrectly detect people in the room, even when there is no one there When there is dog or ct moving round in the room. When the wind is mking curtins or plnts move. When there re heting units, humidifi ers, or electric pplinces such s oscillting electric fns operting. OPERATING TIPS Opertion nd Performnce Aout priority stte nd stndy stte Multiple indoor units cn e connected within the sme system. Depending on the system, choice of operting mode re limited. Cooling priority stte: When the other indoor units within the sme system operte in cooling or dry mode, heting cn not e selected t the sme time. Heting priority stte: When the other indoor units within the sme system operte in heting mode, cooling nd dry mode cn not e selected t the sme time. Stndy stte: The stndy stte ctivtes when 2 or more indoor units strt up t the sme time in different mode. Any indoor unit other thn priority mode will wit in stndy stte until priority mode chnges (opertion strts s soon s priority is switched). At this time, the opertion indictor lmp (green) lights up nd the timer indictor lmp (red) flshes. Low mient cooling When the outdoor temperture drops, the outdoor unit s fns my switch to Low Speed, or one of the fns my stop intermittently. Heting performnce Heting mode opertes on the het-pump principle, soring het from outdoor ir nd trnsferring tht het indoors. As result, the operting performnce is reduced s outdoor ir temperture drops. If you feel tht insuffi cient heting performnce is eing produced, we recommend you use this ir conditioner in conjunction with nother type of heting pplince. Heting mode het your entire room y recirculting ir throughout the room, with the result tht some time my e required fter fi rst strting the ir conditioner until the room is heted. Microcomputer-controlled utomtic defrosting When using the Heting mode under conditions of low outdoor ir temperture high humidity, frost my form on the outdoor unit, resulting in reduced operting performnce. In order to prevent this kind of reduced performnce, this unit is equipped with Microcomputer-controlled utomtic defrosting function. If frost forms, the ir conditioner will temporrily stop, nd the defrosting circuit will operte riefly (for out 4 to 5 minutes). During Automtic Defrosting opertion, the OPERATION indictor lmp (green) will fl sh. Oil recovery opertion Periodiclly, the oil recovery opertion is performed in order to return compressor oil to the outdoor unit. During oil recovery opertion, the OPERATION indictor lmp (green) will fl sh (for out 0 minutes). Temperture nd humidity rnge The temperture nd humidity required for operting this product is s shown in the following tle. 5 If the ir conditioner is operted under higher temperture conditions thn those listed, the uilt-in protection circuit my operte to prevent internl circuit dmge. Also, during Cooling nd Dry modes, if the unit is used under conditions of lower temperture thn those listed ove, the het-exchnger my freeze, leding to wter lekge nd other dmge. (3) While holding the grille horizontl, set the left nd right mounting shfts into the pillow locks t the top of the pnel []. To ltch ech shft properly, insert the shft until it snps. Then close the intke grille []. If the unit is used for long periods under high-humidity conditions, condenstion my form on the surfce of the indoor unit, nd drip onto the floor or other ojects underneth. Do not use this unit for ny purposes other thn the Cooling, Heting, Dehumidifying, nd ir-circultion of rooms in ordinry dwellings. CLEANING AND CARE Before clening the unit, e sure to stop the unit nd disconnect the power supply. Do not stnd on n unstle pltform when clening. When removing nd replcing the ir filters, e sure not to touch the het exchnger, s personl injury my result. (4) Press 4 plces on the intke grille to close it completely. Be sure the intke grille is instlled securely. 004/007/009 model 030/034 model Do not clen the inside of the unit y yourself. To clen the inside, lwys consult uthorized service personnel. When clening the unit s ody, do not use wter hotter thn 40 C, hrsh rsive clensers, or voltile gents like enzene or thinner. If dirt is llowed to ccumulte on the ir filter, irflow will e reduced, lowering operting efficiency nd incresing noise. During periods of norml use, the ir filters should e clened every 2 weeks. Clening the ir filters Mind tht you hve periodicl clening of the ir filters to prevent reducing the opertion efficiency of the product. Using of clogged ir filter with dust will lower the product performnce, nd my cuse irflow reduction or increse of operting noise. Clen the ir filters once every 2 weeks under norml use. Clening the intke grille nd the ir filter Dily cre When clening the indoor unit ody, mind the following: Do not use wter hotter thn 40 C. Do not use scouring clenser, voltile solvents such s enzene or thinner. () Pull up the hndle [] of the filter in direction of the rrow nd relese the 2 clws []. Then pull the filter out with gently sliding it downwrd [c]. Wipe the unit gently y using soft cloth. Clening the intke grille c () Open the intke grille in direction of the rrow [ ]. While gently pressing the left nd right mounting shfts of the intke grille outwrd [], remove the intke grille in direction of the rrow [c]. c c (2) Remove dust y using vcuum clener or y wshing the filter. When you wsh the filter, use neutrl household detergent nd wrm wter. After rinse the filter well, dry it thoroughly in shded plce efore you reinstll it. (3) Attch the ir filter with ligning oth side of the filter with the pnel, nd push in the filter fully. NOTES: Mke sure tht 2 clws re firmly snpped to the guide holes on the pnel. Air clening filter instlltion (030/034 model only) () Open the intke grille nd remove the ir filters. (2) Wsh the intke grille gently with wter or wipe it gently with soft cloth moisten with wrm wter. Then wipe it with dry nd soft cloth. 6 (2) Instll the ir clening fi lter set (set of 2). ) Set the ir clening fi lter into the ir clening fi lter frme. Air clening fi lter Air clening fi lter frme 2) Engge the ltch t oth ends of the fi lter with the two hooks t the rer of the ir clening fi lter frme. Hook (2 plces t t the rer) Mintennce of ION DEODORIZATION FILTER In order to mintin the deodorizing effect, plese clen the fi lter in the following wy every 3 months. () Remove the filter. (2) Clen with wter nd dry in the ir. ) Flush the fi lters with high-pressure hot wter until the surfce of the fi lters re covered with wter. Plese fl ush with diluent neutrl detergent. (Never wsh y reming or ruing, otherwise it will dmge the deodorizing effect.) 2) Rinse with wter fl ow. 3) Dry in shde. (3) Reinstll the fi lter. Clening ody Ltch (2 plces) Tke cre tht the ir clening fi lter does not project eyond the frme. 3) Engge the six fi xing loctions t the top nd ottom of the ir clening fi lter frme with the hooks of the ir fi lter. Rer of the filter Fixing loction, hook (6 plces) (3) Instll the two ir fi lters nd close the intke grille. When ir clening fi lters re used, the effect will incresed y setting the fn speed to HIGH. Replcing dirty ir clening filters (030/034 model only) Replce fi lters with the following components (purchsed seprtely). APPLE-CATECHIN FILTER: UTR-FA3- ION DEODORIZATION FILTER: UTR-FA3-2 () Open the intke grille nd remove the ir fi lters. (2) Replce them y two new ir clening fi lters. ) Remove the old ir clening fi lters in reverse order of their instlltion. 2) Instll in the sme wy s for instlltion of the ir clening fi lter set. (3) Instll the two ir fi lters nd close the intke grille. In regrd to the ir clening filters APPLE-CATECHIN FILTER ( sheet) The fi lters re disposle fi lters. (They cn not e wshed nd reused.) For storge of the fi lters, use the fi lters s soon s possile fter the pckge hs een opened. (The ir clening effect decreses when the fi lters re left in the opened pckge) Generlly, the fi lters should e exchnged out every 3 months. Plese uy dedicted APPLE-CATECHIN FILTER (UTR-FA3-) (Sold seprtely) to exchnge the used dirty ir clening fi lters. ION DEODORIZATION FILTER ( sheet) - light lue The fi lters should e exchnged out every 3 yers so s to mintin the deodorizing effect. Plese uy dedicted ION DEODORIZATION FILTER (UTR-FA3-2) (Sold seprtely) when exchnging the fi lters. Wsh the ody with wrm wter, nd then dry with clen nd soft cloth. When not using for n extended period Leve the reker on for t lest 2 hours efore strting opertion when it is to e used gin. After extended non-use of the unit If you hve shut down the indoor unit for month or more, perform the FAN opertion for hlf dy to dry the internl prts thoroughly efore you perform norml opertion. Additionl inspection After long period of use, ccumulted dust inside the indoor unit my reduce the product performnce even if you hve mintined the unit with instructed dily cre or clening procedures written in this mnul. In such cse, product inspection is recommended. For more informtion, consult uthorized service personnel. TROUBLESHOOTING The following conditions re not rekdowns or opertion filures. Doesn t operte immeditely: If the unit is stopped nd then immeditely strted gin, the compressor will not operte for out 3 minutes, in order to prevent fuse lowouts. Whenever the electricl reker is turned off then on gin, the protection circuit will operte for out 3 minutes, preventing unit opertion during tht period. Airflow is wek or stops: When Heting opertion is strted, indoor unit s fn my temporrily stop, to llow internl prts to wrm up. During Heting opertion, if the room temperture rises ove the thermostt setting, the outdoor unit will stop, nd the indoor unit s fn will stop. If you wish to wrm the room further, set the thermostt for higher setting. During oil recovery opertion, the irfl ow my stop for pproximtely 0 minutes. (See pge 3) During Heting opertion, the unit will temporrily stop opertion (etween 4 nd 5 minutes) s the Automtic Defrosting mode opertes. (See pge 3) The fn my operte t low speed during Dry opertion or when the unit is monitoring the room s temperture. In the monitor AUTO opertion, the fn will operte t low speed. Flshing lmps: The OPERATION indictor lmp (green) flshes: An oil recovery opertion is eing performed. (See pge 3) The OPERATION indictor lmp (green) flshes: An utomtic defrosting opertion is eing performed. (See pge 3) En-5

7 The OPERATION indictor lmp (green) nd TIMER indictor lmp (ornge) re fl shing lterntely: It hs recovered from power outge. The OPERATION indictor lmp (green) nd TIMER indictor lmp (ornge) re fl shing simultneously: It is operting in tril opertion mode. Ask mnger s there my e mintennce eing conducted. The OPERATION indictor lmp (green) lights up nd the TIMER indictor lmp (ornge) flshes: This is the stndy stte. (See pge 3) Noise is herd: In the following conditions there re sounds of wter flowing from the indoor unit nd the opertion sound ecomes loud. These re the sounds of the fl owing of refrigernt. When opertion strts When oil recovery opertion fi nishes When utomtic defrosting opertion fi nishes During opertion, slight squeking sound my e herd. This is the result of minute expnsion nd contrction of the pnel due to temperture chnges. During Heting opertion, sizzling sound my e herd occsionlly. This sound is produced y the Automtic Defrosting opertion. (See pge 3) Smells: Some smell my e emitted from the indoor unit. This smell is the result of room smells (furniture, tocco, etc.) which hve een tken into the ir conditioner. Fog comes out of the indoor unit: During Cooling opertion, thin mist my e seen emitted from the indoor unit. This results from the sudden Cooling of room ir y the ir emitted from the ir conditioner, resulting in condenstion nd misting. Stem comes out of the indoor unit: During Heting opertion, the outdoor unit s fn my stop, nd stem my e seen rising from the unit. This is due to the Automtic Defrosting opertion. (See pge 3) Wter is produced from the outdoor unit: During Heting opertion, wter my e produced from the outdoor unit due to the Automtic Defrosting opertion. The following conditions my not e rekdowns so check gin. Doesn t operte t ll: Hs there een power filure? Hs fuse lown out, or circuit reker een tripped? Is the min power switch set to the OFF position? Are you trying to engge in n opertion different from the priority stte? (See pge 3) Is it in stndy stte? (See pge 3) Is the Auto off opertion of the Humn sensor setting ctive? (See pge 3) The opertion mode cnnot e chnged: Are you trying to chnge to n opertion different from the priority conditions? (See pge 3) Poor Cooling (or Heting) performnce: Did you djust the room temperture settings (thermostt) correctly? Is the ir fi lter dirty? (See pge 4) Are the ir conditioner s inlet port or outlet port locked? Is there window or door open? In the cse of Cooling opertion, is window llowing right sunlight to enter? (Close the curtins.) In the cse of Cooling opertion, re there heting pprtus nd computers inside the room, or re there too mny people in the room? Is the fn speed set to low? Is the Auto sving opertion of the Humn sensor setting ctive? (See pge 3) Set the temperture lower thn the room temperture nd use it: Temperture does not fll down well. Temperture my not fll down depending on the room conditions. (While high humidity or the room temperture is high.) (See pge 3) In following situtions stop opertion immeditely nd get in touch with uthorized service personnel. The prolem cnnot e solved even when the trouleshooting checks hve een performed. The FILTER indictor lmp (red) is flshing very fst. The wired remote controller or simple remote controller indicte Er (when connected). It hs urning smell.
