Lizard village sits close to the southernmost tip of the peninsula and to the north west are stunning beaches at Pentreath, Mullion, Polurrian and Poldhu, working your way back up the peninsula towards Helston whilst to the right are further beaches at Coverack and Porhhallow both of which have attractive villages behind them. To the north east lies the Helford River providing access to some excellent sailing facilities on the river and out into Falmouth Bay. The main road through the peninsula connects from the town of Helston which is the nearest major town providing a wide array of leisure, commercial and retail facilities with roads connecting from Helston north eastwards to the bustling port of Falmouth and Truro, Cornwall s capital city, both of which provide an excellent array of further facilities. Across country from Helston the roads connect to the A30 (Cornwall s main arterial road) which thereafter provides a virtually continuous dual carriageway link into Devon and on to Exeter joining the national motorway network. Some of the counties prime coastal resorts are within an easy drive, to the west, Penzance and St Ives, the latter being well renowned for the Tate Gallery and its artistic connections.
